an Aussie historical novel and enjoying it."
Sounds good Dale, Australian Historicals are my favourites! :)

I finished it more or less in one sitting on the weekend and I thought it was even better than The Husband's Secret. Will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks.

Ooh sounds fascinating...I talked a lady in the bookshop into buying The Husband's Secret yesterday...hope she's enjoying it :)
I finished Frontier Incursion by Leonie Rogers and recommend it to everyone even if you are not normally a sci fi reader. And especially if you like cats:)

At one time I had a dozen books piled up, all with bookmarks partway through. Some of them stayed on the pile so long the part of the bookmark that stuck out the top got faded by sunlight! Does anyone else do this?

No Marina. I have a three books max rule! Now, as for craft projects, well that's another story.....

I have a cupboard full of those too!

Ooohhhh!! I need to read this.
I will keep a look out for what you think of it.

One of my favourite books. She writes beautifully and really brings her characters to life.

Starting Frog Music by Emma Donoghue - so far so good!

Great Book Bette. Hope you enjoy it. I have the sequel Bring Up the Bodies on my Winter Challenge list to read soon. Have you read that Phrynne?

Excellent! Looks like I'll get round to it in the next few weeks.
I'm thinking it would also fit into the August literary challenge :)

Not if I am enjoying a book. I just want to keep reading it. The exception is poetry or sometime a biography that is sad. Then I dip in and out.
I finished The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North. It was really good - not exactly time travel but in the same vein.

Thank you, Bette and Leonie, I'm glad you enjoyed the review :-) I actually wrote it in a bit of a hurry and worried that I hadn't done the book justice ... But maybe I should write more like that in the future!

Ooh, I love Wolf Hall and Bring Up the Bodies - they are the only historical novels I've read that I also call literary fiction, they're so beautifully written. I can't wait to hear what you think, Bette - if nothing else, you'll get a very different perspective of Henry, Catherine and Anne than you have probably read in any other book.

I gave it 4 stars as I really enjoyed reading this book, and became very absorbed in it. I liked the style of writing descriptions of place and characters.
However, felt a little disappointed at the end. Though I did like the dual time lines, I felt the present day story to be weaker.

It was a wonderfully complete review, that summed up so much of what I've felt reading the story myself. It was beautifully articulate. The kind of review that gets quoted on covers of books, actually!

I finished Newt's Emerald which is an odd little book by Garth Nix. A pleasant read!

Yes I can Vicki! But I don't know if it's on kindle yet:) Totally brilliant though, with an astounding plot!

That's right...you can put it on your wish list and revisit it some time in the future;)

Hey Alik, I got The Collected Works of A. J. Fikry from the library yesterday. Were you the reader before me? Looking forward to getting into this one. Thanks for alerting me that the library finally had it!

Great Book Bette. Hope you enjoy it. I have the sequel...
It certainly would. I'm waiting now for the third book:)"
A third book; now, I am excited:)
