Well then I was the girl standing right behind you! I looked at you and thought you looked really familiar!
OMG!! That is unbelievable! What a shame you didn't tap me on the shoulder and say "don't I know you" lol
I should of! We probably wouldn't have made the connection though, I don't have a photo of myself up on Goodreads.
Jo wrote: "As an adoptee I have found my birth mother and she has told me about how she was sent from a country NSW town on the train to Melbourne to give birth to me. This was 1957."Certainly shows Michael and Jo how much things have changed over the years. Appalling treatment back then.
I have just started reading a non-fiction book:
Adventures with the Wife in Space: Living With Doctor Who by Neil PerrymanNeil Perryman is a Doctor Who fan who get really exited when after a break of 16 years BBC brings a new series back to the small screen. He discovers his wife had never seen the snow and somehow this results in the two of them watching every episode ever made and he blogged about her reactions. The blog has now evolved into this book. Am only a little way in but enjoying it.

Brenda, this was my 2nd reading, I just wanted to refresh my memory which is getting worse as I get closer to 60.....what was I writing about? Oh yes, before I see the movie....I loved it last time and that hasn't changed. Will post a review soon. But definitely 5 ★ s. If you haven't read it, the narrative voice and style takes a little getting used to, but it is worth persevering. I do wonder how the illustrations come across in the kindle version, it would be a shame to miss out on those.
I have read it Marianne, and totally loved it! I'd forgotten you said you were re-reading;) You made me laugh there...hehe!!! Don't know re kindle, I read a "real" book;)

It's not really distressing to my mind - it's just a narrator with a difference. He sure is having success though, he's a brilliant author!

Finished reading We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver
My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...?
Finally, here is my review of The Book Thief, one of the three best books I read in 2013 - and, in fact, one of the best books I have ever had the privilege of reading:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished Unforgivable by Sharon Robards. A sobering and compelling story of unmarried pregnant women sent to Catholic homes to give birth and forced to relinquish their babies for adoption in Australia in the 1960's. It is also the story of the Catholic church striving to stay relevant in the changing social landscape, and the struggles of one nun's faith, vocation, emotions and attempts to do the right thing in the face of opposition.

Well I am still plodding along with The Luminaries although I've read 2 other books in between starting it and am just about to pick it up again now. @ 187 of 832 pages. The size is quite daunting!
