Jean | 2387 comments Ouch, indeed! He's just a youngster, right? Yeah, good luck with the eye drops! Our Holly (estimated to be 14 or so) is a chronic "snuffler" so I use pediatric nasal spray twice a day for her. She doesn't like it, but she tolerates it.

message 6252: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes Jean, he is 15months! We adopted him from a rescue centre... So well behaved and a really lovely boy. His owners gave him up and he had been brought up in a home with lots of dogs..(we have a very friendly, placid dog) so they contacted us and asked us if we'd take him on trial..

It took him about a day to settle in!

Now he is the boss!
And we all love him to bits!

message 6253: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Always scary going to the kitty ER. We are kind of frequent flyers. They gave us some free medicine once for that reason. What is your boy's name and what's he look like Kim? I hope he gets better soon. Our guys are all rescue too.

message 6254: by [deleted user] (new)

Chris, his name is Diesel. I've just put a few pictures up on my profile if you want to see.

Our dog is also rescue. I love rescuing.

Just had my hand sliced trying to put some drops in! Thankless task... :(

Any tips from experienced cat owners?

message 6256: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Kimberley, the secret is SPEED. No coddling. Just do it. FAST!

How about a water pistol?

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Oh David, you are such a guy!!!

:~) Our dog is so placid, I think we could insert contact lenses, never mind drops.

Cats are a different kettle of fish.

LOL, David!! I would love see you try that!

message 6263: by E. (new)

E. | 653 comments And like Christine said, speed. Sometimes the "getting ready to do it" ritual tips them off.

message 6264: by [deleted user] (new)

We are trying the towel!

message 6265: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Chris! I will try!

message 6266: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol E! I know exactly what you mean!!

message 6267: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments You have a real shot what with another person there, Kim. And don't let him see the bottle when you approach. And have the lid already off. Part of the SPEED.

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments Geez, I just think "vet" and my cats dive under the bed. How do they do that?

Hard work and difficult Kimberley, can add to food when normally, but not in this case.

I'm afraid a few scratches!

message 6270: by Christine (last edited Jul 12, 2015 10:28AM) (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments That can be rough, Stephanie, depending on the kitty. I did fluids for 4 years on my old granny kitty Little Red, then twice daily on my Topsy for almost 2 years. They were pretty cooperative, thankfully.

message 6271: by [deleted user] (new)

We've done it guys..

My partner put a coat and gloves on lol!
He held him and I really quickly squirted the eye drops in!

Thank goodness we only have to do this for a few days .. He really hates it!

message 6272: by Christine (new)

Christine (clt04) | 4838 comments That's so great, Stephanie. It can be so hard as they don't understand why we are doing those ghings to ghem. I think my girls just decided to trust me that it must be a good thing.

Way to go, Kim!!! You can do it!

message 6282: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee As I was watching Wimbledon, between breaks they would show the giant wheel called the "Eye", I think. The people inside were standing and walking around. The cars look the size of bedrooms. I would love to ride it. Has anyone here ever been on it? Is it scary or fun? How long does it take to make a complete circle?

message 6283: by Jean (new)

I used to wrap my cat's up in a towel, like you would swaddle a baby. Make sure the cats feet are all inside the swaddling. Like Christine says, speed is key too.

Clipping nails went a lot easier using this system also. Just pull out the paw needed, clip, then return the paw inside the towel and pull out the next one. There is a learning curve but it helped me.

It should take about 30 minutes for one revolution, and the view from the top is amazing. I say should, because when we reached the top, there sounded a loud bang, like a gun-shot. We were shocked to see a massive crack in the curved glass, and I pressed the intercom to inform the staff. They had us back down within 5 minutes, by speeding it up. Those in our car were compensated, but I don't believe everyone else was.

I would go on it again though :~)

message 6295: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee Oh my goodness, wow, David. I bet you guys were scared to death. But I also bet the ride up and down was exciting:)

Oh Dear....nasty.

I am not keen on heights, but I have been on the London Eye twice, he moves so slow you hardly notice, and lovely views.

Once day time, once evening.
