Don't know who Bryan Fischer is but he tweeted this earlier

June 26, 2015: the day the twin towers of truth and righteousness were blown up by moral jihadists.

Patricia | 1266 comments Congratulations to all my friends and family in the LGBT community for finally receiving equal marriage rights today.

Also, Charleston has presented themselves in a remarkable manner to the recent tragedy. I don't know if I could be as forgiving as the families have been. God bless.

Groovy Lee I saw a contestant on The Wheel of Fortune today who's a "tough muddy". Pat joked that she should let the mud dry before tackling the course--LOL!

I thought about Sharon then.

LOL I was surprised that there wasn't more mud on our course to be honest - there were more high walls than muddy bits :)

Suffice it to say I am celebrating a week later by making a cake

message 6065: by Amber (last edited Jun 27, 2015 09:21AM) (new)

Amber Martingale Actually, Jean, the correct culinary term is "Mississippi Mud PIE" even though like a Boston Cream Pie it's a cake. Don't ask where the terminology came from because I don't know.

The beer colors diagram cracked me up: http://quantrel.com/9673715

message 6066: by [deleted user] (new)

message 6067: by Dana (new)

Dana ****Reads Alot**** | 78 comments There is no correct term. Paula Dean says so. lol. I shouldnt of been looking at cakes. Now Im hungry.

message 6069: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Because incorrect word choice (and improper grammar) affects me the same way the sound of nails on blackboard affects almost everyone else, Kim.

Dana: Good point about NOT looking at cakes when you're ALREADY hungry.

Christine: Not as well as she could have had she merely apologized, IMO.

message 6081: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mccall hello all hope you are having a good sunday :)

well back at the gym today did some progressive sled pulls starting at 40kg and upping by 5kg each set until I had 55kg on sled. splitting the sets with 30 Belgian squats. what a fun way to spend the morning. but it felt good to be back at it.

Looking forward to Wimbledon starting tomorrow just a pity I have to work LOL

Yes looking forward to second week's holiday, hot weather, no work, playing tennis.

And also watching the Island Games, just come back from watching the two ladies that I play singles with and doubles, and mixed doubles with playing in the Island games, which started today.

They won the doubles, lost one singles and won singles in the team a event (doubles and singles best of five matches)

Our men I watched are number 1 and 2 seeds both won easy.

Ready for Wimbledon, I do pick Murray to win, but a tough draw, with Nadal, Federer and Murray and Ferrer all in the same half.

Heather Burnside (goodreadscomheather_burnside) | 385 comments I'm looking forward to Wimbledon this week. I don't follow the tennis as keenly as Sean but I like to tune in when Wimbledon is on. It looks like I'll be disrupting my writing time a bit and fighting my daughter for the TV lol.
It's really sad to hear about the massacre of the holidaymakers in Tunisia. My heart goes out to them and their families - such a shame. :(

message 6084: by Jean (new)

Jean | 2387 comments Yes, Heather, too much violence in the world!
I used to be a big tennis fan - back in the day of Chris Evert, Martina, Stefi Graf, even Nastase, McEnroe, and Connors - there were some bad boys on the men's side (I guess Connors wasn't a bad boy, was he?). Now I hardly recognize the names since I don't follow much tennis. Serena, of course...

You're right Jean, there is far too much violence in the world.
I first got into tennis back in the days of some of the players you mention. I can remember watching the Evert v Navratilova and McEnroe v Borg matches with my mother. I always loved McEnroe even though he was a bad boy because I found his style of play much more exciting than Borg. I'm not as familiar with the players nowadays although I know the big names. Serena is a remarkable player, especially after all the health problems she has suffered with in the past. :)

Loooved McEnroe. I enjoyed th days of Becker, Agassi, Graf Sampras, Lendl etc. I used to watch Wimbledon every year especially the big matches. Doesn't really hold the same interest for me anymore. But I still dip in. Wimbledon is the only tournament I watch.

message 6087: by Heather (new)

Heather Burnside (goodreadscomheather_burnside) | 385 comments McEnroe was an amazing player and I like him as a commentator too. I love the fact that he can see the funny side when other commentators tease him about the tantrums he used to have. The days of Becker, Agassi, Graf etc. was probably around the time that I stopped watching tennis because the children were toddlers but I'm starting to get back into it again.

Ever heard of "playing the Devil's Advocate"?

Michael: Thanks. I thought someone would like it.

Titas: Jesu Christo, Titas! I'd have shorted out my keyboard from spewing my water because I was laughing too damned hard to swallow it, if the library didn't ban food and drink!

Janet/Sean/Christine: LOL.

Sharon: Sorry to hear that all you did was bake the cake. I love cake.

I apologize to anybody I missed but I only get 3 hrs. online Monday-Saturday at my public library since I can't afford home Internet access and I'd spend my entire time on this one post if I replied to everyone in single post.

I watched the finals since he early 70's.

I remember Stan Smith winning in 1972.

Connors winning in 1974.

message 6094: by Groovy (last edited Jun 29, 2015 02:31PM) (new)

Groovy Lee I was a young teenager, but I remember McEnroe and Connors. And I didn't like either of them because they were mean. There's "bad boy" and there's "mean". And I don't like people with tempers.

My old favorite was Martina Hingis (I think I spelled it correctly) I think she played in the nineties??? I really miss her. And the Spanish player Arancha Sanchez??, I forget. The nineties were good. But today's players are good, too. A lot of Russians.

Come on over to Sean's Wimbledon thread for those watching this year, it's fun.

message 6095: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) What's fun is McEnroe today. He has totally owned that temper. He stars in ads making fun of it. I think he's grown up.

Speaking of that time... I saw recent picture of Chris Evert and she looks good!

message 6096: by Groovy (new)

Groovy Lee I agree, Kirsten. He has matured--a lot! Too bad his first wife didn't get to experience his new side:) And I admit, I do like him narrating today. He's a lot nicer.

message 6097: by Sean, Moderator (new)

Sean Peters | 10541 comments Mod
Martina Hingis is playing still, is ranked number 1 or 2 in the doubles with her partner Sania Mirza.

Hingis also coaches Belinda Bencic.

Jimmy Connors was one of my favourites for his great fighting powers.

Loved Monica Seles and Steffi Graf, met both had pictures with both, both lovely.

McEnroe is horrible in real life, rude and arrogant, and usually pushed kids away if they asked for a autograph, in fact very aggressive but is a good commentator.

I like as a commentator Peter Fleming, Mark Petchey.

Sanches Vicario had her dad take a picture of her with me, was lovely.

message 6098: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Learned more about tennis in the last couple days than I have ever had a DESIRE to learn.

message 6099: by Groovy (last edited Jun 30, 2015 12:07PM) (new)

Groovy Lee I miss seeing Martina play as a single, though. She was good. And you're so right about McEnroe, not a nice person at all, but a very good commentator. Like I said, I feel sorry for his first wife, Tatum, who had to deal with that, but all people saw was her drug habits.

Thanks for correcting me, Sean. How did I get that other name? But, I love Sanches, and miss seeing her play. You took a picture with all the players it seems. How in the world did they let you get that close to them:)
