What have you added to your collection recently?

Doesn’t directly answer your question, but I’d suggest checking out eBay before turning to Amazon. I now consider amazon to be my last ditch, avoid at all costs option. But there’s some good eBay sellers out there that still offer fair prices even after sites like IST sell out.
Now sold out update for books released yesterday on InstockTrades, Amazing Spider-man by JMS vol 2 Garney variant cover omnibus, Black Widow variant cover omnibus; Green Arrow Longbow Hunters Omnibus, Robin Hood 80 Years of the Boy Wonder HC, Wolverine by Claremont vol 1 regular cover.
No idea if any of these will come back in stock in the future or not. Selling out at the initial sale like this doesn't mean it won't come back in stock unless the distributor (Diamond) is sold out.

Slight side track: anyone bought anything from mycomicshop.com? Just curious about their quality as a seller: reasonable prices, items matching descriptions, shipping, etc.

Edit: I’d say prices are reasonable, don’t expect to find killer deals, but a few times I’ve found items on their site for a fair price and the same item is blowing up on eBay. I’ve never had any problems with their shipping, seems sturdy, but I can only recall what it looks like for floppies. None of my omnis came damaged, though.

I have never bought an Omnibus from them but I have nothing but great things to say about all the purchases I have made. I will suggest paying the additional 4 bucks to ship via UPS, as my stuff comes way faster that way. Sometimes the free shipping gets caught up in the USPS web of craziness after they ship your order.

Good call on shipping Ryan. Their default option is called “Lone Star Shipping” (and coincidentally they started as Lone Star Comics). I never trust shipping outside the big 3, despite current issues.
Thanks for the reviews on mycomicshop.com. Nice to know there is another option out there. Looking at buying some CGC comics once the glut of omnibus releases settles.

Nice Batman additions to the collection Alicia. =)
Amazon has more copies of the Batman Knightfall Omnibus vol 3 for $50 (50% off cover). This has been out of stock for a few months and I looked for an inexpensive copy a couple weeks ago and couldn't find anything cheaper than $80 +shipping.

I heard that what’s collected in the first one sort of tanked due to various reasons back in the day, so I skipped the omni, but I’ve always wanted to know what happened to get the sacrificed heroes back after that final battle with Onslaught. This follow up is on my radar even though the TPB version doesn’t have the greatest reviews, but it’s a 90’s event, come on!

Right, doesn't seem the first one is popping up on eBay as often as I would have thought at this point.

I shouldn’t have said tanked, looked up the history of Heroes Reborn and that was inaccurate. Rob Liefeld’s issues weren’t too popular, but Jim Lee’s work was very well received. Just something that didn’t catch my eye, so I’ll let my imagination paint what happened in the pocket universe and pick back up where they’re brought back to 616 continuity.
Maybe if the first volume contained the 13th issues of each Reborn run with the WildStorm/WWIII event I’d pick it up out of curiosity, but apparently it doesn’t (licensing nightmare I’m sure) so it seems like an incomplete book to me.
Some clarification on the Man of Steel hardcover that came out.
it was originally an omnibus with this listing (and still shows that on the Amazon listing):
ACTION 584-593
ACTION ANNUAL 1
ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN 424-435
ADVENTURES ANNUAL 1
LEGION OF SUPERHEROS 37-38
SUPERMAN 1-11
SUPERMAN ANNUAL 1
MAN OF STEEL 1-6
But now it's a standard sized hardcover with these issues:
MAN OF STEEL 1-6
SUPERMAN 1-4
ACTION COMICS 584-587
ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN 424-428
WHO's WHO: Update '87 1, 3-4
this is based off a picture someone posted on Amazon. If someone can confirm the contents of the standard sized hardcover that would be helpful. There is a second volume coming out in a few months, that presumably will have the remainder of the issues listed on the omnibus.

Andrew that doesn’t make any sense. There’s no such thing as buying too many comics.
What’d you get? Share more details!

All of Sandman, Preacher, day tripper, dark knight returns, transmetropolitan, watchmen, fourth world, swamp thing in absolute. Ex machina, Y the last man, azzarellos Wonder Woman, bendis’s daredevil, kamandi, Bronze Age swamp thing.
Pretty much all the favorites throughout the years of reading comics. I’ve got a ton of re-reading to do now! I started on Preacher and it’s as good or better than I remember.
I love the longer format books. Reading y the last man in a single volume rather than (what ever it was) 12 paper backs is much more satisfying and binge-worthy.
Love the absolutes. Even though Y the last had the three absolute volumes, it was nice reading it as a single volume in the omnibus that came out last year.

All of San..."
Very cool Andrew, love big hauls like that! Also agree with you about having a larger format than dozens of smaller books to change out as you progress through reading. Might be easier to grab and go with many smaller books, but I don’t mind the big books and enjoy the aesthetics of them on my shelves. Enjoy!

😂
Same!
Sounds like you have all the premier series now Andrew!
Your welcome Alicia. Hopefully that gets you caught up.

Oh I hadn’t heard about the fix yet. Hope there is some way to exchange if you already have one.

I think the fixed version is not out until October.
But no info on exchange? I’m wondering if I should have returned it immediately. I seem to recall IST having some kind of process when they reprinted the Kirby Fourth World Omnibus.

IST has twice sent me a replacement for books that were later corrected, without a return or me even notifying them. That’s not the case with everything and those were cheaper books.

Ha! Nah, you’re fine Ryan. I’d rather know than not, and if I hadn’t have known, I would’ve been perfectly fine with how I’ve got things now. And there’s my answer about whether or not to buy the fixed version!

Expected releases on IST this coming Tuesday:

Now, I’m not one to chase movie memorabilia, but cool additional info: the image was used for a final composition that’s buried in disc 2 of the 2002 SE DVD release of Spider-Man (screenshot included in the link above). Wasn’t ever glimpsed in theaters, but it’s still a nice bonus story to go along with this great piece. Hoping to chase the Allreds down someday, get extra sigs, and maybe even see if Laura would color it for me.
Oh nice! I don’t think I’ve ever seen him draw Spider-Man and the movie connection is a definite bonus.

* Annihilation: Nov 18
* JMS Spider-Man vol 2: November
* Silver Surfer (should be a fixed version): Mid November
* Uncanny X-Men: Dec 9
* Morbius: December

Last night one of the Wolverine omnis was still available, and I grappled with getting it but I'm not an enthusiastic Wolverine fan so ended up not. The only omni I got got was the Black Widow one and some assorted tpbs, mostly catching up with the Dawn of the X-Men books and some older Avengers material.
Last month I did get the last volume of IDW's Corto Maltese series. This has been a great publishing success, IMO, as these book, even though in paper, are some of the most beautifully designed books I've seen in a while. Plus the stories are top notch, with Hugo Pratt's style a strange but mesmerizing mix of hard nosed adventure realism and mystic surrealism. Really worth checking out.
