That's given me an amusing mental image. It made me think of Scooby Doo and Shaggy. I don't know if you used to get that on TV in the US. It was a kids' cartoon. When the dog got frightened he used to dive on the guy called Shaggy and cling to him. :)

Aymen Ben cheikh I hope hope everything is okay where you are Christine

message 6204: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Thanks, Lynn and Aymen. The smoke has cleared out. Fires spread to another state now--Idaho.

Amber Martingale Better than those who are enduring wildfires that are out of control.

Groovy Lee My summer is very busy, and I love it. My daughter is about to go on vacation today, and girls are gonna to have fun for a week.

But I do hope California starts getting rain. It seems to rain all around that state. It's like its been cursed or something.

Oh, and it looks as if I have to give in to "the man" and get cable/satellite if I want to see tennis by this time next year. I'm missing Wimbledon thanks to CBS selling it to ESPN (idiots)

Annnnd, I'm excited about my new book coming out. I really love to write. It's like a high.

I'm ignoring my family drama (bunch of morons)

Well, that's how my summer is going, how is everyone else's?

message 6207: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Thanks, Aaron:)

Patricia | 1266 comments Christine wrote: "Thanks, Lynn and Aymen. The smoke has cleared out. Fires spread to another state now--Idaho."

Smoke has cleared out of my part of SD. The west side of the state and central area is still hazy but in the east, we are doing better. I was able to go outside (yay!) and worked in the garden for 30 minutes. Cripes! I hate this.

message 6209: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Pat, I must have missed it in the news. I thought the fire was in California, but was it human fault?

Patricia | 1266 comments Groovy wrote: "Pat, I must have missed it in the news. I thought the fire was in California, but was it human fault?"

I don't know the reason behind the wildfires but the smoke we are getting is from Canada around Saskatchewan. We have winds out of the north and it blows right down onto us.

message 6211: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments I've got asthma so my lungs do not care for the smoke, but today is better.

First I've heard of these fires - I've been living in a bubble. What's going on? Are you all safe?

Patricia | 1266 comments Janet wrote: "First I've heard of these fires - I've been living in a bubble. What's going on? Are you all safe?"

Yes we are safe. Our smoke is from Canada (hey, Toronto Sue, get those hot shots working!). The wind blows from the north and west sending it down into the central plains where I am at along with Chris and Jean. Very hazy and you can smell the burning. Also heard today that wildfires are burning a large portion of Alaska as well. Bad year!

Do they start just by themselves?

message 6215: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall thankfully my family in BC haven't been affected so far and we have spoken to them and are all ok.

gym tonight was tough but got there. nearly finished my book. just got the neck to do and then sew up the jumper for mum and the all blacks game to watch that I recorded :) happy hump day

message 6216: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments Janet wrote: "Do they start just by themselves?"

I don't know the cause. Usually man-made or storms (lightening strikes). The weather is dry and it makes for a perfect storm.

Fair enough - just stay safe and with your asthma Pat, look after yourself and stay out of it as much as possible until the smoke subsides. Easier said than done, I know!!

Thank you Janet for the well wishes. Yes, I have been indoors for about 1 week and getting a bit claustrophobic. Today is a good day and am planning to go out for supper. I'm chock full of meds so should be good.

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) | 5101 comments Keep safe from those fires everyone.
Here in central North Island, New Zealand it is -2C this morning - probably less than that if you take the wind chill factor into account. I don't think I have ever felt this cold! I don't know how you people live where it REALLY gets cold. 8:D

message 6222: by Patricia (new)

Patricia | 1266 comments Sandy - the cold builds character! even though I don't need any more!!

message 6223: by Groovy (new)

It's 5 am, three hours sleep and loud birdsong has woken me up!!!

I'm going to my parents' house for a long weekend to get some rest, hopefully!! Just myself and my eldest. So my presence here may be a little hit and miss. I'm sure I'll check in front time to time.... but you guys, have yourselves a great weekend.

Sorry to hear that about the farmers.

message 6247: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall the owl had the right idea if it was sleeping amber - I woke up at 620 this morning so took the dog for a run down the beach then decided to go and do crossfit which was a tough leg session!! had shopping to do and have this afternoon started the neck on mums jumper.

tomorrow I have a PT session at the box and then I have no plans - maybe get crazy and iron some shirts for work (but probably not)

dogs not speaking to me :( he is zonked in corner - don't know what he was moaning about I only did just over 2 miles this morning

hope you all are having a good weekend

What a day, as usual for Saturday, jewellery stall , so up at 5.00 a.m, setting up from 6.45.

But we only stayed today till 2.00, left early so I could come back home to watch tennis.

Ladies Singles Final

then

Mens doubles Final

and now and still on (roof closing now)The Ladies Doubles Final( Hingis in the Final 17 years after her first Wimbledon Final)

at 1 sets all and 5-5 games all.

The number one ladies team against the numbers 2.

What a battle...

Then bed to read

message 6249: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Are you suffering a drought where you live, Aaron? I live in Tennessee and we've been getting nothing but rain. And with the temperature heat index in triple digits, the humidity is suffocating.

How's everyone's Sunday been so far?

I've been down the vet with my kitty this afternoon .. He got grass seed in his eye!! Ouch! The vet had a job getting them out... He wasn't happy hissing and swiping at her!! Think it was hurting him...

Got some eye drops now to give him.. Wish me luck ! Lol
