Welcome, Jeanne. Glad you could join us.Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the "add book/author" feature when you are ready to cite a book. (There is a link on the top right of the reply box.) It makes things so much easier for people to see your book recommendations, because they can see the cover and the links to the author. And it helps the Goodreads software connect books with groups that talk about them. When citing a book and/or author, please put the book cover, author's photo and author's link at the very bottom of the post after your text. Because it is on the bottom, it calls the reader's attention to the book/author and increases the readability of your posts.

Hello All,My name is Jeremy. I live in Eastern Oklahoma (USA) and I have always had a love for history. I mainly read Military Nonfiction but I will occasionally branch off into other areas.
I am looking forward to sharing thoughts and collaborating with others on the many great history books out there.
Thanks!
Jeremy
My name is David Denham (D. L. Denham). I am from the Louisiana, part of the Deep South in the United States. I am a Social Studies teacher as well as a historian (in progress) at Southeastern Louisiana University. There, I am finishing my Masters in History with a concentration in American History and a second love for English History (Tudor) as well. Although my reading load is intense, I like to read outside of "required studies" as much as possible and this group seems to be a step in the right direction. I am eager to participate in the discussions and meet some other lovers of history :)
Jeremy, we are so glad you found this group of history lovers like yourself. Let me get you started with one of you favorite topics at our Military History thread at the link below.https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

I am a 'bookaholic' and have loved books and reading from a very early age. My collection of many thousands of books includes a large number of personal development titles and other non-fiction books.
I have always been interested in history in the belief that it sets the context of our lives. This interest has grown even stronger in recent years as my knowledge and understanding of it has increased. This has been very much boosted by the research family members have done on our family tree, which we can now trace back to 0080 AD
For hobies I really enjoy reading, ...., running and sailboarding.

Hi I am Louise and live in South Africa. I am fascinated by history, especially the Rennaisance. I have experienced great changes in my own country from the age I could vote up to now, with effect that that I know history is not only about the past but also about today. I am a practising attorney in a small town and live on a farm as my husband is a cattle and game farmer. I love music and reading. Thank you for adding me tothe group.
Hi, my name is Cameron and I live in Washington DC but spend a lot of time these days in Africa and the Middle East for work. I'm mostly interested in Middle Eastern historical fiction. I thought I'd share one of my favorites-- an older book about the life of the famous medieval Persian poet Omar Khayyam but with plenty of political intrigue as well. Some will find it interesting, particularly in light of what is going on these days in Iraq and Syria. SamarkandLook forward to participating in the group.

hi, my name is Chichi. I live in Taiwan and used to be a western literature major. It took me some time to realize I'm more interested in culture and history than in literature. In general, I'm interested in causes and effects in changes in history. So I'm basically open to all book suggestions. But there are a few topics I'm relatively interested in, including Renaissance, colonial history (of Americas, Vietnam and India in particular), and history of Scotland as well as Ireland in terms of relationship to England.
Recently I've been reading Republic of Pirates. I picked it because I tend to check the books adapted into TV series or films and compare different versions. As this book was claimed to be the inspiration of NBC series "Crossbones," I imagined it might be a good idea to read the book and watch the series at the same time. The book is good and the TV series is fine so far, but I don't see much connection yet. Maybe I'll see some later.
In addition to history, I also love Sci-Fi, crime, fantasy, historical novels and non-fiction on psychology.
I'm really excited about joining this group, because I find it hard to talk about what I read with local people, as most of the books on history I read are not translated into Chinese.

Hello to everyone. My name is Richard Hewitt, I collect both ancient and modern works that provide insight into the origins of: religion, legend, fable, folklore, tradition, esoteric doctrines, secret societies and anything else that has served to mould the mysterious element of the human psyche through the ages. What intrigues me most is how esoteric works and concepts have influenced the actions of influential leaders and driven the development of cultures. I am always on the lookout for witting and unwitting testimony from historical works that point to an underlying esoteric concept. I look forward to offering alternative views in any relevant discussion…
Hello everyone:My name is Auther and I live in the United States. My primary interest is in general (broad) United States and Texas history, particularly from a neutral viewpoint when possible.
