Thank you everyone for the welcome messages. Cassandra wrote: "Renée, are there any new releases in particular that you're looking forward to? "
At the moment there are 3 books that I have my eyes on: The Thorn of Emberlain, Pretending to Be Erica and In a World Just Right 2 of them because their synopses sound great, the 3rd one is from the book series I'm kind of in love with, so that's a given. :)
Hello all! My name is Kristin and I'm a 29 year old female from Kentucky, U.S.A. I can't recall a time when I haven't been completely in love with the written word. Fantasy has always been my genre of choice but I'm open to reading anything. I'm very excited to be joining a challenge group (my first!) as I'm hoping it will motivate me to read more in 2015. Happy Holidays!
Hi, I am Nazrin.I love to read.I just started reading and would love to hear all your book recomendations.:)
Hi! I'm Angela, and I have always loved to read. Mainly, I read fiction and I'm always on the lookout for the that next book that will knock my socks off!
Thanks, Star! I look forward in participating in some challenges, discussing books, and getting ideas on what to read next! Glad to have come across this group :-D
Hi, I'm Kate. I am always looking for new books to take me away to different worlds! My life is pretty crazy, but I always find time for reading :)
Hello all! My name is Stephanie. I love reading, knitting, and all of my various fandoms. I have never really done a reading challenge and am looking forward to this new adventure.
Hello! I am Kait. I have two young children and don't get as much time as I would like to dedicate to reading, but I wanted to join in the hopes that this will motivate me to squeeze in a bit more reading time :)
Thanks Star! Also, if anyone glances at my profile and you find that we enjoy reading the same things, feel free to add me as a friend. I love seeing what others are reading in my feed. :)
Hello, my name is Laura. I have been unable to read as I have always enjoyed throughout the past 4 years. I am excited to be able to read avidly again and look forward to this challenge concept.
I hesitate to sign up for challenges because I want to stay flexible with what I'm reading next... but these challenges are too interesting. These are the kind of games I like to play with my reading list.I read quite slow, approximately 2-4 books per month so I don't have a lot of leeway to jump on a suggested reading list. It will just be fun to see how the books I read fit into various challenges.
As a year round bike commuter, audio books are unfortunately not very convenient. I hate earphones and wires hanging all over, besides the fact that it is good to be able to hear my surroundings. If only I would devise a workable audiobook solution, I could double (at least) my literary consumption each year.
Happy to find this group before the new year. I like the variety.
Hi all, My Name is Libby and I am 52 and have been an avid reader since childhood when I would lose myself in Nancy Drew and Encyclopedia Brown and whatever else I could carry away from the library. I like Fiction and Biographies mainly. Some of my Favorite Authors are Jan Karon, Teri Blackstock, Harry Kraus, Randy Singer,Gina Holmes ,Erin Healy, Ted Dekker, Francine Rivers- ok somebody stop me! I belong to Scribd and mainly read ( and listen) from their huge collection. I'm looking forward to trying a couple of the reading challenges finding new authors and seeing what others are reading. And talking about books we've read.
Joe wrote: "I hesitate to sign up for challenges because I want to stay flexible with what I'm reading next... but these challenges are too interesting. Hi, everyone! I'm Erin. I'm 20, and an avid reader/writer from Massachusetts! I read just about everything, and I'm trying out genres I've only gotten a little bit of a taste of. Despite my love of reading, I admit I haven't been reading enough, and I hope being on GR can help me change that.
Hello Everyone. Iam a wife and mother and I and I work full time. I love to read. I am a member of a fabulous bookclub. I believe there is always something to read...
Joe wrote: "I read quite slow, approximately 2-4 books per month so I don't have a lot of leeway to jump on a suggested reading list. I also tend to read many books that haven't even been translated to that many languages.
I am still trying to find the perfect challenge that would suit my reading habits but I do have a couple in another group (a classics bingo and 12+2 challenge where we pick books to read before January) and one here.
Welcome Libby. I am new too. I haven't read any of the authors that you mentioned, but you have me intrigued so I will try some of them when I get a chance. Any particular favorite you have?
Hi. My name is Cary. I've always been a fairly avid reader and have a number of favorite authors. I am older (now 52) and my goal is to read 1 book for each year (so 52 in 2014). However, with 2 young kids (1 and 3), 2 young adult children, and a demanding job, hard to keep on track (still 5 books left this year with only 2 weeks remaining). Always interested in finding new books, authors, etc, so the group would be a good way to branch around a little. Some of the best writers in my mind are Thomas Pynchon, Haruki Murakami Neal Stephenson, Paul Auster, Richard Powers, Margaret Atwood, etc. Like to throw in some sci-fi/apocalyptic, thought provoking books and 'hard books' (e.g. William Gaddis).
Not sure if I had the chance to say hi. well Hi I'm Mikaela I love YA novels and magical lands.
Maria wrote: "Welcome Libby. I am new too. I haven't read any of the authors that you mentioned, but you have me intrigued so I will try some of them when I get a chance. Any particular favorite you have?"Hi Maria. Wings of Glass by Gina Holmes was wonderful .
[One Thousand Gifts:A dare to live fully right where you are] by Ann Voskamp is beautiful. So many! 8)
Hi ! my name is zeinab am college student , I have wasted 2014 so am hoping that 2015 will be full of achievements so I will participate in 2015 challenge
Welcome to the group, everyone! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions, and jump into whatever activities sound interesting to you.
Hey all, I'm Beth! I just joined the group yesterday and am already SO eager for the new year to begin. I've been wanting to do some sort of reading challenge for a while now, and this group seems awesome already!Let's see... I love reading pretty much anything (except non-fiction/academic essays, those just aren't my thing). I've been really into YA dystopians lately, just finished reading The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness about five minutes ago actually, so I can't wait to see what others are reading and find new books to add to my "To be Read" list!
I'm married; no children. The husband and I have something like 700 books on our bookshelves (all two of them; they're double-rows and have books stacked where there's room to fit). I hope the year is good for all of you! Can't wait to start talking books with you guys!
Hello everyone! I'm Rand , a 16 year old girl from the middle east. 2014 was the year I started reading, though I've wasted half of it I think it was a good year. (For me, at least). I love reading all kind of books and I'm still trying to find what my favourite genre is. I hope I can read 50 books in 2015 and thats why I'm looking for different challenges to participate in, this group will hopefully help me reach my goal . I only have one problem though , my English isn't very good. When I'm reading a book I need to translate a lot of words, it could be slowing sometimes so I'll need to work on that. I'm really excited for this year!
Hi all,I'm Sheu, from Malaysia. I've been a member of Goodreads for a long time now but this is my first time joining a group. I love reading so much that I have to read at least a chapter before bedtime or I won't be able to sleep well. Imagine that :D
My favourite books are 'The Kite Runner' and 'A Thousand Splendid Suns' by Khaled Hosseini, 'Middlesex' by Jeffrey Eugenides, and 'The Shadow of the Wind', 'The Angel's Game', and 'The Prisoner of Heaven' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
Hi! I'm Lisa Alexa and I just joined to become more active in reading and set higher goals along with an introduction to books to read that I otherwise would not have. Happy New Year Everyone! Hope we all have fun this year reading and discover great reads!
Another Beth here! I did this a little backward because I signed up for a few challenges first. I find reading challenges just as fun as reading, maybe more! In December I started using a spreadsheet for the books I needed to finish for various challenges by the end of the year, and I've liked it so much I've started adding my 2015 books to it as well.I live in the Seattle area, have two dogs and three cats, and spent several years not reading at all so am making up for it now.
Hello everyone! I am Helen, from Nottingham in England. I love reading a variety of genres. I have currently put down "Game of Thrones" for a week to complete 2 light 'Christmassy' reads and also picked up Under Milk Wood today (as I am on holiday in Wales!)My personal challenges for 2015 are to make time to read every day (a busy job has put heed to this recently), pick up some graphic novels (already added some to my TBR list) and to write a children's story.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to those who celebrate it and SEASONS GREETINGS to all. x
Hello, I'm Stacey. I love to read. A habit I couldn't always afford. I'm one of those weird people who usually has a hard time staying in one place to long. So libraries were out for me. Kindle and nook apps opened a whole new world for me. I used to be a fussy reader and only stick certain authors. Now I will read almost anything. I used to read really slow. There was a time when I would be lucky to read a book a year (dyslexia bites) but I have figured out how to work though most of it. Most of what I read are free downloads. recently I looked at my digital library and was amazed to see how many books I have read in the past few years. By doing the challenge I will be able to see how many I read this year.
Hello, I'm Lenka, slightly above 30 years of age, mostly interested in detective stories and science fiction, but I don't mind other genres at all :)
Hello, I'm Sheila. I have always loved reading. As a kid, I could spend the weekend curled up on the couch. While I like science fiction and mystery, lately (last 10 years or so) I have been reading more urban fantasy and police procedural books. I also like YA books that fall into these genres. I am not inclined to read books that lend themselves to becoming chick flicks (apologies if I offended anyone).
It is so amazing that we have so many new members! Welcome to you all! This group is all about the love of reading, so whether your personal challenge is 3 books or 300, whether you join every challenge or just one for the year, we will encourage you and love having you participate!
Hi, I'm Sally. I used to read everything I could get my hands on as a kid but started to read less and less as I got older - a couple of years ago I started setting myself a target of 50 books a year and miserably failing so this year I halved that and I've managed to read more! I'm hoping to make use of my goodreads account, and continue to read more. I think I'm going to try and aim for 50 books in 2015 and to try a few challenges as well. My favourite genres are historical fiction, crime (I grew up on Agatha Christie) and fantasy.
I look forward to hearing what you think of it. Maria wrote: "I will read Wings of Glass sometime in January. Can't wait!"

Hi, I am Krista from Cincinnati, Ohio. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to read and I am looking for challenges to take me out of the box. I read almost anything, but do find myself going for the same authors or subjects over and over. I would love a recommendation for a challenge that might help take me out of myself...and go....
Hello everyone. I'm Jennifer and I have always loved reading but in the last 6 months I have really picked up the pace. I am always looking for people to talk with about books I'm reading. I look forward to all the new things we will read together!
Jennifer wrote: "Hello everyone. I'm Jennifer and I have always loved reading but in the last 6 months I have really picked up the pace. We have lots of wonderful challenges to help you whittle away at your TBR. We look forward to talking with you about books.
Hi everyone. I'm Jenn and I love mysteries, YA and some supernatural books (Charlaine Harris, Victoria Laurie.) I'm married to an avid reader, my best friend is a reader, most of my other friends are, so I'm surrounded by readers! Is there any better place to be? I really like doing challenges so I'm excited about this group.
Hi- my name is Heather and I'll be joining this group for the first time starting in 2015. I normally like all kinds of books, especially fantasy, but I've been in a reading rut and just can't seem to find anything that I've really enjoyed this past year- it has made me not want to read... I'm really hoping this helps because I normally love to read...

I am planning to finish it this year, I have been reading it slowly since summer. As a kid I never had a problem with long books, I will always remember reading Gone with the Wind over one weekend when I was 12.
