We have members from around the world, so hopefully you will find someone from Cairo here -- or at least Egypt.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you comment. (There is a link on the top right of the comment box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them.
When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hello allMy name is Paula Lofting, I'm a re-enactor of Anglo Saxon/Viking/Norman history and for my day job I am a psychiatric nurse. I have had a love of history since i was a child and all history is good as far as I am concerned but my particular period of interest is in Anglo Saxon history especially the 11thc. I also like Wars of the Roses and anything pretty much medieval.
One of my favourite authors is Bernard Cornwell
So glad you joined us Paula. You will be right at home with all these history lovers. We have many topics which fit into your particular areas of interest. Let me start you with our British History at the following link.https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Hi, Great to be part of group dedicated to history books. I hope that Ii can contribute. History has been my passion in reading for as long as I can remember and I tend to go through specific historical periods for a while. Right now, I am reading medieval history as the town where I live was largely rebuilt around 1250 and I recently found out that one of the local castles was probably built by the Knights Templar. (fyi I am Scottish, but live I Switzerland, near Lake Geneva).
Having lived in Scotland, England, the USA and now Switzerland (the bit where we have a French culture) I am amazed at how different the perspectives on historical facts are.
Makes you cautious of accepting facts without challenging them!

Hello everyone! It is wonderful to meet some fellow history-lovers.
My name is Star. I am an American expatriate (originally from California) who lives in England, where I have been residing for the past seven years. I am married and have a four year-old son.
Since I was a preschooler, I have always had a fascination for history, antiquity. Indeed, a great deal of the kind of work I do is inspired by some facet of history or another.
Just seeing the numerous topics and boards in this group has my history-loving soul quite excited! I look forward to contributing whatever it is I can in this group through discussions. I also hope to learn a great deal from other members here as well.

Hi I'm Lucy and an contemporary artist and semi-retired paralegal who has left it way way too late to start writing an historical novel but I got the first words down on Easter Sunday. Woo Hoo. I was born in England, grew up in Geneva and now live in Vancouver on Canada's West Coast. I just finished reading The Schoolteacher's Wager by Vincent Lam. Excellent book - extremely well written, tight and a fascinating time in history with great characters. I recommend it highly. Hello to all/
If anyone has any information re web sites for the history of North Vancouver, and of Vancouver, British Columbia, in detail from 1911 to 1940 that would be appreciated. Other than archives that is. Such as non fiction books detailing that time - has anyone read Vancouver Noir? If so, I'd like to hear about it as I gather that it is set during that time frame and may help with my research. Many thanks.

Hi! My name is Cat Bryson. I am a History teacher who is still looking for a full time position. My favorite period of history is the Tudor era, however I am becoming more interested in US History as I tutor it. I love pretty much anything history related and I am always hunting for interesting things to share with my future students. I am from the United States, specifically New York. One interesting fact about me is that I have 7 dogs and would gladly rescue more if I had the money to feed them. =) I am excited about becoming apart of this group and finding great books to share with my future students to make History interesting and foster a love for learning in all of them.

Hi! My name is Kati and I am finishing up my student teaching. It has certainly been a wild ride, but I am looking forward to this summer when I do more reading for pleasure! I love anything related to military history or past wars. I would suggest The Englishman's Daughter: A True Story of Love and Betrayal in World War Iby Ben Macintyre for anyone who likes a mystery. It was superb!
Hey, I'm Lauren and I'm from Sheffield, UK. I'm currently an undergraduate in modern languages but enjoy learning about the history as well. I prefer Europe's medieval period the most but I do enjoy other periods as well.
