so sorry! My mistake, I checked publication date only and I forgot to check main date - original publication date.

Even though... this edition https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... has already been done but this edition is still showing with an incorrect date and the now 'fired' publisher.

And how come https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4... has a 1 star rating with no actual ratings attached?

That is not a librarians' group issue. Also, I don't know.

The Kindle edition was edited on the 13th to reflect the new publisher. The paperback edition was not. Whether that was an oversight or not I'm not sure.

From the author's Q&A on the website via Twitter:

"Q: I noticed the paperbacks are still up for sale most everywhere, both the mass market and trade paperbacks. Can I buy those?

A: No. Those are still affiliated with Dreamspinner and will be coming down. I was told it takes up to thirty days for the listing to come down, so it will take time. Once it does, I will post my own paperbacks. It might be a pain the ass, but scroll down to the book info. You know you’re buying the right version if it’s for sale by BOATK Books. Anything else is not mine, and will be taken down shortly."

I don't know if that means the author is leaving it until that time or if it was an oversight when the Kindle edition was updated.

Someone else may want to weigh in, or you may want to ask the author.

Yes, this exactly. The TJ ones required more than just adding the original pub date which I didn't have time to look into.

annob [on hiatus] (annob) | 4048 comments Regarding the author TJ Klune, it's an unusual situation where the rights have reverted from the publisher back to the author, but the publisher haven't delisted the books from retail sites like Amazon.

The paperback edition of Brothersong is still available for preorder with the details matching the Goodreads record (publisher Dreamspinner etc), which I belive is reason to retain the GR record unchanged for now.

Besides, we do not know if the author will reuse the ISBNs currently listed on Goodreads, or self publish his paperback with brand new ISBNs. Until we know these details, that is to me a second reason why the existing paperback record shouldn't be changed at the moment.

As a HUGE fan of Wolfsong in particular and the series overall, I've been keeping a close eye on his problems with DSP and I had noticed that the paperbacks were still listed but not wanted to bother TJ with more questions as he already has his hands full dealing with the mess. Someone on his blog had mentioned being able to reuse the ISBN's so I suppose it is possible that he may do that at some point.

annob [on hiatus] (annob) | 4048 comments I happen to be a fan of Klune too. :) As a Goodreads Author, he has the ability to contact Support (staff) and request that any book record (edition with specific ISBNs or ASIN) which have been cancelled prior to publication to be deleted from Goodreads. Only staff are allowed to carry out such deletions. https://help.goodreads.com/s/article/... (Second paragraph on this help page.)

If the author doesn't request deletions, any ISBN/ASIN that remains on GR without the ISBNs being reused (as in; never was published) should probably be handled like a cancelled publication; to have the 'edition publication date' blanked out and information about the cancellation added to a change comment or a Librarian note - the latter I think is easier to spot. I don't think adding the cancellation info the to edition description text could hurt either, similarly to the out-of-print information policy.
