I'm Steph, from freakishly cold Utah, recently married with a cute puppy to keep me busy!! I love graphic novels, ya books, anything by Khalid Hoessini, Kurt Vonnegut, or SE Hinton (to name a few). I have a problem with buying books before I finish the ones I'm currently reading, especially having a B&N across the street from me. I'm excited to be part of this group!!

Blessings to all!My name is Vivian Amis. I love reading and writing non-fiction/self help books on spiritual development.
Excited to be here : )
I had to google how cold is "freakishly cold" in Utah... Hmm.. seems it would be a nice winter weather for me, at least the snow wouldn't melt away like it does now.
Hello, I'm Robin. I am from a small town (very small) in NE Oklahoma. I have two grown children, a son in law and a beautiful grandson. I work as a preoperative nurse. I have a German Shepherd dog that I walk daily, and I also try to run 4-5 days a week. During those times, I listen to books. I usually have one that I am reading and one that I listen too at the same time. My favorite types of books change. I like Young Adult books, like The Hunger Games. I love Harry Potter. I read a lot of James Patterson, Ernest Gaines, Diane Rowland (The White Trash Zombie Novels) I am willing to read almost anything. I am excited to belong to a reading group. I haven't really done this before!
Hello, im Gilliane :) 18 years old from philippines :) ya's and romance are my genres. I hope i can find new friends in here. Im a newbie by the way. Created my account last april but i updated it just last week, and im still kinda lost. So, thats all! :)
Hi, I'm Sandy. I love to read, but I only recently joined Goodreads. I found it because of the Ford Audiobook Club (so far Four free audiobooks from audible for anyone interested). I am also not very technical, so forgive any technical errors. I was looking for a non-fiction reading challenge and stumbled across this group. I get excited about the bingo card and created one even before I joined. I belong to a book club at my local library, but it is all fiction. I am excited to join this group and I look forward to 2015.
Hi everyone! I'm Pauline. Just joined now. I love historical fiction especially medieval and ancient times, some bestselling authors like Steve Berry and James Rollins (I hope to find more authors similar to them), romance and cookbooks.I didn't know about this group so I did the challenge alone last year.
Hope to have more fun discovering new books with all of you this year.
hi this is parvin. I m from India. although I took the 2014 reading challenge, I could not take part in the discussions. but looking forward to engage with fellow readers in the upcoming year. hoping to start with the new book soon n looking forward to interactions with people who enjoy reading.
Hello. I am Renee. Joined this group a couple of hours ago. I am looking forward to the challenges offered here. I was a member of GR a couple years ago but life got in the way and my reading significantly slowed so I deleted my account (yes, that was dumb...now all of my previous books either must be re-entered or not). Life has slown some and so I am back with a reading vengence. Can't wait to participate! Looking forward to what 2015 is going to bring.
Hi, I'm Kylie. I have a 10yo bookworm son and we both love settling down with a good book. My favourites are mysteries, historical fiction, fantasy, and non-fiction business and behavioural economics, but I read pretty widely. I've just joined the group and am planning to read at least 50 books in 2015.
Hello everyone! Greetings from Bucharest!I'm Monica. Architecture student with too less time for reading. Even so, i am trying my best. My 2015 reading challenge is 50 books. So, wish me luck.
All the best wishes for the new year.
Hi! I'm Poppy and I'm from England. I've always read far more than is probably healthy, so this year I thought that I would keep track of how many books and pages I read! My goal is currently to read 50 books in 2015, but I feel like I'm going to surpass that soon enough and raise it to about 100.I wish everyone an amazing 2015 x
hi,im becci, i love reading during my free time and finding new and old books that spark my imagination
Happy New Year everyone! I am Jenny. I love reading just about anything. Each year my favorite genre seems to change. Can't wait to "meet" more readers from this group!
Hi. My name is Kat. I have two children and am an avid reader. I'm eclectic in my reading tastes, liking everything from Dewey Decimal Class 000 through 900. Recommendations are always welcome. I'm looking forward to reading 150 books this year (including children's books) by working my way through many "Best of" reading lists. Hello fellow readers!--I hope I've posted in the right spot.
Hi all, Firstly, happy New year to you all. I'm still trying to figure out how to use good reads! I love reading, and spend all of my spare time reading! I would love to get to know you all and have some recommendations from you all!
Hi, I'm Hannah. I like a wide variety of genres from fluffy chick-lit to the classics. I love reading challenges, challenging books and setting myself goals, although I have less time to read lately as I have a 5 month old and I suppose I should get back to my full time job at some point. Sigh...
Happy New Year, y'all! I'm Karen from Texas. Thank you for letting me join your group. My goal this year is to put down the iPhone/Facebook and read more. I want to add in some more classics this time and pick back up on some mystery series that I've drifted away from such as MC Beaton's Hamish MacBeth and Agatha Raisin.
Hey all! I'm Suvi from the southwest coast of Finland, and I'm currently a university student majoring in English Translation. I've been a member of Goodreads since 2007, but haven't been very active in the groups. I'm also writing a book blog in Finnish where I participate in challenges, but now I figured I should try these English challenges as well.Happy New Year folks! :)
Hi everyone! I'm Katie and I'm from England. I've always enjoyed reading and stumbled across Goodreads a while ago but never made an account till now, I'm looking forward to trying to meet my goal of reading 50 books in 2015! I've never counted how much I've read before so this will be interesting :) Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!:)x
Hello! I'm Mindy and I live in Washington state. I got into Goodreads last January and met my reading goal and hope to again this year, with five additional books. I've been reading since age 3 and have yet to stop. I look forward to expanding my horizons again this year.
Hi im Janet, I like reading a good romance to relax and some people would say i spend too much time reading :-)
Hi, everyone. I'm Ruthann, a retired math/science teacher. I'm interested in this challenge because my daughter is! She roped me in. :)
Hello Everyone. I'm Rebecca from Massachusetts. This is my first time committing to a reading challenge and I'm excited. My goal is a modest 20 books, 1 fiction book per month and at least 8 nonfiction books in the year. I enjoy historical fiction a lot but am open to different genres. On the nonfiction side I'm doing a lot of soul searching lately and am enjoying things that help me with my journey into middle age.
Please feel free to say hello. Next to reading, my fave thing is making new friends.
Hi, I am Cécile and I am the mother of 2 young kids (daughter is 5 and son will be 3 in 2 months). I am french so please excuse me if my English is not always correct.... I read a lot, it's more than a hobby I am a book addict. I like romance, dystopian stories, urban fantasy, vampire stories, new adult and young adult and fantasy.
Hi everyone, My name is Fausto. I like reading (or listening) mostly history, sports and science related books. I read to keep a healthy load of knowledge intake balancing against other activities in my active life.
Hello, I'm K.C., I'm an artist who loves spending her time reading most genres. I've recently started taking more time out of my day to read, so I look forward to getting to where I can participate in come of the wonderful challenges here. :)
Hi,I'm Beky. Just joined, hoping to read 26 books this year (1 every fortnight) as I am also studying/working and finishing an honours thesis. Love reading - looking forward to getting some good suggestions.
Hi, I've been a member of GoodReads for a while ... have even participated in a couple of challenges. I decided to step up my game and include stuff other than my usual mysteries/fantasies. My current challenge is 75 books: one third from the Rory Gilmore list; one third from the BBC list; one third free style. I'll probably try to lower my "to read" pile and add a few non-fiction works to balance all those novels!
Hi, I've been a member of this group for a bit, and decided to become active with the New Year. This is my first official post on this site, I've been a member for a while now. My current challenge is 120 books. My previous challenge was 50 books, but I started seriously reading again halfway through the year.Too bad I can't count the original content and fanfiction I read online, I could double my challenge since I read far more of it than published content.
Hi I'm Elsa, I'm 25 and I just joined the group! I read almost about everything and I specially enjoy historic novels.
I'm Jun. my reading goal is 80-thought 100 was a little ambitious. I love young adult contemporary and fantasy, but I'm up for reading basically anything! I am currently reading the Scorch Trials by James Dashner!
Hi I'm Pam. I love reading young adult, romance, science fiction, history novels. This is my first year in Goodreads so let's see how this works. My challenge is 50 books, though I hope read more. I'm currently reading Where She Went by Gayle Forman and I'm loving it!!
Hi all. I'm Andrea, a retired teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, avid bridge player, enthusiastic cook and very involved member of our community. Last year I bought a Kindle, which has allowed me to read much more than ever. I'd love to challenge myself to 50 or 60 books, but I think 30 is much more realistic. I'm looking forward to this! The novel I just finished is "A Man Called Ove," and now I'm reading "The Invention of Wings."
Hey, I'm Megan. I like to give anything a shot. Love fantasy, romance, and sci-fi. I'm a stay at home mom, author, and have just started going back to college for social work. I'm hoping having a goal will kick me in the butt to read more and to post more reviews. I feel that I'm not very good at reviewing but I won't get better if I don't practice.
Hi I'm Christine. I love to read just about anything but I really enjoy fantasy and historical fiction. I've participated in the challenge in previous years but this is the first time I've participated in a group for it so I'm looking forward to some great discussions here.
Welcome everyone. It is great to see so many new members. Don't be shy. Please jump right in and join some challenges or buddy reads. Ask if you have any questions. We have a fantastic group.
Hi I'm Paul, I guess I'm what you call super new because I literally made this account this week! :) This is my first year doing something like this formally, I tried something similar last year but went about it the wrong way so I gave up on keeping tabs on it pretty early and I think I ended up reading way more books than I thought was even possible to read this year!I'm going for 90 books this year but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up reading more, and I'm also probably going to take a look at all the other challanges going around and see what's going on there. I seem to gravitate towards YA/fantasy/real-world literary fic but in practice there isn't really a whole lot that I won't consider.
This turned out really long didn't it, sorry about that I get nervous with new people and things more easily than I should and I don't always have a good sense of what's relevant or not. With all that out of the way I can't help thinking that I'm going to enjoy this :D
Welcome to the group, everyone! I hope you find that it helps motivate you to keep up with your goals and there are lots of fun activities to keep things interesting. Please jump right in and if you have any questions, let us know!
Hi everyone, my name is Adriana and I'm so glad to be a part of this group for the new year! I love to read almost everything and I adore to talk about books with people. I am always looking forward to new books and new friends :)!
Hi there. Im fairly new to goodreads. One of my favourite things to do is read. I tend to prefer fantasy novels as a love immersing myself in a fantaatical new world. Some of my favourite authors include jim butcher, george r r martin, kim harrison and kelley armstrong.Ive always wanted to write myself but i lack commitment to projects. Im currently reading your writing coach to help me with that. Im also doing a 50 book challenge this year. Which may be difficult as some of the books are from a song of fire and ice so i will just need to read at every single waking second!
Hi. I'm Sharon (known as Harry). I've set myself a target of 115 books for 2015.
Hi I'm Amanda :) I like to read memoirs but enjoy reading other genres as well. Excited to be part of this!
Hi all I'm megan, 28, live up state new York, excited to join the group. as most of us on here I'm a pretty avid reader, I also work with the elderly and run a small business from my home. while my tastes are pretty broad as far as books go, I will pretty much read whatever strikes my fancy for that moment, I am finding that I am a fan of the stranger side of literature, strange writing styles, odd story lines, things that make you think and do also read little work while your reading it. I also love the classics.
Hi, I'm Mac (but a female "Mac"). I love to read but for the last ten years or so I have had trouble finding time and energy to do so. I fall asleep after a few pages.
I like primarily non-fiction, avoid romance novels, like historical fiction, and usually prefer women characters. I don't think I'm an academic reader and sometimes don't like novels receiving critical acclaim. (Sorta like the movies nominated for Oscars--I usually don't like those either.) For instance, I didn't care for Good Lord Bird. I did like Life after Life and really liked the Sisters Brothers.(Tournament of Books books.)
I used to read about 100 books a year (Ludlum, Grisham type books) but funny thing is, I barely remembered them after I was done. Once or twice I bought a book for the second time and didn't realize until after a few pages that I'd already read the book. Making a record is one reason I love GoodReads.
Last year, I read 59 books and the year before 40 books. Last year was hits and misses. The year before was a lot more hits. I'm signing up for this year's GoodReads challenge for 35 books. I had the same goal last year and I couldn't believe it but I felt pressure to meet the goal. Ended up meeting in July. Now I know I can make 35. I'm looking forward to some great ones.
I have a list of "want to read" a mile long.
I belong to a book club. Sometimes I get some surprise exposures to different books but most of the time, the selections are from the "best of" lists. Which I don't mind at all. The books are on the "best of" lists for a reason.
I'm currently reading "Orphan Master's Son" now. I also have an audio book going for my commute to work. (Over half my books are now read in audio. I check them out from the library so usually the current big hits aren't available. More often than not I am pleasantly surprised with my audio choices.)
So that' about it for me. Looking forward to participating in the group!
Mac
Hey guys! I'm Gabby. I've always loved reading. I would hit a bookstore at least once a month every month, and leave with no less than 4 books, and I would borrow novels from my school library at least once a week! But, over the past couple of years I haven't been reading as much as I used to because I was way too busy with school. Now, I'm in my last year of high school and i'm really eager to get back into it, so after years of searching for books and reviews on goodreads, I've finally decided to join and I couldn't be more excited.
I'm doing my first real reading challenge (2015 reading challenge of course) and I' glad I found this group. I've always stuck to YA fiction and fantasy, but I'm looking forward to expanding my palate. Great to meet you all :)
