I started Hope Never Dies by Andrew Shaffer last night. Described as the first Obama/Biden fan fiction for people disturbed by the current US administration, I am 8 chapters in and its hilarious.

In the last weeks I've read and very much enjoyed three great books:
A Spark of Light
The Spotted Dog
and Unsheltered
none of which I can pass on to Mum to read, although she would have really enjoyed each one, because her memory is so poor she can no longer remember what she has read.

I've made a start on City of Crows for the Aussie Authors challenge. For some reason I'd expected it to be harder to read than it actually is - maybe I read one or two reviews that gave me that impression. Also, it's a good deal shorter than I thought, at just over 300 pages.

Just on the last of a trilogy by the lovely author Juliet Marillier, currently living in Perth I believe. The last book in the Shadowfell trilogy is which is a lot of fun, though I am not loving it quite as much as the last two - a bit too much recap, the curse of trilogies.

Not an Australian author, but: just about halfway through The People In The Trees by Hanya Yanagihara, and it's an engrossing story. I like the format it's written in, as well; the footnotes and semi-academic layout fit the story nicely and just add to the tone of the story.

Last night I started Behind the Bell: Behind the Scenes of Saved by the Bell with the Guy Who Was There for Everything by Dustin Diamond. I am reading this for 'a book with bad reviews' challenge and it is truly awful. LOL

Yesterday I finished The Peacock Summer by Hannah Richell; my first non re-read book of this year. I'm giving it a 3 star rating mainly because it is a light read and easily digestible. No review as my brain is not quite up to that just yet.

I tried to read The Diary of a Booksellerbut it was so boring - it was literally a diary of every little thing that happened in his day. I was hoping it would get better but my principal spotted i was reading it and told me it doesn't. There are too many good books to read to get stuck reading a bad one so i returned it to the library!

The nice people at Scribe sent me Miss Kopp Just Won't Quit by Amy Stewart. It's #4 in the Kopp Sisters series, but I can see already that I'll be going back for #1-#3. Luckily, the library has them :)
