From USA Today bestselling author Terri Anne Browning.
With one promise her life was changed…
Saying goodbye to my mother also meant saying goodbye to my life in Virginia. After reluctantly making a promise to my mom, I was California bound with the father who I haven’t seen since I was four years old. I was miserable living under the same roof as my step-monster and the two step-bitches from hell. My only saving grace? Lucy Thornton, daughter to Demon’s Wings’ drummer, Jesse Thornton. Without her friendship—and her odd rocker family taking me in as one of their own—I was sure I would have lost my mind after the first week.
A blast from her past…
I never thought I would see Jace St. Charles again. Honestly, after the way he’d broken my heart, I would have been just fine without having to see his face for the rest of my life. With Lucy’s close friendship with Harris Cutter, owner of the hottest new club in SoCal and Jace’s new boss, I was forced to see that damn face often. Forced to see the way every girl seemed to trip over themselves to get close to him.
A second chance?
Being tossed into one situation after another with Jace made it hard to fight the fact that I wasn’t as immune to him as I wanted to be. But, damn it, I was only human and he was hell bent on winning me back.

Terri Anne Browning is a USA TODAY bestselling author. Being dyslexic, she never thought a career in writing would be possible, yet she has been on bestselling lists multiple times since 2013. Reese: A Safe Haven Novella was her first Indie published book. The Rocker Who Holds Me changed the tables and kicked off The Rocker... series featuring the sinfully delicious members of Demon's Wings. The Rocker... Series is now complete with 12 books and the occasional novella. Other books by Terri Anne include the Angel's Halo MC Series, as well as The Lucy & Harris Novella Series, The Vitucci Mafiosos Series, and The Tainted Knights Rocker Series.
Terri Anne lives in Virginia with her husband, their three demons---err, children--and a hyper Frenchie named Grunt.
This book is kinda useless in my opinion :/ Why? Because from chapter 1 - 18 all are just the repetition of the previous book (Craving Lucy) but told in Kin and Jace POV. I don't know why Terri Anne Browning even wrote this book.. It just makes everything more complicated, in my opinion.
This series is a spin-off of The Rocker series. And this book (Rocking Kin) is like the spin-off of Lucy and Harris Series. So it's like a spin-off in spin-off. Do you get what I mean?
The first 18 chapters really have nothing to do with the previous book which was left hanging. The ending of previous book really drove me insane because of the cliffhanger, so I want to find out what happens next as soon as possible. But apparently I have to wait until chapter 19 of this book to get the answer
The title of this series is Lucy and Harris, so wasn't it supposed to be just about Lucy and Harris? Why put Kin and Jace story in it too?? And the ending of this book is still a cliffhanger too.
Rocking Kin was the third book in the Lucy & Harris series by Terri Anne Browning. We met Kin previously as Lucy’s best friend while a senior in high school and Jace was Harris’ friend and the lead singer for Tainted Knights.
Admittedly, I was a little confused why this was part of the Lucy & Harris series because they totally deserved their own book. However, Browning’s timeline of the story aligned with the previous books in the series, filling in some gaps with Jace and Kim’s POV and then provided the bridge between books two and four. I enjoyed the story and the characters, but I craved more depth and dimension. Otherwise, it was a great story and I can’t wait to hear more while completing Lucy and Harris’ journey. Onward to Un-shattering Lucy!
Ever since I started reading Terri Anne Browning's works, I became addicted to her characters and to be honest they were one's I've been rooting for since then. You do not know how glad I am when I learned that the kids are having their share of the story and the good thing about it is I will be reading glimpses of the other characters I've grown to love and adored.
Kin and Jace's story is no different. Since reading the first two books in this series, I was intrigue as to who Kin and Jace is and mostly what are their contribution to the story and WHAT IS THEIR STORY. I am so damn excited that I immediately dig in and binge read the book. Kin is Lucy's best friend while Jace is Harris' friend too but more than just being the "friends" we've known them to be lies a beautiful story. How they met, how they were separated and what went through over the span of separation. The blurb pretty much says what Rocking Kin is all about and when you have read Catching Lucy and Craving Lucy, you will already have a hint as to who these two are so I'm not gonna spoil you anything and will just recommend you to read it.
So my thoughts? Rocking Kin is a beautiful story of love of second chances. It's a light read, fast paced with twists and turns that made the story more edgier. Another bonus is the fact that it's a rock star story with a sweet, sassy and a strong heroine that made me more interested in the story. Her life from then and present may be a bit different but the love of family even not blood related really got me. Her friendship with Lucy and her interaction with Jace is worth reading although to be honest I wanted more of them. I mean, I wanted it to be just "their story". I love the exposures of the other character but I think even how beautiful it was, it lacks something that means and could be branded as "Jace and Kin". I like the story though. I just wanted to smack some sense to Jace at times but I like how cute and adorable they are together. They are just so sweet and their chemistry is really undeniable. I even laugh out loud to some of the scenes and trust me some scenes are even tear jerker. To top it all, really the story is good and I want more of them.Oh, Kin really ROCKS!
I can't wait for the next book to come out! Terri Anne Browning you did not disappoint!!!
*ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review*
In Craving Lucy we were left with a big cliffhanger with Harris & Lucy. Rocking Kin takes place within that same storyline and ends right after the incident.
*Do not read this review unless you have read Craving Lucy as it will have spoilers
Kin & Jace is the focus of this book. KIn moves from Virginia to live with her birth father Scott after making a promise to her dying mother. She promised to live with Scott and his family until she was 18. Thank goodness 18 is not that far away. At this point Kin feels like it is a lifetime to get to 18.
Kin is living in hell. Complete with the absent father she is supposed to "get to know" a Step-Monster from the depths of hell and 2 step-bitch sisters. But she has no fairy godmother to rescue her. Kin left her loving step father Carter and her best friends and step brother Caleb and step sister Angie in Virginia. She misses them with every passing day. Her only light in California is her new friend Lucy Thornton.
Lucy and Kin became best friends quickly and Lucy having a DEMON for a dad and a former best friend with a new club, Lucy has some connections. Lucy and Kin attend First Bass, Harris Cutters in club. While Harris and Lucy deal with their own relationship and try to mend any damage, Kin is dealing with seeing Jace again.
Jace left Virginia and dumped Kin in the process to follow the money and his music. Kin understood following his dreams with music but he did not have to breakup with her and break her heart in the process. Jace left as Kin was dealing with finding out her mother had cancer and was about to leave them for good. Kin needed Jace there with her for support and he never looked back.
Now after seeing Kin again, Jace knows he has to get her back. Jace has missed Kin every single day they have been apart. And he is curious what she is doing in California. Jace needs to know that Kin is okay.
***SPOILER ALERT, READ ONLY IF YOU FINISHED ROCKING KIN***
Kin is really good at the COLD SHOULDER and IGNORING Jace. The boy is putting his soul out there and Kin is just not having it. But eventually Jace wears Kin down and she decides they need to at least be friends and hash out the past and the hurt feelings that went along with them. But when Jace confesses his love for her and that he was an idiot Kin cannot hang on to the anger.
Kin goes through rough times with her CA family and her step-monster. She finds an ally in Carolina the youngest of the 2 step sisters and realizes Carolina is in hell as well. Georgia is the terroir and just like her mother. Kin wishes she could take Carolina with her when she leaves but she has 3 more years until she is 18 and free.
Kin decides to stay in California and go to UCLA. Her and Jace are doing great but she is worried about her best friend Lucy. With Harris and Lucy's breakup, neither are doing well without the other. Lucy has agreed to move for school and go to Georgetown and hopefully feel better and get on with her life without Harris Cutter. Kin is sad and knows that her life will change as well with Lucy leaving.
I like Jace and Kin together and Jace was an idiot but knows that he was and tries very hard to win Kin's heart and trust back.
I have to say I am so anxious to read Un-Shattering Lucy. I mean Harris and Lucy are who we need to know about. If you read The Rocker series than you have been following Lucy for awhile and fallen in love, I'm sure. I have already Pre-Ordered and have to hold on until August.
McKinley "Kin" Montez' life is a little like Cinderella's. Her mom just died and she has to leave Virginia and the only family she's ever known to move to her father's house in California. Her mom was married to Carter Jacobsen and she was raised with her step siblings, Carter and Angie. They are her family, not Scott Montez who she hasn't seen in 13 years. But her mom made her promise that for her last year of high school she would live with her dad and get to know him. A promise is a promise and even if her heart is breaking, she will be 18 in a year so she can always go back.
Scott's wife, Jillian is a vicious, vain bitch. She shows one face for the cameras and another behind them. She uses the paparazzi's interest in Kin to get her own daughters faces in the media. She looks for any excuse to make Kin miserable. Not long after she's started at her new school she's befriended by Lucy, a slightly pushy chick who seems to have taken her under her wing. But Kin's pretty shocked to find out that Lucy is none other than Jesse Thornton's adopted daughter. He's the drummer for Demon's Wings and Lucy is infamous around her school.
Lucy takes Kin to First Bass, her friend Harris Cutter's new bar. But for Kin what starts out as a great night away from the step monster from hell, turns out to be even more of a nightmare. She sees Jace St. Charles, the singer for Tainted Knights and her ex. He dropped her like a hot potato when her mom was sick and she needed him most. He had a chance to move out to the West Coast for his band. He took it and never looked back.
Jace St Charles had left me when I'd needed him the most. Not two days after I'd cried myself to sleep on his shoulder because I was scared of the thought of losing my mother, Jace had broken up with me. He was taking off with his band, Tainted Knights, and didn't want to be tied down. He'd broken my heart, and I hadn't tried to put it back together.
Jace has had regrets since leaving Kin behind. He knew his big chance was staring him in the face but he would have to leave Kin. He chose the band after convincing himself that things between them would more than likely not work out anyway. He's buried his feelings for Kin and settles for groupies and one night stands. But once Kin is back in his life again, he knows they were meant to be together and he's not going to let her go again.
This girl was my world and I'd fucked up royally when I'd walked away from her.
Kin has more than enough reasons to distrust Jace. He maybe pursuing her again, but he would just end up leaving her again, once the next big offer comes in. But he is relentless and she is lonely.
If anything it just made my own aching heart ache all the more. I couldn't even begin to guess why he would still care after so many months had passed without so much as a word from him. He hadn't tried to keep up with what was going on in my life.
Meanwhile, Harris and Lucy's complicated relationship gets even more complicated.
While we don't get many answers to what is going on with Lucy and Harris (we will just have to wait for the last book of their series to release) Kin and Jace battle and love their way through this story. While I couldn't forgive Jace for abandoning Kin when she needed him most and never looking back, they are both young and will make mistakes. This is a great second chance at love story about forgiveness and friendship and loyalty.
I had the girl I loved. I had my family, friends and career. Nothing else mattered.
3.5 stars I like the ending and I like the series, even though the men are all assholes at one point or another. I really was surprised how she forgave Jace for leaving her when her mother was DYING! Who the frig does that to someone they love? Just ending it? Holy frig! I would never have forgiven that. I mean how much do you love her? Not much if you leave her after taking her virginity and finding out she is about to go through the most horrible trauma of her life. Anyway, she forgives and it's a HEA or for now I guess but they are happy and a couple and in love. He did have sex with other(s) while they were separated for a few months. She didn't, you know, because she wAs with her DYING MOTHER, while he was off being Mr. Rockstar. He was just an asshole to me, even though he tries everything to get her back and is with none when she comes into town. I just couldn't get past how he just scraped her off and went on. Yes, he says he made a mistake and thought about her everyday. He never went back though, and didn't regret that he was with his band. If she hadn't come to town he wouldn't have been with her. Idk, it's a happy ending so there's that I guess. I did like the series so I will give it a 3.5.

I loved Kin's character she's funny, loyal, determined, strong but she's struggling after losing her mother and having to move which brings her into contact with Jace her first love. Really enjoyed her friendship with Lucy and her step siblings. The story focuses on how she deals with all these changes (and she does it in style ) and her relationship with Jace. I loved that she doesn't give in too easy to him it's funny to watch his confusion on how to proceed. Another great instalment in this mini series. **Reviewed For Sweet Spot Sisterhood Blog**
Okay I am REALLY god damn happy there will be a book 3, since I just tortured myself re-reading book 2 AGAIN !!. I am NOT digging the title thought.......Christ I hope Terri Anne doesn't shatter me !. PLEASE Terri Anne let these two get their HEA xxx
Rocking Kin (Lucy & Harris #3) by Terri Anne Browning
When Kin needed him most Jace St. Charles bailed on her, leaving her broken. She was forced to follow her mother’s dying wish for her to get to know her birth father and his family. Not long after her mother’s passing she moves out to California for a year of misery.
Jace made the horrible decision to break up with Kin before pursuing his dream of being a rock star. He realizes what a mistake it was too late. He never thought he would see her again until she’s standing in front of him at his best friend’s club First Bass. Why is she in California? What has been going on in her life since he life her in Virginia? It doesn’t take Jace long to decide he needs to do everything in his power to get her to forgive him, take him back and give him and their love the second change it deserves.
Will Kin risk her heart again? Or has she moved on?
Kin was a strong, brave young woman. She has been through a lot losing her mom at such a young and then being up rooted to live with a father she barely knows. All to fulfill her mother’s dying wish and in the midst of being heartbroken because her boyfriend the guy she thought loved that she gave herself to—her breaks her heart. She meets Lucy in California and they build a fast friendship. When she meets up with Jace unexpectedly the sparks fly immediately.
I really loved this part of the Lucy and Harris series. I liked how the author took us back running this story parallel to the previous two books that featured Lucy and Harris. The friendship between Lucy and Kin is sweet and very realistic. I loved how they helped and supported each other like true friends. Kin’s other relationships with her step dad and step siblings were just as great to read. Jace was sexy and sweet, I loved how determined he was to get Kin to notice him and realize they belong together. It was endearing how he never gave up on her taking all of her anger at him because he knew he broke her when he left her in Virginia. I was also very intrigued by the other guys in the Tainted Knights I look forward to that new series. Grayson and Kessa will be a great story I can tell especially when Jace her brother picks up on what the rest of us already have Gray is totally in love with his sister.
I especially liked how Terri brought in the issues that were plaguing Lucy and Harris at the end of the previous book with Tessa causing all kinds of trouble for them. My heart broke for both Lucy and Harris after the incident that breaks them up. I agree with Layla Lucy and Harris need this time apart to grow with themselves. The distance will only make them realize later how much they want to be with each other.
Another great story, with tender young love, passion, strong family bonds and friendships. I definitely recommend the series especially the Rocker Series fans. Lucy and Harris need their happily ever after.
I love Terri's work! Something about her writing just stirs up so emotion when I'm reading and I can't put her books down, not that I want to!
We first meet Kin and Jace in the first Lucy and Harris book. Kin is new to LA and befriends Lucy at school and they bond over their love of rock. Harris and Jace are already friends since Tainted Knights have a year long contract with Harris' club. What no one knows in LA is that Kin and Jace have a past and when he moved to LA with the band he left Kin broken hearted in Virginia.
For the first half of the book Kin is very unforgiving of Jace because he left her shortly after finding out her mother had about 6 months to live. It's very understandable why Kin would hold a grudge because Jace was her first love and left her when she needed him the most. Lucky for Jace, Kin doesn't have it in her to be mean and cold to him for very long.
The chemistry between these two could be felt when you meet them in the first Lucy books. Since you know more about Kin going into this one some of Jace's past is surprising but I can see it coming into play when Gray gets his book.
The ending of this book surprised me with the drama of Harris and Lucy from Tessa. Terri kind of clears up some of the cliffhanger from book 2 but leads this book right into the last one for Lucy and Harris. While I loved this book I can't wait to see more from this series and the ones that have branched off from this with the Tainted Knights (love this new band name)!
4 star Review This is the first book I have read in this series and at times I wished I had read the previous books first but even saying that I really enjoyed Rocking Kin. This is all about second chance romance. Kin and Jace met when she was 17 they fell in love everything was perfect till he broke up with her 3 months later because he wanted to move forward with his band. Kin is heartbroken and then her sick mother passes away and she finds herself living with a father and family she hardly knows. Jace is in a bar when Kin walks in and all those loving feelings come flooding back, he knows he needs to win her back but will the past get in the way. This is a beautiful story and the author has done a amazing job putting words to paper. The characters have chemistry but they also have their ups and downs. I will be going back to read the previous books in this series
From the first novella in this series Kin and Jace intrigued me. Even though I'm anxious to know the rest of Lucy and Harris' story I loved this book. I was hoping they would have a book to their own with more to their story. I hate spoilers so I will try to leave them out. Kin was thrown into a life she wants nothing to do with after a tragedy that's left her feeling empty. Her friendship with Lucy was kinship right from the start. She felt like she had people who she could count on. What she never counted on was running into Jace in the city that she didn't want to be in. This story is explosive and heart clenching. I loved it all. I can't wait for the next book to not only see what happens between Lucy and Harris but to see how Kin and Jace are doing. * Reviewed for Sweet Spot Sisterhood *
There are some parts from Catching Lucy and Craving Lucy that are told in a different POV in this book, but this should not be read as a standalone.
I love Kin!!! Her "step monster" and family are really a piece of work. No wonder Kin is as feisty as she is. I would be too living with those people. It was good to get a bit more of her sass and dig into her and Jace a bit more and I loved their second chance, but dang if I am not dying to figure out the fate of Lucy and Harris.
Ah another great installment. I just love Terri Anne Browning and her rocker stories. I just want more and more :)
The story centers around Kin and Jace who have a history together from their younger days. A heartbreaking event leaves Kin to live with her father and the ugly stepmother, in Malibu. I love a female lead like Kin, she's as strong as they come and it was so nice reading her story. I know this novella was focused on Jace and Kin, but I cannot wait to get the rest of Lucy and Harris’s story. My heart shattered for them both!
With Terri Anne Browning you can always expect a great book. And no one does rockers like she does.
I loved Kin's sassy personality. She reminded me so much of myself. Fearece but a very emotional person. A caring heart but don't take any BS.
Jace really made me mad. At first I didn't like him. But after a while, he grew on me. I can't wait to read more about them.
Lucy has always been one of my favorite characters. I admit I jumped head first into this series by reading this book first. So I am going back to see how this series started.
I waited absolutely too long to continue reading this series! I am a huge fan of Terry Anne Browning, and her rocker series gives me life. It is one of my all-time favorite series, and I am in complete love with all of the characters that I have met along the way in her books. To say that I was excited for Lucy and for Harris’s story is an understatement. I was beyond ready to see what would happen for those two. Especially after the way this series has started with them. I loved that this book filled in more answers to everything that I wanted, and also had me equally eager for more!
Rocking Kin filled in so many questions I had about Kin and Jace and how their story overlaps with Lucy and with Harris. I loved getting to see it all unfold. I loved how it completely pulled me in to everything I was reading. I loved that it had me even more desperate for answers and more time with these characters. I loved it all. This was another phenomenal read that I could not put down.
If you are a fan of this series, then you’ll love getting this story. You’ll love what it says up, you will love what it gives you with Kin and with Jace, and you will love how it continues to envelop you within a world that you won’t be able to get enough of. The story was enjoyable from start to finish and I can’t say it enough!
Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review... Another fabulous book from Terri Anne Browning! I've missed a bunch of this series and man I've got to get caught up!? Every one of her books sucks me in from page one and Rocking Kin was no different! Kin is struggling after the loss of her mother, having promised to move in with her Father, a man who has been non-existent in her life until now. Moved across the country, away from the only family she knows and loves, finding herself in a house she'll never consider home, surrounded by people who are family by name alone... Thankfully she meets Lucy, her new best friend and until Jace, a ghost from her past comes back into the picture, everything seemed manageable. But now he's back and her heart can't take another hit.... Fabulous rocker series & author, incredibly beautiful story, I couldn't help but fall in love with everyone of these characters. HIGHLY recommended book, series & author!!
I really enjoyed getting to read about Kin and Jace. While most of the story is the same story we saw in the first two books, it's all told in Kin and Jace's perspectives. It was interesting seeing things happen with different eyes, and I really enjoyed getting to see Kin and Jace's relationship develop over time. While some spots could be a little boring because they were taken from the previous books, I did enjoy reading the thoughts of Kin and Jace as well as getting the extra details filled in that we didn't get in Lucy and Harris's perspectives. I hope we get to see more of these two in the last book in the series! It wouldn't be the same without them.
I usually am a big fan of this authors work but to me this book was a recap of what happened in the previous books but in Kin and Jace's POV. On top of that it wasn't even interesting about what was happening in Kin and Jace's relationship. It was pretty much skimmed over and boring. Plus what was revealed about her life with her father and step mother just never was completely explained. Why did the step hate her so much, and why all of a sudden did she just check out of Kin's life and never mentioned except to say she was keeping away from her. Not the best but will continue reading this author since she usually is able to knock it out of the park.
I don’t like the direction that this series is going. Kin and Jace are fine (nothing extraordinary, but fine), but where this went with the Lucy and Harris plotline didn’t fly with me.
SPOILER WARNING: . . . . . . Harris is sexually assaulted in this book. There’s no gray morality about it or forgiveness to grovel for. He was drugged and assaulted. If the same situation were to take place with the heroine, there would outrage if the author treated the situation like it was treated in this.
There’s so much that happens in this latest addition!!!! Definitely an emotional roller coaster. Glad Kin and Jace worked things out. Absolutely in agony about Lucy and Harris right now, for them as a couple and as individuals. Wondering if Jillian gets what’s coming to her - b!tch!!! All-in-all another great addition to the series.
This was a refreshing take on Jace, and Kin roller coaster romance ride to rekindling their love. Harris and Lucys romance takes a twist with Jenna(friend like a sister) girlfriend, Tessa takes revenge against Harris by drugging him, and staging a horrible video of them and sending to Lucy. Lots happens in this book.
Ohhh, mucho mejor.
I love this series so much. The characters are so endearing and I love that you let them all enter twine. This book however was slightly disappointing in the everything that it went through we had already read in another book. There were so few things that were different,It seems like a waste. But I do truly love the story
Loved this book. Even though you knew some of the story of Kin from the first 2 Lucy books, this gives you the back story of Kin and Jace and the struggle to forgive and move on. It also gives more insight to how Jace reacted when Harris was found.
This was good story but not what I was expecting in the series about Lucy and Harris. This was all about Kin and Jace. Left with more questions than answers. Well written just wish it followed the series better.
