Hey jingles, is there anything this "Task #4: Read 8 books from a least favorite genre" could be replaced with? Or can I just not do it? If I had a least favorite genre, I'm kinda thinking I wouldn't want to waste time reading anything in it, if that makes sense? Or, since I only do cozies, do I need to pick my least favorite type of cozy? (that could be next to impossible ROTFL!) Thanks bunches!

Good point, Tari. I'll change it to allow for books you rated 3 and below. So to me a three rating is kind of "on the fence". It was okay, but it wasn't great. So to me, if a book is 3 or below, it could be considered a "low" rating.

Now, I understand we all have different ways of rating things, so that is subjective, but I think it's a fair compromise in terms of changing this task.

Will that work?

Sure, that sounds fair! I haven't done a 3 on Amazon after hearing that they consider it a negative (as an eBay seller sometimes, the thought of a negative strikes terror in my heart LOL), but I've done it on GR :)

LOL All but one of the six books I've already read for the "least favorite genre" have all gotten three stars or less, and I suspect that's because they're, well ... from my least favorite genre :)

Sorry I'm too late for the change for you, Barb. I get what you are saying though. I know a least favorite for me is Fantasy, but the thing is (and Tari this may help you as well), you just never know how a book is going to be tagged here on Goodreads.

For example, I think the last J.D. Robb book I read from the In Death series was actually tagged as Fantasy, so that would be a perfect fit for me. I like the series, I know I will like the book, but the real advantage for me is that it was tagged as Fantasy, so that book would work for my Card 8/Task 4.

So I guess what I'm really getting at, is that even though this sounds like a really, really hard task to complete, if you look closely enough, you will probably find some of the books you want to read from your favorite genres that ALSO have tags of some of your least favorite genres.

I haven't actually tackled this task yet though personally, so I don't know exactly how it will play out :)

Hopefully this is information that you can use though to help you complete that part of the challenge.

I try to read a wide variety of books which helps with all my challenges. I definitely have my least favorites - like Barb, most of those will not get rated well. My daughter gives me a hard time about reading books I'm not loving because it's a Y title or something equally important for a challenge. These are the books that will fit this task.

Oh hey that does help, jingles, paying attention to the tags already there if it's something we don't really like. Sometimes I'll be reading a cozy that just doesn't cut it as one I'm used to or like that well, and yup there's usually another tag involved that might make it mostly something else that I don't care a lot for.

I know I'm not a well-rounded reader at all anymore, but I spent most of my life reading all kinds of books (like in school, stuff I didn't want to read but had to) and now that I'm older, I've landed in my happy place with cozies and fit my challenges around them, LOL ::insert goofy face from phone emojis::

My daughter rolls her eyes when I do that, but she understands. None of the rest of my family understand, so I don't bother to tell them about it LOL

LOL I can't tell anyone in the family, only you guys when I do that. Oh yeah I'm reading a book for U, but actually liking it better than I thought I would. I kinda prefer murder in the mix, but a good mystery is nice sometimes too ;) The fam has no idea I do these challenges--I'd probably tell them I do them to keep my brain sharp ROTFL

Thanks, jingles! I'm actually reading one now that I look to only give 3. It's labeled cozy mystery but again, where's the murder ROTFL! The thing keeping me reading it is the author cleverly used the names of characters from some of my fave old sitcoms like Jeannie and Bewitched. I'm drawn to see how it ends haha. I might give it more than 3.

I'm not too young, LOL! I was in early high school listening to him or maybe when I was out (class of 75). Yep I remember those lyrics like yesterday. I also liked his "You Don't Mess Around with Jim".
