Abdullah Almusaeed (a_almusaeed) Good day history lovers,

My name is abdullah and i'm from saudi Arabia. I consider my self a joiner when it comes to history knowledge - as it is an ocean of information. I'm interested in all kind of history in general, but lately been reading about WW2 and the military history, also, the different civil wars that took in some places in the world.

Since i live in the middle east, which involves a lot of events that arguably changed the face of our current world. Hence, being passion about history and trying to understand it, is the sensible thing to do.

I'm really looking forward for your recommendations and sharing the knowledge with you all.

Best wishes,
Abdullah

Jill H. (bucs1960) Thanks for joining us Abdullah....your introduction is quite perceptive regarding history and why we should try to understand what it teaches us. Here is our link to WWII which is one of your areas of interest.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Brian Stoddart | 6 comments Hello Everyone

I am Brian and new to this group. My background is as a trained historian (of modern India, and then broadening into global sports history and politics). I have worked as an academic, university executive and later as a higher education consultant in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, primarily. But I never left history as a means of understanding why things are as they are now, so my reading is eclectic in the genre. And of course, history now is such a broad field there is so much still to discover. I look forward to members of the group help open up some new areas of interest for me

Best wishes

Brian

I was born in Arkansas, but stayed in Arizona after attending law school here and I practiced approx. 10 years of trial work before retiring to be a stay at home mom and wife. I have been a bibliophile all of my life. I love historical fiction, but after law school, I find myself researching everything I read to find out more about it, how much of it is true, etc. I am developing a love for the history behind the fiction! However I don't know many non-fiction books and I think a group like this would be perfect for accountability and books to add to my tbr list! I'm very much looking forward to a non-fiction book to dig into with you!

John Hill | 1 comments Good Morning!

My name is John and I am 26 years old. I am married and we have a one year old son and another boy due next Tuesday! I teach English to middle school students, along with coaching tennis and football. I am currently working on my Master in English.

I was an English major in college but history has always been a deep passion of mine.

I've been looking for a group that can point me in the right direction for some great history reads and I think this is the one!

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Elysia (elysiaburns) Hello, my name is Elysia, and I have a passion for history! I am 14, and have loved history since the age of 7. My main interests focus on the 1400s to the 1800s. I love the clothes they wore and the life they lived. I also focus on the English monarchy and aristocracy. Paintings also interest me, especially portraits of well known aristocrats.

I love to read, and one of my favourite authors would be Phillipa Gregory.Thank you for welcoming me to your group, and I will be as active as I can.

Elysia :)
