Amber Martingale Most recent item on my playlist, aside from the metal guitar renditions of classic songs, Darth Vader's conduction of a Christmas flash mob and Run DMC's CHRISTMAS IN HOLLIS are the 2013 Celtic Woman performance and the two different videos for DRIVING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS.

This one, however, is among the oldest! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGAos...

Kirk Douglas

Born December 9th, so will be 99 years old in two days time !

Born 1916.

Same age as Olivia De Havilland, older sister of the late Joan Fontaine.

Olivia De Havilland is 99 years old.

Here is a page from my website of all actors over 85 years old.

http://www.thestarsphotos.com/#/alive...

Actors like Robert Wagner, Richard Anderson, Clint Walker, Sir Roger Moore, Sir Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman.

Amber good to see to new artists, pleased you like them.

message 7259: by Amber (new)

message 7262: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee I agree, Sean. Your collection is quite impressive. I can't believe these actors and actresses I grew up watching are not only so far along in age, but still alive--**eyes wide**

Jane Fonda is only 77, not quite up there with the others, but boy, I hope to look as good as her when I reach 77:)

message 7263: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Ah. Didn't like either of the videos for Chris. But I still have the Celtic Angels as you call them.

Heather Burnside (goodreadscomheather_burnside) | 385 comments Hi everyone. Dare I say the C word? I'm finally getting organised. I did all my wrapping at weekend and wrote my cards. I just want the preparation out of the way now. I'm a bit of a Scrooge because I don't enjoy the build-up to Christmas although I do enjoy Christmas itself especially as both the kids will be back for their Christmas holidays. :)

message 7265: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale My copy of the Celtic Woman vid got garbled, Sean, so I deleted it.

All this week, and also the whole weekend will be on here a little less.

Building up to our final major winter Christmas Market, four days, 12 hours a day, in our Royal Square.

Christmas chalets, twenty of them, where they open on the front, two doors out wide.

You sign contacts to agree to Christmas Decorate your chalets, stay for the full day.

Festive music, Christmas characters walking around, carol singers.

Over 400 stall holders requested a space on a chalet, only twenty got in, and we did.

Since Monday we have been dropping jewellery, Christmas Decorations, home made sprays(with pinflair inside, or chocolates, and also candles with pictures of Jersey on them)

Also Tuesday laying everything out, tonight all decorations and displays all done, shelving up.

Tomorrow the longest day, especially for my wife, 7.00 tomorrow morning till 10.00 pm.

I am working from 7.30 to 4.00, then joining my wife till 10.00.

Friday Tracey, my wife and I are both off work and in the chalet and also Saturday and Sunday.

Long, cold days and evening. Monday that is it for this year.

So tired now after three busy days at work, then working in the chalet till 8.00 each evening, then home for dinner and rest.

We have to do well at the Chalets are very expensive to get !!

At work at the moment, walked 3-4 times to take my wife drinks, and toilet breaks.

As I walk between out 3 buildings in Jersey.

Lunchtime, spent 1 hour help,as I do all the displays.

Have taken pictures, which will be added to the website later, will post a link.

Janet, I pick colour sets for my wife, and she makes every night, every weekend, 3-4 hours every evening after work.

I do the cleaning, hoovering, gardening, my wife does the cooking and ironing, we share the work !

Got my thermals ready for 4.00 pm

message 7274: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Didn't think the UK ever got cold enough for thermal underwear, Sean.

message 7275: by Groovy (new)

You're going to need them.

And, yes it most definitely snows in the UK. The further north you go the lower the average temp during the winter drops.

Hhmm. I don't find it that beautiful when I slip on black ice and land on my not so delicate derriere!! :-\ Then I loathe the white stuff.

But it looks lovely from the comfort of the sofa in the warm!! ;-)

message 7279: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (meldoc) | 634 comments Has the UK had snow yet this year? We are ridiculously warm in Canada where I live this year! Last year my car was literally buried in snow and kids spent half of December home from school due to road closures. Thus year my grass us still green (although going dormant) and despite an early snowstorm that noes through in October we are having mild fall weather. Hard to get into the Holiday Spirit when it feels like September. Lol

message 7280: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee We've had the same kind of weather here in US. Right now we're peaking at 71 degrees. But that's normal here in the south. A few years we have frigid winters, maybe a half inch of snow, followed by a warm one...

Odd weather makes me wonder what kind of winter we will end up facing. Last few years has been anyone's guess.

They'll pay for it. You'll have some arctic front move in and kill 'em off.

Of course, last year that's what I said about our apricot tree which bloomed in Mid-February.

That's why I tell my friends "It's not the snow I hate, it's the damned ice."

David/Melanie: So much for the climate change deniers.

Kirsten: What happened to the tree?

Yes I wore my thermals, temperature around 8 c to 12 c, that's cold enough when out all day, 12- 14 hours.

Bad Thursday, Friday, great Saturday, okay Sunday.

Very tired, back to work today.

Will add a link, when I add to my wife's website.

Melanie (meldoc) | 634 comments Can I ask you all if any of you have a system for rating your reads? When I first started on Good Reads I have to admit I gave out way too many "5 stars reviews". Basically if I liked an author and had read a series I added them to my list and rated them 4 or 5 stars. Then if I truly hated something I rated it 1 or 2 stars. Now I am much more discerning, but still go a bit with my "gut". I have been putting much more thought into my star ratings for months now, but just wondered if there was a "golden standard". Thanks.
OH...and yes..I do know I give things like this WAY too much thought. :)

Glad to hear your apricot tree made it and I agree that having apricots a month earlier than normal is weird.

Sean: Glad to hear you seem to be doing better.

I tried to donate blood today but my hemoglobin wasn't high enough. :( One day deferral.

Melanie: I don't have a personal system. I either finish it or I don't. If I don't finish it, I either reread it at a later date or I don't.
