Same when I heard her years ago at Sydney writers festival. That was when I first read one of her books. Have read most since then.

Interesting to read your review Brenda. I've read nearly all of the Jack Reacher books, and would call myself a fan, but I have been a little underwhelmed the latest issues.

I have read them all, and am a big fan. I buy them the minute they hit the shops. But I really couldn't take to this one:( And won't be buying the paperback!

I've heard some good things about this but won't be reading it as some darling at work gave the whole plot away for me :(

I didn't say anything. Just turned and walked away. I haven't asked her what she is reading since. Although my boss says I should wait until she reads a book I've read and helpfully tell her the ending. Sadly I'm not that nasty :)

I can! That's why I'm really careful reading reviews before I get a book. Once I didn't even get to the reviews, I was scrolling down the Amazon page to look at something about the author, and the first quote pulled out from reviews by the top of the section told what happened to the main character at the end! That sucked...

Though in person, yeah, that I haven't experienced.

Tango | 290 comments I'm part way through a very disturbing book called The Book of Night Women. It is set in Jamaica and depicts the
brutal treatment of African slaves on the sugar plantations. It is written in vernacular which takes a while to get used to but is quite original and engaging.
