I agree with all that Groovy stated - I'm sorry for the difficult times in your family Amber and wish everyone a good 2016.
Amber, so sorry for your loss and it's also sad about your Christmas. Wishing you a much better 2016. Both of us need a good year it seems.

Happy New Year to all! Make it a safe New Year and all the best for 2016 to all! Keep on reading...to all my friends!
Happy New Year! I was actually awake this year. Quite surprised how many fireworks my neighbors were setting off last night. Anyone see that Dubai hotel on the news last night? I almost expected to see Steve McQueen.
I know, Kirsten. It reminded me of the movie. I'm just so glad a lot of people didn't die like they did in the "Towering Inferno". Only one person died of a heart attack.
@Gopal - love your post for New Year's . Best wishes for a good 2016 everyone.I did watch the CNN/Dubai coverage. Thank you Groovy for mentioning the name of that movie "Towering Inferno". I was thinking the same thing but couldn't remember the name of the movie - ugh, old age!!!
Natalie Cole is a loss. Beautiful voice.
Amber wrote: "Pat/Anne: Thanks, ladies. The actor who played Trapper John on MASH also died over the weekend."
Oh you're kidding. I remember him.
Sue, When Wayne Rogers left MASH, he became a good money marketing man. He was a regular contributor on Fox Business Channel. He was a very rounded and talented man.So was the beautiful Natalie Cole. I remember my parents listening to her father. He died young too, if my memory is correct.

Yes, Anne Natalie and her dad had special voices. Very sad. And I didn't know that about Wayne Rogers.
This story has been around on social media so may well have been seen by some of you.
A young woman had a 7ft pet snake and became increasingly worried that her snake had stopped eating. This went on for a few weeks so she decided to take it to the vet. The vet asked her if the snake had been laying next to her at night whilst asleep and she said it had. That she liked to cuddle up to it at night but couldn't understand why he had stopped eating and was really upset about it.
The vet turned round and told her that whilst laying next to her the snake was gauging her size and by not eating for a while, was preparing himself to eat her!!! So much for cuddly snake!
Moral of the story - I DON'T LIKE SNAKES!

I read that story too Janet, I'm not too keen on snakes either! Cats and dogs for me all the way, but each to their own. :)

According to Snopes.com, the snake story is false. Snakes don't measure their prey, and prey wouldn't let a snake get close enough to be measured. Makes for good anti-snake propaganda.
I agree with Brenda, it should be a hoax: not only snakes don't measure their prey, but sometimes a snake can ingest a too large prey and end by regurgitating it.
Besides, snakes cannot eat an adult human (unfortunately children have a different story), because its body structure is too rigid and difficult to swallow, it would destroy the stomach.
If there is an expert in this group, I would be very interested in a professional point of view.
I'm not a fan of snakes but they come from the very beginning of life on Earth – when I think about it, I feel an overawed respect for them.

I wouldn't want to test the theory, Brenda, but I take the point. Daughter number three always says she's not frightened of snakes. I nearly flipped a lid when a lady behind us on the road was poking around in bushes and saying she was looking for her son's snake. :-\
I've just done some reading about it. It's interesting. Would love a chat with Sir David Attenborough! :)
