Read the Alphabet Challenge (2018 thru 2021)
From the category "it's the little things" - I got very excited yesterday when I noticed Sue Grafton's "Q is for Quarry" on an ebook sale. I was thinking it might be hard to find a "Q", and then it fell into my lap. :-)

Mike, if you write it I'll read it 😊
Mike, if you write it I'll read it 😊
I've just added Judgment Call by J.A. JanceSo, I've finally reached 20 titles read. Only 6 to go! :)
Another one added :)The Thin Man by Dashiell Hammett
An excellent book!
Just 5 more to go - unfortunately I'm coming up towards those awkward to find titles :/ lol
Ok got 'L' ticked off. STILL looking high and low for an X book. I might manage a Q one at some point.14 books in so over half way
I've crossed the 'N' book off my list (message 8)So I'm 23 books in, and only 3 more to finish!
I have two of the titles lined up and ready to read, it's only the 'Y' title I don't have yet, but I'm not too worried :D
I'm down to 2 left (message 43 above). I've got Steph Cha's Your House Will Pay lined up as a group read in a few months, and that will leave me with just the letter U, and I already have one in mind.
Ok so looked at my bookshelves and I have books for all letters except U X Y. it might mean reading a couple of Rebus books out of order but what the heck.
Barbara wrote: "Here's my starter list. Most from 2019, but a couple from late 2018 (since I'm late to the challenge...)A –. All This I Will Give to You/Redondo
B – Before She Knew Him/Peter Swanson
C – Crimson ..."
Congratulations, Barbara.
Barbara, can you please add your rating and link to the title of the book. It can help other members who might be interested in the same books as you.
Barbara wrote: "Finished! Message #43. An interesting way to organize reading choices. :-)"I agree, Barbara. Most groups have an alphabetic challenge by either title or author - it allows members who want to do a group challenge but do not have the time to do a more involved challenge.
Barbara wrote: "Finished! Message #43. An interesting way to organize reading choices. :-)"Congrats Barbara, I will update mine.
Jenny wrote: "Barbara, can you please add your rating and link to the title of the book. As I was going through the list just now I was tempted to replace alternate books that I read subsequent to when I started the list, and which I may have liked more, but then I decided to leave it as it was.
I also noticed that there were a number of books on the list that were far less popular with me than with most readers (Gone Girl and Rebecca, for instance). :-)
Finally, it was also obvious to me that in order to fill in the most troublesome letters I ended up reading a few books I would otherwise not have selected, with mixed results. To get my "Z" for instance, I actually finished reading Zodiac, which was easily the worst book I read in 2019 and which I would otherwise have dumped in the trash about 25% of the way in!
Barbara, we differ on our rating for Gone Girl when I read it a few years ago. Zodiac will be my Z book on my list & saw some negative reviews about this. i'm kinda hesitant to read it for this year. BTW, congrats for finishing the challenge!
Thanks, Jezzy! I know I'm in the minority with Gone Girl. It's a great example of how opinions differ, even on books we expect to like. That's why you may find that you like Zodiac. It's a pretty quick read.

I've still got to get UVXY. Not sure I'll get it done.

Sheri, i'm also having doubts if i'll finish this challenge. i need another month long extension for it.

I'm stealing this book from you Barbara. I found it online from the NY Society Library and read it that way. Starts with the correct letter and only has 58 pages. Great find!!!
I have a question. The cover of the book I read online gives the title of XYZ A Detective Story - A Classic Mystery Collection by Anna Catherine Green but I can't find that in a GR search.

Great, Sheri! I mentioned it thinking someone might find it a helpful tip. I listened from Audible, where it was a stand-alone, not part of a collection. That leaves you with just U, V and Y. There seem to be quite a few crime novels, psych thrillers especially, that begin with Y.

I found the audio from LibroVox that's only a little over an hour long. I'll let it play while I clean up. It's a nice little book.

I still need V and Y and it's not happening. I've got 3 books on my nightstand and they don't fit the bill and I'm not adding another one. It was a fun challenge. 🎄
Super proud of those of you who completed it. 📚

Good work, Sheri, getting it down to just two! Challenges are fun, but not when they take you too far from other reading you really enjoy. I’m glad I have another year to finish “Around the world in 80 books “. It will definitely take me that long to finish, and I’m not sure I will make it!
