I really, really tried to finish Atlas of Improbable Places: A Journey to the World's Most Unusual Corners in 2018, but couldn't quite make it over the line. But now it's my first book finished for 2019!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
My first review for 2019Live and Let Chai by Bree Baker

Hi lovely people - my first review posted for 2019 is for Cedar Valley by Aussie Author Holly Throsby - and it's a big 5 stars from me :) https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
As soon as I knew that The Rosie Result was coming out, it was on my wishlist. And lucky me, a copy from Text with a personal letter from Graeme Simsion! But not until I began reading did I realise how much I'd missed Don Tillman. This is a great dose of Don, and a great end to the trilogy, a big 5★s from me. But Graeme, if you ever feel like revisiting Don and Rosie and Hudson (maybe a short story or some edited bits from this one???) I know we Don fans will welcome it with open arms!

Thanks to a sore throat and ear infection, meaning I did not go to work today, I have finished my second book for the month/year. Any Ordinary Day: What Happens After the Worst Day of Your Life? by Leigh Sales. Not my usual type of book, but also not quite what I was expecting (I tend to skim reviews and blurbs so as not to spoil the surprise) I enjoyed this book, and particularly found the personal reflections on the role/behaviour of journalists interesting.

We know there is A Rule Against Murder, but one takes place anyway in Louise Penny's picturesque Quebec. I am not alone in loving Chief Inspector Armand Gamache and Penny's delicious, atmospheric writing. (aka The Murder Stone)
4.5★ Link to my review
Finished my first and WHAT A START!!This one was a group read with guest author for another group and it was incredible.
The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay
Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Good idea to start a 2019 thread Brenda 😀👍🏻I finished
Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts - the second in the The Chronicles of The OneMy review is here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The final book THE RISE OF MAGICKS is not due out till 2020!
This was actually my last read for 2018 (still catching up!) so I don't know if you want me to post here or on the previous thread?
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi is a ya fantasy and has been getting a lot of 5★ reviews from that group. However I felt it fell down badly on the world building to the point of being distracting and confusing. So although the adventure side of it was quite good I could only give it 3★, but please don't let me put you off if you intend reading it - many clearly loved it!review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Finally finished reading Eliot Ness: The Rise and Fall of an American Hero by Douglas Perry today.

That's one of the reasons why I write reviews - to prompt the memory when the next book comes out :)

I remember writing a review for this last year but it's still marked as currently reading (it was hiding behind the other books I hadn't reviewed!) so I guess the review wasn't saved. So here is take 2:
Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak 5★https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Well, almost a year after reading #1 in the Chronicles of One series by Nora Roberts, I've read the second installment Of Blood and Bone (glad I kept my review notes) and it was easily as good. I'm looking forward to #3, The Rise of Magicks, but I wish I didn't have to wait nearly a year for that one. 5★s

Both Christmas and post-WWI France feature in Aussie author Jackie French’s novella With Love from Miss Lily: A Christmas Story. Not so much sugar and spice - more like Spanish Flu and a surprising bit of intrigue!
3.5>4★ https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I became very fond of “reincarnated” Virgil Wander and the varied characters in Leif Enger’s excellent new novel.
4.5★https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
As a horror fan, I can't believe it took me so long to read The Omen by David Seltzer
My (short) review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
easily a 5-star horror!
