Started my very first buddy read today - The Passage by Justin Cronin.
I'm finally getting through books that have been on my TBR for too long!

Hope your book turns up soon!

I didn't know this had been made into a TV drama either! What's it called Sally?

Its a BBC production and is called STRIKE - Rowlings is the executive producer on the show - http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/late...
The actors are supurb!!! especially Tom Burke who plays Cormoran Strike - has got the 'mentally and physically damaged trying to live a normal life' war veteran down pat

I'm looking forward to watching the series, but will wait till I've read at least this first book.
I'm currently half way through the serial killer thriller The Fifth To Die by J.D. Barker, the follow up to The Fourth Monkey and all I can say is Whew!! Even more high octane than the first book!

I have that here at home to read. A lady at work raves about it.
I have almost finished The Gift of Rain by Malaysian author Tan Twan Eng. The book was long-listed for the Man Booker when it was published but it has taken me longer than usual to read it and I'm not sure whether I like it or not. It's interesting though. Back to Aussie authors next, maybe some non-fiction.
I just purchased on my Kindle The Memories of Us: The best feel-good romance to take with you on your summer holidays in 2018. It has started out really well!
That's an excellent novel Heather - released here in Australia as The Memories That Make Us in March this year :)
Brenda wrote: "That's an excellent novel Heather - released here in Australia as The Memories That Make Us in March this year :)"I'm about 1\4 into the book. So far it is quite captivating. I can't wait to see how Gracie finds herself!
My next load of books loaded on my iPad are:
The Brakys' Lair by Alexandra Moody - 2nd in the series, loving this one so far as much as the first
The Fairy-Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley - the two orphaned Grimm sisters have been sent to their grandmother - only thing is, they don't have one!!!
Ive just picked up my latest ‘Physical’ book
After the Lights Go Out by Aussie writer Lili Wilkinson and WOW!Prue’s father Is a paranoid doomsday prepper - remote homestead, homeschooling kids and a hidden bunker proofed against anything that can happen from chemical warfare to alien attack.
Her father goes away for a few days and the power goes out - anything electronic stops. What now?
I have started Marlon James' debut novel, John Crow's Devil. I loved his recent Booker winner. This guy really paints a picture.
I just started reading The Talented Mr. Ripley. I've never watched the film, and also hadn't realised the book was written in 1956 - by the same author of Strangers on a Train, the skilled Patricia Highsmith. I'm only 80 pages in but it's a very engaging psychological thriller in which the crafty young Mr. Ripley is recruited by a very wealthy gentleman to go to Italy to entice his son to go back to the states.

Is it based on a true story?

No Jazzy - just his imagination
Sally906 wrote: "No Jazzy - just his imagination"Ah, well there were so many stories in the news of things like this happening that I wondered if it was a dramatisation of one of the accounts :)
I've just finished an absolutely wonderful book,
Boy Swallows Universe by Aussie author Trent Dalton. 5+ stars and straight to my top 5 list this year!(review to follow on the weekend).
Still available for request on NetGalley!

You would think that many of our Crime authors would be influenced by things they see on the news :)

It's a fat book, Dale, but I enjoyed it.
Reading Breath by Tim Winton this is only my 3rd attempt at a Tim Winton book - I had to read one for Year 12 English many years ago and hated it. Then a few years ago the Year 12s at the school I work at did Cloudstreet and wanted me to read it too (i think they just wanted help with their homework!) i started it but it annoyed me too much with bad grammar and punctuation. So far Breath is ok although its only my 'lunchtime' book and certainly hasn't grabbed me enough to just want to sit and finish it.
Just finished reading The Night Circus by Erin MorgensternI did enjoy it, Brenda! It is a superbly written imaginative and magical book.

Krystal wrote: "Hope your book turns up soon!"Many thanks, Krystal! My book turned up last week and I finished it yesterday! The Wilderness Family: At Home with Africa's Wildlife by Kobie Krüger Beautifully written memoir of raising a young family on game reserve in South Africa.
Just about to start The Tea Rose by Jennifer Donnelly. This is a favourite of a couple of work colleagues so interested to see if I enjoy it.
