I had read it a long time ago and what I remember is that I liked it at that time.
The art was solid and the story was interesting take on superhero genre.
My suggestion will be to pick up the first trade and try it out. It is not a stinker at any rate, so you will not be wasting your time. After that, if you like it; go on and read the other parts.
Sorry, I could not be of any more help.

Actually, that was a great help! Thank you!!

I read Lemire's Joker Killer Smile DLX. It's horrifying in a mental questioning reality way that is executed well. I think it stands up well quality-wise to the Black Label DLX of Harleen. If you enjoyed that one this one is worth you time as well.
Also read volume 3 and 4 of Hell's Paradise (manga). It's been a fun action packed read full of marital arts, a mystery about an island supposedly hiding an elixir of youth, and a main character trying to win and survive to return to his wife.

Are this weeks IST coming soon/new releases that were due this week coming out next week? The “Updated list” is also out of date.
Erik, I think both Absolute Swamp Thing volumes (reprint and vol 2) are supposed to drop next week along with the reprint of the Infinity Gauntlet Omnibus, Dan Slott’s She Hulk, and Hulk omnibus by Peter David vol 2.

I wouldn’t say CGN packs as well as IST, but it’s still pretty good. It’s been a while, but last time I bought from them: packing peanuts or newspaper and plastic grocery bags to wrap the books, which was always a bit odd to me for a business.

I’ve posted about this before, take it however you want. I’ll still use them in a pinch, though, and can’t say anything bad about their packaging. At one point they were my go to for purchases.

I'm sorry to hear about that - it sucks you had to go through with that. When I order from CGN, I usually save up to place one big order. As someone noted, they don't charge sales tax so I can get it cheaper than IST when they run a sale. Once I hit $145, the shipping charge is the same as what IST taxes me for so anything over that makes it cheaper to order from CGN. My last go-around with IST last month I had to wait more than a month for a reply to my e-mail. At the same time, I was e-mailing with CGN and never had to wait more than 48 hours. I know others have different experiences - this is just mine. I read that CGN is actually moving to a new, larger location to accommodate the increased demands. I've recently started pre-ordering from a shop in my home state who matches IST prices. Wherever you get your books from, I wish you all cheap prices and good service :-D

Can you/how do you preorder from IST or CGN? I've clicked around, and I don't see any way to add to cart until the day things come out. Seems like a bit of a crapshoot, opposed to Amazon, where I can guarantee I will get a copy of something many many months in advance.

Discount Comic Book Services (DCBS) is a co-company with IST that allows you to pre-order books within a certain timeframe prior to release. They package the same as IST does. The issue I've heard posted about lately is a few people who pre-ordered very popular books had to be advised DCBS couldn't get enough copies to fulfill all the preorders so it isn't a sure thing (to be fair, that can happen with any company you order from).

Eh, no worries, and sorry about your IST trouble. I’m currently in love with them and their practices, but that could also easily change with a few bad shipments. Like you say, it all comes down to individual experiences, and as I suggested earlier, CGN very well could’ve changed over time. My last purchase from them that one of these problems came from was a good 4 years ago.

Jeff, just out of curiosity: have your Amazon orders been coming in good shape? It took me a while to finally wean myself off of pre-ordering books with them because it was so easy, but repeated shipment damage was the final straw.
I make it a point to never buy books from Amazon these days, so it’s hard to admit that I recently ordered a book set from them because the deal was just too good ($50-100 off compared to a few other sites when I looked around). Tried a suggestion I saw online to order with gift wrapping for extra protection, it maybe helped because the set arrived ok, but still shipped in a box that was 1/3 too big, no extra padding.

Oh, their packaging is just terrible. Got two trades in today that were tossed in a massive box with ZERO packaging. I'm lucky though, and I live within spitting distance of one of their major hubs. Same day and one day shipping on almost all my Prime orders. Hard to destroy a book when it just travels a couple miles down the road.

If I'm understanding their site right, I can preorder omnibuses coming out in March/April 2021, at 50% off cover price??? I mean... yes please?
Follow-up: If I preorder through them, do they ship as stuff is available, or wait until the last item and ship it together?
I'm making my way through DC history, and currently at blackest night. I've bought everything up through Flashpoint, and now these New 52 Omnis coming next year are going to be critical for me. If I want to try and keep on pace, I really need them to arrive in time!

I didn’t realize that about TOW. Their packing is good, free shipping limit is higher but that preorder thing is an issue.
I love IST for price, packaging and decent turn around on email. Not being able to preorder is a pain though and ISTs recent lack of stock is starting to make my eye twitch; I simply can’t log on at 3pm every Tuesday as its one of the busiest times of the day.
IST also hasn’t been offering the traditional 50% off, but rather only 40% or 42%. If I can navigate DCBS I may look to the change as IST isn’t necessarily the cheapest anymore.

Anyone know of a way to limit search parameters on DCBS to just comics or better yet just collected TPB and HC?

After my last post about the X-Men books, I got completely bugged out with fomo and just ordered each book from ToW separately. If my original order comes through I will just sell the extras on eBay or Reddit.
Well I just pre-ordered two books from DCBS, first time (Defenders and Roger Stern Spider-Man Omnis). I hate paying for stuff so early but if it guarantees me a copy, and get the full 50% I think it is worth it. Wanted to also make sure I get the specific covers I wanted.
Will probably go back and order a couple more.
I'm wondering if IST will be phased out to consolidate to DCBS or if IST will just kind of be the warehouse/in stock stuff instead of new stuff.

Blind, I did the same thing last night . . . But more. I didn’t see absolute swamp thing 2 on there, but I’m not worried about it. I too am wondering what DCBS and IST will look like in about a year from now.

I was a day past the order due date but it seems they are keeping it.
I'm debating on the Thunderbolts omni. Will probably wait until it hits the streets and decide. I figured I'll be able to get Absolute Swamp Thing V2 through IST.
Do the new Pre-Order show up weekly on a certain day for DCBS? When and how often should I check back for new stuff?

Personally, I'm still using IST for new stuff (albeit more selective than usual), but I'm mostly buying older books at heavy discounts (e.g. the recent buy 2 get 1 free sales, ebay, comicswaps, etc.).

I ordered this morning and same here. I'll have to get used to the preordering. Used to preorder from CGN years ago before they stopped doing that. We'll see how this with DCBS goes, then.
Tiger is right. I noticed that too. That being said, my habits will likely have me at DCBS 1 time a month and my order will likely be between $150-$500 a month. I’m fine paying the $7.50 knowing I have the preorder in, rather than flipping the coin with IST and having to buy more than $150 to get free shipping with them anyway.
Thanks! I didn’t catch the shipping charge but the guarantee of a preorder seems worth it. I’m sure I’ll do a little of both sites.

I just started using Kowabunga Comics for all my pre-orders. They offer the same prices as IST and I've gotten great customer service. Plus, it's a LCS. They are working on having orders go through their website, but in the meantime you can e-mail them to get info. They'll add you to a monthly preorder sheet where you can place orders.

Also, just now seeing there’s an X of Swords HC coming early next year? Great! But where’s my damn Dawn of X vol. 1 HC??
I saw that too but I’m not getting it if there’s nothing collecting the rest of the series in HC.

DCBS has been out there with IST for several years now so I don't know that I expect a major shift with IST going away or getting much less business. I want to hope we'll get 50% discounts back on IST at some point.
I've seen people state they ordered through DCBS and were given notice when the books arrived they did not have enough to fulfill all orders and IST got copies they put up for sale. While DCBS is likely a sure thing there have been a few instances lately that didn't work out for folks.
There is a new X-men series coming in December titled SWORD. Cable and Magneto on an intergalactic team by Al Ewing. On the fence about checking it out. Cable and Magneto are characters I'm interested in but the others on the team aren't. Link: https://www.cbr.com/x-men-sword-x-of-...
I expect the main X-Men story by Hickman will eventually get an omnibus. But, the surrounding X-Men content by other creators may not be collected in oversize format based on Marvel's past record. Which makes me a bit concerned about my expectation because X of Swords has main story issues from non-Hickman series/creators which normally would mean Marvel would do the main event in an OHC like they are, but then never collect other surrounding material in oversize collections.
I wish they were doing OHCs for everything like DC was doing for The New 52. I also feel like there are too many X-Men titles right now - eleven monthly titles is a bit much and there is no way all that content will get reprinted in oversized hardcovers.
I have ten volumes of content nearly ready for binding collecting the X-men content from Secret Empire to the beginning of Hickman's run on the X-Men. Other than the Disassembled event I don't think any of this will get oversized treatment. Probably an after Christmas project.
I did get my Old Man Logan custom binds in collection all the new Old Man Logan in the 616 universe material in three volumes (by Bendis, Lemire, and Brisson). Looking forward to finishing reading that run.
