ARCHIVE TWO: PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELF ~
Hello Everyone. My name is Cody, I'm 28, and live in the United States (Wisconsin). I graduated college with a degree in Psychology and I'm currently working full-time as a youth counselor at a group home for troubled teens. I've always been sort of a history buff and I've been wanting to participate in book clubs for a long time, so this group seemed perfect! I just picked up The Last Days of the Incas from my local library the other day and I'm looking forward to catching up with the rest of the group.

Welcome, Cody, we're glad you found us.
As you get started please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link after all of the text of your post at the bottom of the post. Placement at the bottom of the post calls the reader's attention to the book and/or author and increases the readability of your post. This is how books you mention should look:

Hi, my name is Bruno Menezes, from Brazil.Since a young age, probably before my tens, I became interested in history. The Black Death, World War II, Vietnam, and other topics made a great impression on me.
However, I rarely read any book of any history account, relying only on what I heard from others, wich makes me a bit uneducated in this question, being now 20 years old.
I hope I can be helped by this group in the quest for culture, and eventually help the group myself. That's all.
Hello Bruno. I hope this club will help you in educating yourself on more history. We have a Vietnam topic:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Check out post 3824 from Bryan and please READ the links. Please do not in the future set up folders or threads - these are immediately deleted.
Additionally, Kathy sent you a Welcome letter which also had this information and all of the links with the rules and guidelines in them and they seemed to have been ignored a second time. I have also sent you a warning via PM.
We are vehemently against spam on this site and your thread was clutter. We already have threads where you can request suggestions and recommendations. Can you imagine with a group of 9000 what the site would like if everybody set up their own threads and folders when they were looking for a recommendation. That is why we have these rules and guidelines because we do not allow spam.

Hi folks, this is Vivek from Delhi, India. I join this club as a someone with immense interest and zero knowledge of history. I would look up to you luminaries to suggest the most awesome books to get started. I am mainly interested in 18th century and onwards, trying to understand the roots and context of colonialism, the european revolutions, all the great wars, rise of communist/fascist states, evolution of various political systems and the run up and fallout of the great wars. I have read about 5-6 books on history till now, mainly focused on India. Look forward to a great essential world history startup list....

I have an interest in the origins of ideas in human history and their continuous influence in the shaping of cultures and civilisations. Hello, my name is Martin Bruce King. While I read a wide variety of books, I find myself reading a lot of books I should have actually read in high school or during my undergraduate college days. Whatever I read, fiction or nonfiction, I usually approach the work, and the author, from a historical perspective. I always have one actual history book in my “currently reading pile.” While I read most types of history I have I have both a personal and academic interest in late twentieth century intellectual, environmental (political economy of) and economic (heterodox) history.
Hi! I'm Mandi :) I joined this group mainly because of my lack of knowledge in regards to history and my motivation to change that. I'm hoping this group will give me some ideas of good books to read and keep me motivated to learn more.
Hi I live in Australia and have joined this group to further develop my growing interest in history. I have a finance background so haven't formally studied any history....I'm just teaching myself so it is helpful for some guidance! Really looking forward to learning a lot!
So glad you joined us, Vivek and Jerome. You are in the midst of a whole crowd of history lovers!!!!! Looking forward to your participation.

Hello everyone. My name is Stuart and I'm living in the UK. At school I studied the world wars, the cold war and aspects of Victoria Britain. Since then I have read about a number of eras that interest me, such as ancient Greek and Roman history, crusades and middle eastern history and British history from 1066 onwards. I am very interested to learn more about other areas of history, particularly the Reformation, the age of discovery, the history of China, India and the USA. All suggestions welcome!

Hi,I've been on Good Reads for a while, but only recently began to use it.
I'm from North Lincolnshire, England, but only began to get into history around the time I moved to Wiltshire. I've watched many documentaries about history, but really want to start reading more books about the history of England. I'm currently re-reading The Seven Ages of Britain, which was written in conjunction with a Channel 4 documentary a few years back. It was the first history book I read of my own accord - and while it's quite basic, it did begin to teach me a lot about how things developed in Britain.
I've been looking around and have seen some interesting books on English history, but I'd still really appreciate any recommendations.
This looks like a great group. I look forward to adding to the discussions as I learn my way around here!
Best wishes,
Tim

Welcome Vivek, Jerome, Martin, Mandi, Samantha, Garra, Stuart and Tim. I love how international this group is. The Internet is great for gathering people from all over the globe with similar interests.
I joined this group ages ago, but it's been such a long time since I last used Goodreads I thought I'd re-introduce myself. My name's Robert and I'm from London. I've always loved history, especially that of the ancient world (which was my focus at university). My most recent historical read was
. I'm keen to branch out into unfamiliar areas, so I'm interested to see what others are reading.

Hello! I currently live in Virginia, a state that has a lot of history. My educational background does not include much history, but I really enjoy reading about our collective past. I guess the aspect about history I enjoy most is discovering what events from the past formed and shaped our current society. My historical interests lie in several areas such American History, Modern European history, ancient history, and several other areas.I'm looking forward to reading some of the selections the moderators and members post for discussions. Perhaps I'll expand my interests into areas i have not considered.
Welcome, Timothy. Glad you could join us.We have a American history topic for you to browse:

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.
This is how a book should look:
