Carolyn | 9840 comments Here is my review for Big Little Lies 5★
review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I finished it more or less in one sitting on the weekend and I thought it was even better than The Husband's Secret. Will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks.

Marina Finlayson | 285 comments Slipping into bad habits again -- partway through reading The Girl Who Saved the King of Sweden and have started Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen, while also having little peeks at Big Little Lies.

At one time I had a dozen books piled up, all with bookmarks partway through. Some of them stayed on the pile so long the part of the bookmark that stuck out the top got faded by sunlight! Does anyone else do this?

One of my favourite books. She writes beautifully and really brings her characters to life.

I'm thinking it would also fit into the August literary challenge :)

Not if I am enjoying a book. I just want to keep reading it. The exception is poetry or sometime a biography that is sad. Then I dip in and out.

Ooh, I love Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies - they are the only historical novels I've read that I also call literary fiction, they're so beautifully written. I can't wait to hear what you think, Bette - if nothing else, you'll get a very different perspective of Henry, Catherine and Anne than you have probably read in any other book.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Since I forgot my book I'm currently at work reading The Falling Machine which I grabbed off the shelf.

Odette (odman) | 1136 comments Recently finished Ember Island Ember Island by Kimberley Freeman by Kimberley Freeman.

I gave it 4 stars as I really enjoyed reading this book, and became very absorbed in it. I liked the style of writing descriptions of place and characters.

However, felt a little disappointed at the end. Though I did like the dual time lines, I felt the present day story to be weaker.

It was a wonderfully complete review, that summed up so much of what I've felt reading the story myself. It was beautifully articulate. The kind of review that gets quoted on covers of books, actually!

Sally906 | 87 comments My current reads are light years apart in genre. I am reading a quirky paranormal adventure Timeless by Gail Carriger which is the final in that series. I am also reading a more literary book Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who is my favourite Nigerian writer.
