welcome caitlin...hope you enjoy this as much as i have...
Hi, I'm Suki. My reading is all over the place, but my favourite genres are probably classics, fairy tales, and dystopian fiction.Edited to add I also love Victorian/gothic horror.
Hi everyone...my name is Aldora and I'm new here to Goodreads. I've recently joined your group and I'm really interested in the 2014 Reading Challenge because I do love to read; I'm still a little confused in regards to the activity and would like to learn more. I'm 31 years old and some of my favorite books that I like to read include the classic literary novels, Langston Hughes poetry, biopics, history, suspense/thriller, science fiction and romance...I'm a mother to an 18 month old baby girl and I also enjoy reading classic fairy tales to her as well as Aseop's Fables. I appreciate any assistance in regards to the group and thank you so much for accepting my invite :)
Hi, Aldora! I'm relatively new here as well, having joined in late December, and I completely understand being confused with all the activity here. This is a very dynamic group, and there are so many challenges and discussions going on all the time! Once you get used to it, and pick the things you'd like to participate in, it gets a lot easier. And that's the best part of the group: you don't have to do any of the challenges to be a member.....you can do as many or as few as you'd like, there's no pressure at all, just reading for fun and growth, plus a lot of new friends along the way.One thing I've found is that everyone is friendly and helpful, so just ask questions, and you'll get all the help you need. And not just the mods, pretty much everyone will be supportive and help you get things figured out.
So, welcome to the group and have fun!
Hello, my name is Lanelle and I live in hot and sunny Arizona. My favorite genre is what I call '1800's romantic suspense'. If there is a real name for these books, I wish someone would let me know. Examples are: Silent in the Grave, And Only to Deceive, The Anatomist's Wife and The Blackstone Key.
I really enjoy participating in challenges. They help knock out books on my TBR list, and it's a good way to find new books and authors to read.
I started a blog over a year ago. I'm having a lot of fun reviewing out of copyright books you can find free in the internet. There's nothing better than free books!
Hi, my name is Liz and I love to read. I'm new, just found out that good reads has groups, lol. So I'm looking for friends that enjoy the kind of books I like to read so we can chat about it. It is also the first time I make a new years resolution and join the reading challenge. I have decided to read 100 books for 2014 and am currently in a slump as I can't seem to decide what to read next :( anyways I hope this is the right group for me, so, Hello!
There are so many new people joining. Welcome to you all. We have a fantastic group here. Please ask if you have any questions and I hope to see you all in buddy reads and challenges.
Hi everyone, I'm ReGina. I'm a new 5th grade teacher, so I'm trying to read a lot of upper elementary books so that I can make recommendations to my students. Personally, I like to read contemporary fiction and classics mostly. However, I'm also expanding my repertoire, so I'm open to recommendations!
Hello everyone, I'm Emma. I'm just about finished my first year of university (got a few exams to sit over the next two weeks, hence the procrastination!) so I have a long summer ahead of me. I go through phases of devouring book after book and then phases of nothing, but having just replaced my broken kindle after a year of being without one, I've finally gotten back into it and I think this group is exactly the motivation I need to keep this up. My taste is all over the place, I read most things, so I'm very up for trying everything and anything here.
Hello! my name is Delmy and i love reading, my favorite genres are classics, horror, sci-fi and some graphic novels, however i am open to reading others.I have seen this group around but only just now have i gotten around to checking it out and seems like a neat group to join. I am currently a student, though school is out and i am from Canada.
Hi everyone! My name is Rebecca and I just stumbled on this group and had to join :) I am from the Boston area. I love to read and write. I have 3 boys (7, 12, and 14). I left higher education administration to become a holistic health coach/counselor, speaker, and author. My reading interests vary greatly. I love romances, mysteries, and non-fiction. I am in awe of how much many of you read!! I usually decide what to read next from what I see others reading but I can't keep up with all of you. My goal is 50 books but I know I'll surpass that because I'm counting all the kids books I read, too. :) I may have to up it to 100.
Hello Group. I am Shridhar. I came across this group while browsing through Good Reads. I like reading books, both fiction and non-fiction. I do it particularly on weekends because i take some time out to do that. I am currently reading The Intelligent Investor. Hope i get some good reading suggestions from all of you.Keep eeading and rocking !!
Hey I'm Lou, just joined the group. I'm 28, and love to read anything from Terry Pratchet to Shakespeare. xx
Hi everyone, my name is Zita and of course I love reading! I´m 25, from Prague and work as a librarian in the public library. I read everthing from young adult to non-fiction, and I wonder how many books I can manage to read this year, because goal is 150 now.
Hi, my name is Annie and I joined this group because I like reading, but lately have slacked off and I figured joining would encourage me to try new books and keep up with them! I also am planning on being a high school English teacher so I feel like its important me for to keep an open mind about books!
Welcome to all of our new members! It's great to see so many people take time out of their schedules to read a book.@Annie: That is a great profession, make sure you'll keep your enthusiasm. Teachers can help children so much!
Jennifer wrote: "Cosmic wrote: "Hi Jennifer,We did a Buddy read of the bookQuiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking

Jennifer, I don't know if you still watch this thread, but:
If you look at the group homepage, and you scroll down the list of topics, at the end you'll find a link that says "more discussions", which will lead you to this page. There you can find all topics we've had so far, including all our previous group read discussions :).
Hi, I'm Angelique. I've only recently discovered Goodreads (joint this month) but I'm loving it! I've set my challenge for 30 books and so far I've been able to register 5 books. I'm joining this group hoping to expand the range of books I'm reading. My favourite genres are Romance, History, Fantasy and Thriller and preferably combinations of two or more of these. Books most often read: Lady of Hay by Barbara Erskine and The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien
Hello! I'm Alissa, I'm almost 32 (birthday in May), married for 3 years and have a little girl who was born last July. I love to read anything and am open to suggestions! I love doing challenges and buddy reads because it helps me focus on reading, which is hard to do with an active crawler in the house haha
I also love learning about new books from people, so feel free to friend request me
Hi! I'm Valla, I'm 29 from Rome (Italy). I studied classic literature (and languages: Latin and Greek) and I love reading since I was a little girl.I didn't read much last year and I feel a little bit ashamed of it :) 2014 will be the year of my great return (at least I hope so!)
This is the first time that I join a group in GR, but you're exactly what I was looking for! See ya :)
Hey guys n gals new here, names jay but people call me tank. i love sci-fi books, graphic novels and horror.personal faves are.
Gardens of the moon.
salamander (omnibus)
gaunts ghost series,
hope to hear about some good books on here!
Welcome everyone new :). I love that we have such diverse reading tastes. I hope you all find something that's right for you. Remember, always feel free to ask about things.@Valla: Don't feel bad about not reading a lot! The most important thing is that you enjoy whatever it is you read. I've gone down from around 180 books last year to about 15 I've read so far this year, but I've spent a lot of time with these books (even thinking about them when I wasn't reading), so I know them more. (And because I used to read so much, I really know how to pick a book for myself now, so I haven't read anything bad either.)
So you can read a lot or focus more on something - whatever it is, we will cheer you on! :)
Thank God I know my taste well and I have a good "nose" so I am (almost) always happy of my readings :) But I see a lot of interesting titles so I think "Oh, I wanna absolutely read this book! But I don't want finish the one that I am reading just now!", I need to find a right balance!
Hi there. Lately I've been spending too much time watching TV and not enough time reading. I love to read and my hope is that by joining this book club I will change some of my bad habits.

Francis wrote: "Hello. I have the reissued 1922 edition of Ulysses and am looking forward joining you."Wonderful! I'm really looking forward to that buddy read. It's a book that I wouldn't have picked for myself (mostly because I didn't know anything about it), but I'm sure it'll be well worth the read. Do you collect old books?

Hi! I'm Melissa. I joined the group because I'm always looking for ideas on what to read. Can't wait to chat with everyone about the books!
Welcome, Melissa! I have found so many excellent books through this group that I either wouldn't have read at all, or were fairly low on my priority list. I hope that the same will be true for you!
hello everyone! My name is Robyn and I was a part of this group last year. We did a Buddy read of the bookQuiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking
You can find it in the February buddy read in this group. Buddy reads are a lot of fun. If you can't find it let new know and I will put a link here.
I like self helps as well. If you have a group that is studying a book I would love to know about it.
