Hi I'm Shirley, I have a 16 yr old son, I'm a teaching assistant in a Primary School, love reading, my favourite authors are Carole Matthews , Jane Green, Mandasue Heller, and lots more, since buying a kindle it's nice to read books I would never have read before and from authors that I have never heard of.

I'm Kathryn. My day job involves extensive reading of primary legal materials, so my pleasure reading tends to be plot- and character-driven novels that don't require a lot of deep thought. I primarily read historical fiction, mysteries, and, my favorite, historical mysteries.
I'm not exactly new here. I joined back in December, but so far I've only been using the site to track what I'm reading. I've decided it's time to get in on the social side of things though. Hello, everyone! I'm Mary. I'm a wellness coach, artist, aspiring writer, and avid reader. I like sci-fi and fantasy books best (my favorite is Jurassic Park, but I also like non-fiction, thrillers, anything by William Shakespeare, ghost stories, and silly books with happy endings.
Welcome, Kathryn and Mary! Glad that you've found us - this is a great group to get social with. Lots of fun things to do, I've found that it really boosts my motivation for reading.

It is called Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship. I really enjoyed it and would like to read it again. If you decide you want to read it give me a shout.
Hey guys! I thought I would re-introduce myself for any new members I don't know. My name is Brian, and I hail from New York. I have spent a lot of time with the 2014 Reading Challenge in the past and am finally back to participate with the group after a *really* long hiatus. The past six months have been so stressful and busy for me that I've had almost no time or energy to read (not to mention I've been without a reliable computer since I left and just checking my email was all I'd have time for so I took a break from the site).Peak at work and family stuff are finally dying down, so I can't wait to have time to get my hands on some books and start joining everyone's discussions again.
I have missed you all quite a bit and was thinking of the group often! See everybody around on the forums. Looking forward to it. Peace!
Xoxo Brian
Ian wrote: "welcome back Brian x"Thanks Ian! Good to be back and glad to see you here still. Would love to catch up some time soon - it's been a couple months now hasn't it? This year..2014...it's been FLYING! I can't even believe it.
xx
Brian! Welcome back. I'm glad to hear that things are settling down for you, and I hope that work has been going well! Last time we talked you were just starting the new job. I look forward to seeing you around the group again!
Thank you so much Cassandra!! Yup, I remember talking to you about that and cannot BELIEVE how long ago that was now! my gosh it feels like only yesterday we were starting the new year and now it's already about to be September!Look forward to being back and seeing you around too :] thanks a lot for the welcome and hope school and everything is going great for you!
Heyy :) My name is Lisa and I am 18 years old. I love reading books but I haven't been reading as often as I used to so when I saw this challenge (although I only have 4 months left to complete it) I thought it would be a good idea for me to join and see if I can get back into reading more :) As I have started late I've set my challenge to 20 books (I have added 4 so far - 2 that I have read recently and 2 I remember reading earlier in the year. I think I have read a few more but I can't remember what they were so I can't include them...)
I don't really read 'adult' fiction so I will (probably) only be reading YA fiction for example, Divergent, The Maze Runner, Tall a Thin and Blonde and The Fault in Our Stars :)
Hi Lisa! We're glad to have you, even though we're midway through the year. I joined in November of last year, and I still had plenty of fun completing December monthly challenges and getting my reading goals all set up for next year! If you are interested in any ongoing challenges, you can include books that you read during the time period of the challenge, even if it was before you joined the group. If you have any questions about how that works or anything else, feel free to ask!Welcome Leslie! I've found several awesome books through this group that I never would have read otherwise, and I hope that the same will be true for you as well!
Hello! My name's Christina, I'm 20 and I live in NY. I joined in hopes of getting a motivation to read.
Welcome Christina and AJ!AJ, we have people with all levels of reading goals. Does your 20 book goal include books since the beginning of the year, or more recently than that?
Hi, my name is Nicole. I love reading as well, but due to having many hobbies it's not always at the top of my list. However, this year it seems every book I pick up is either interesting, fast paced or deep so it's been on book after another which is why I already surprised my personal challenge and need to come up with a new one. :)
Hello, I am Morgan I recently joined Goodreads. I used to read all the time but while I was going to school I found it hard to keep it up (other than school books). This year I decided to join the challenge to get back into reading. I like chick lit and romance books but I am tying to spread my wings and get more into non-fiction and other genres.
Hi all! I'm JD. I just joined Goodreads today and I'm really excited about joining this awesome community! This is really my first foray into social media and I think this will be a good fit. I haven't been reading as much as I'd love to so I was glad to join the challenge. As I say in my profile "Life sometimes gets in the way of Life" so I'm really going to make sure that I make time for this passion of mine (of ours!). I set my challenge a little on the low side side since the year is almost over and I'm not counting anything that I've read recently. I look forward to meeting many of you and to discuss some of what we're reading. Right now I'm reading quite a bit of fantasy, but maybe next year I'll aim to incorporate some non-fiction as well. Cheers!
Hi everyone! I'm Lydia. I read fiction and some non-fiction. I'm behind on my reading goal for 2014, so I'm looking for some challenges and motivation to help me catch up.
Hi! Just joined :) always on the look out for books that are out of my comfort zone and I absolutely love the concept of your challenge! Hope I can keep up
Hi Newbies from the last few weeks. I hope you feel encouraged to read with our group. I've been a member for a few years now. I don't read lots of books in a year but I love tracking them and trying to make what I want to read fit into a challenge. I've added lots of new books to my TBR list also.Welcome.
Hi, I'm Marisa. I'm 19. New to this site. I love reading memoirs, romances, science fiction and just about anything that sounds interesting. Let me know if you have any recommendations for me.
I'm new in this group. I used to read a lot as a kid but gradually read less and less.. I renewed my passion in reading this year and decided to challenge myself to reading 50 books this year. I thought that was too ambitious but I did it! I love making lists of books to read and found Goodreads. Reading is fun but sometimes I really hope I have someone to discuss what I read with me, that's why I try to find a group to join and joined this one! :>
I was with this group previously, but I took a break from Goodreads and reading in general (other stuff getting in the way at times). But I really missed it, so I'm back.
For those that didn't know me from before, I'm Elizabeth from Pennsylvania. I'm an avid Thoroughbred Racing fan. I enjoy reading Christian Fiction, Cozy Mysteries, Biographies/Memoirs and some other Nonfiction, and of course, Horse Racing Books!
Glad to be back.

Hi everyone! My name is María, and I am from Spain :)So I am new here on GoodReads, and I think discovering this community is one of the best thing I have ever done.
I used to read since I was 12 years old (now I am 19), but the past two years I stopped reading too much, because I literaly didn't have lot of time (University sucks). But I have missed it a looot, so I am here to keep doing what I love: read tons of books.
I am really excited about being a member of this group, doing a lot of different challenges and tracking every single book that I read!
Hi I'm Amanda! I have always loved to read but during my university career I kind of stopped reading what I wanted to read and began reading the materials needed for my courses. Now that I'm done with my academic career I have re-focused my reading back to the books I love to read. I just started on Good Reads in August of this year, however I have read an ok amount of books this year - I wish I would have read more though. Next year I'm hoping to be able to read at least double the 20 books I set for my personal reading challenge this year.
I'm very much looking forward to taking on some new challenges next year, too!
:)
Hi, I'm Rhiana. I'm a new hobby reader. Never liked books growing up and recently discovered my new passion as I don't have a television. Not sure what genres I like yet. I'm excited about all the discoveries and reading challenges.
Hi I'm Peggy, I have been on Goodreads for a few years. My personal reading challenge for 2014 was 35 books but hopefully I'll be able to stretch that number in 2015. I love to read, I love the feeling of accomplishing a challenge, and I love love to ✓ things off on a list :) There are some very interesting/fun previous challenges from what I have read so far. Looking forward to participating for 2015!!
Hi there, I'm Amber. I love to read and I love challenges. I am looking forward to getting, and giving, a lot from this group!
Hi, Gwen! I'm with you there, I have a television but don't really use it :). Starting out with books must be so amazing, somehow I wish I could do that as well. Hi Peggy & Ambs - I hope you have a lot of fun with all the challenges :). I'm bad at finishing them, but I have fun with them too!
Hi everyone, I'm Neil and new to the group. I'm an enthusiastic reader and love to chat with others regarding what we've read. I'm hoping the group will push me to read more and branch out from my usual genres of reading (which at the moment seems to be mainly post-apocalyptic fiction)Hope to get to know some of you soon
Well, you certainly can't have enough post-apocalyptic fiction--at least, not in my book. Have you read After the End: Recent Apocalypses? I thought it was REALLY enjoyable and introduced me to new authors.
I haven't but I'll give it a go. I've just finished reading The Road so need something a little bit lighter first, The Road kinda made me forget what happiness was for a while haha.
Hi! I'm Susan. I've been on Goodreads for about three years (I think), but this is the first time I've joined a group. I read a lot of different genres, although I'm generally not too fond of fantasy and sci-fi. After reading through a lot of your 2014 challenges, I thought "this group looks like fun!"
Welcome, Susan! Looking forward to getting to know you!And yes, Neil. Haha, that's definitely not one I'll be rereading anytime soon. I thought it was masterfully written, but yes. Agreed.
Hello... I'm Mpur from Indonesia. I've just joined this group and I am sooooo happy to find this group. I love to read any kinds of genre (currently YA) ^^
Hi! I'm Melissa and I love to read sci-fi, romance, and fictional novels. I am a very fast reader and love to write my own books in the creative writing area on Goodreads. :)
Hello! I'm Alissa. I am currently pursuing my BA in English, so I get to read and call it homework. I will openly admit to being a book snob, haha. I love the classics, but I am trying to branch out a bit.
Hi, I'm Laurie. I have been a member of Goodreads for awhile now. I just started purposely making time for reading again.
Hi, I am Brie. I am 34 years young. I am re-kindling my love affair with reading after many years of watching television. lol I am excited to see if I can rise to meet the challenge.
