The heroine Carrow is a good-time party girl (witch) who is kidnapped by a shady organization at the beginning of this book and forced to lure the hero Malkom (a demon) back to her world, otherwise they'll kill her 7 year-old cousin. I would say a kidnapping is a dramatic life change.
