I was cruising through my old posts and came across this one that could be moved to possibly solved.http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...
Thanks for making this thread. When I come across threads like these in the depths of the unsolved folder, I'm never sure what do with them.
Here's a couple for Now We'll Never Knowhttp://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
Move to Unsolved:http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
These can be moved to whatever fits:
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...
http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/9...
And in these the poster didn't respond, but the book has most definitely been found:

msg 3 - someone already took care of the 2 'now we'll never know'(for future reference, let's keep each other informed, for less duplication of effort, thanks :)
msg 5 - both taken care of msg 4 - tricky to keep track of, but I did get all the ones not already taken care of by someone else (I'm pretty sure).
Somewhere in there I sent another PM or two...
Cheryl, you should sticky this message right under the description of the folder. Maybe with a re-title:'If you've found a thread which you think should go in this folder, but don't know what to do with it...'
'Cleaning up old threads: [and text above]'
Or something.
And maybe edit your original description/post to remind the mod people to let each other know what's already been done.
Also, you might want to post something like this in the unsolved folder. I know I kinda just lurk in that sub-category most of the time, ignoring much of the rest of the group....
The original poster has never replied to this. It may be abandoned? I could pm them but didn't know if maybe only mods should do that?EDIT: I messaged them. 07/26/13
This may be abandoned, too.And this.
this seems possibly solved but there was never a reply. (7/26/13 I messaged them)
Maybe the poster of this needs a message, too? (7/26/13 messaged)
And this, (7/26/13 messaged)
this, (7/26/13 messaged)
and this... (7/26/13 messaged)
You can send PMs, just be sure to include the link so it's easy for them to come back. I'm struggling w/ RSI pain and can't actually help w/this right now.
I messaged most of them but two of them (the two I didn't note) were already messaged a while ago so they are probably save for a mod to move.I hope your RSI starts feeling better! I have carpal tunnel in my wrists & have to sleep in braces so you've definitely got my sympathies!
msg 12 moved to abandoned - no response to a PM for two weeks, as is the case for most of the others, too.We may not actually be successfully helping a whole lot of people right now, but at least we're culling the Unsolved folder so helpers are more likely to be searching for someone who still cares! :)
Here's clarification about the reason we use Abandoned more often than we'd like to, and Possibly Solved less often than seems warranted:We try to reserve Possibly Solved for either of two situations. 1. - the OP says 'yes I'm pretty sure that's it, I'll have to check, but thank you' or 2. several members and/or at least one moderator have actually read the book and are confident that the suggestion is a perfect match. In too many cases, unfortunately, our protocol holds that we need to get conf. from OP before moving to P.S.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...Includes a couple of onward links to the same question. 'Possibly solved' I would suggest...
Looks like these can be moved to Possibly Solved:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Gerd, I think we could wait a little longer to see if the OP returns to verify that the book is solved. After a longer time, we'll move it to either the Possibly Solved folder, or to the Abandoned folder.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I'm new to the group. I've been trying to go through the Unsolved to see if I can help, but most appear to be YA or Children's books. Is there a way to filter them for genres I have read - mostly Sci-fi/Fantasy and Westerns.

Ken, no there isn't. We try to get people to be as specific as possible in their headers as to what genre the book is, as well as important book details, for exactly that reason, to make it easier for people to spot threads they might be able to solve.
There is a lot of sci-fi and fantasy in the threads. Fewer westerns that are strictly westerns, meaning that most "westerns" searched for are romances.

Well, I really can't help with most queries (without doing additional research or going to outside databases) because I don't read romance, westerns, sci-fi, fantasy, or YA.
But if you're willing to wade through a lot of headers and find the ones related to sci-fi and fantasy, there is a huge need for it. 116 pages of Unsolved queries.

I am not quite sure how to go about informing the awesome moderators about Solved stuff in the UNSOLVED thread. I have a link, https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... that is solved. I just did a basic cut n paste....

That one isn't solved because the OP hasn't responded. I'll bump the thread, though.

Claims to be solved in the title, but no mention if the book suggested is the right one or not.https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Meagan, are you not signed in perhaps? Is this the page you're seeing?

If so, the Forgot Password link at the bottom may help.

Everything I touch lately is either already solved or something I have no idea on, so I might work on this for a while. Let me know if I am doing it wrong.Deleted members for Now We'll Never Know:

* Possibly Solved: OP (Original Poster) has responded to one or more suggestions and said that it might be the right book.
* Query Abandoned by Poster: OP has not responded to suggestions for a long time.
* Now We'll Never Know: Like the second case, except the OP has left GR, and/or has deleted the original post.
(Thanks to rivka for the summaries. :)
If you have found a thread that you believe to be out of place, please post the link to that thread below, with a note about which folder you think it should be moved to.
Plz note that we will try to send a PM to the poster before moving the thread, and also that, of course, threads can always be moved back if necessary.
So, Have at it! Off you go to the threads in the Unsolved folder, looking for mysteries you can solve, and helping us clean up old queries.
