I agree Kathryn and Sally - the app sucks on iPad! GR on safari is so much better for linking and commenting :)

Suz | 4428 comments You guys are so true re. the app. I'm not commenting much on here as I'm not close to a desktop and too fiddly in iPhone! The scan feature is great thru the app on either iPhone/iPad when I've been on a safari to Vinnies/op shops and Anglicare though!! Also terrible for typos ;)

Suz | 4428 comments As for what I'm reading... I See You Everywhere by Julia Glass is quite boring. I need to get into some literary fiction for the August Challenge. Then I'll probably say it's too hard!!

message 9954: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 87 comments I can access goodreads through safari on my iPhone. But too small - just not worth the effort.

message 9955: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2164 comments I nearly always use desktop version, but I do find the app on my phone very handy when I'm browsing in a bookshop. I scan the barcode and it goes straight onto my TBR - then I always know what to buy/borrow when I'm ready to do so.

Tango | 290 comments I've just finished Little Dorrit which, of course, was brilliant. About to start a reread of Lethal Sky. As for the Goodreads app, I don't like it at all and just added the site it to my home screen on the iPad.

I've had Little Dorrit on my list for ages - since watching the BBC series (which was excellent) - but I've been a bit daunted by the size... Glad to hear you enjoyed it, Tango - I must make an effort to get around to it sometime!

My dad was a Charles Dickens lover and he and I read through the complete works back in the 60s and 70s. I don't think there was one I didn't like

I wasn't overly impressed with Great Expectations but enjoyed A Christmas Carol. David Copperfield is also on my list, and from what I've read of excerpts seems good, but I still have most of it to read. And A Tale of Two Cities is also on my list but am daunted by the length (and the often fine print!). Maybe I should plan to read one or both sometime next year... I have a copy of David Copperfield on my shelf staring at me, so no excuse for not reading that one!!

What Alice Forgot is probably still my favourite of hers, but I really enjoyed this one.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9975 comments I can really see why The Collected Works of A. J. Fikry was so popular here, I'm not even halfway through the library copy and already thinking about getting my own. Taking it to Mum tomorrow so she can read it before it's due back.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) @Marianne, thanks for the reminder about the book. Just reserved it at library but won't get it until about mid-September:(

Picked up The Twelve Tribes of Hattie where I had left off at about 30% - not because I wasn't enjoying it but because I was going for less screen time and this one was on my ipad. Picked it up again last night and nearly done. I really like it. I wondered if I would - after the hype of being an Oprah's book club choice. I read a review that said that they wanted to hear more of what happened to each character but that doesn't really bother me - I see it as being more about each child's relationship with Hattie and how it has affected their lives and adult relationships. I will be very interested to see how it winds up. At around 90% now, so close ...
