Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments DG I don't think it is worth it. There are so many mediocre seasons. Save your money -- or get it from netflix/library.

Yes, checking the library is a good idea. Is it available for streaming on Netflix? I couldn't find out.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I remember watching discs from Netflix, but I don't remember what season. I didn't stream it though. Although that was years ago.

Lisa | 383 comments I agree - Trueblood not worth the purchase, best to borrow from somewhere. I just checked Netflix and it's not instant stream but you have to mailorder it :(

message 2455: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) So I really enjoyed A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter and This Same Earth (Elemental Mysteries, #2) by Elizabeth Hunter but I want to hear someone else's opinion of book three before I pick it up. I'm not in it for the mystery - really just the characters and I feel like they are already fine so I'm not sure what to continue for. I realize that (view spoiler) but I'm not sure that's enough.

message 2456: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) And having read Alpha & Omega (Alpha & Omega, #0.5) by Patricia Briggs and not made it through Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs , I've decided the series isn't for me. I just don't care about either Anna or Charles.

Lori (lorimcd) Ian wrote: "BTW...ever noticed my excessive use of ellipses? Does the editor in you find that annoying? "

NOPE! I use ellipses all the time - LOL! (And dashes!) Used to drive my technical editor up the wall in my regular correspondence to her. But she got over it.

As for commas, I've had a comma splice problem in the past, where I put in too many commas. Then I took them all out. Now, I'm trained according to my work's style guides and my technical editor. If I get a new technical editor at my next job, he/she will likely have a different set of rules. That's the way it works, right?

Finished up the Night Huntress series. Reading a few of the "in-between" books, like Happily Never After (Night Huntress, #1.5) by Jeaniene Frost and Magic Graves (Night Huntress, #4.5; Kate Daniels, #0.5) by Jeaniene Frost , which has "Home for the Holidays", a short just after the last published book, One Grave at a Time (Night Huntress, #6) by Jeaniene Frost .

WICKED BEAT! Just shout out when you're going to read it. Leea, I think it was you that said you wanted to read/review before the Aug 6 publish date, right? I'm ready to go any time you are.

Glad I'm not the only one not finding SHOOTING SCARS on Netgalley. On FB Karina Halle was having a fit about Amazon - something about the EiT books not being available? Not sure what that's about. But she did mention that the final book in the Artists Trilogy would be out in October this year - YAY!

Both Shooting Scars Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle and the final book, Bold Tricks, are available on Amazon for pre-order.

D.G. Regina wrote: " Save your money -- or get it from netflix/library. "

Thanks for the suggestion, Regina! One of my library has it so I put the first season on hold. It may take a while for me to get it but I'm not in any rush.

message 2459: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I beleive the EiT issue with Amazon was fixed fairly quickly.

I am auto approved for the publisher that is releasing Shooting Scars and it is not there! But I do notice (as I am sure you all do) that there are reviewers on GR that have it -- so maybe she decided to forgoe NG.

I am surprised Tellulah, Charles is one of my favorite of all times. If you choose to read on in the Mercy World, I recommend you at least read Fair Game (#3 Alpha & Omega -- sorry GR isn't working for me) first, as you may be a bit lost during Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson -- I think #6). But I am sorry you didn't enjoy it.

Tellulah... a LOT happens in book 3, but there are definitely some uneven parts and the beginning seems to drag. But once it gets going, WHAM! I don't quite remember everything, because my review is sparse and without spoilers, but I really liked book 3. I do remember that I thought Gio's and B's relationship continued to deepen, and I felt like the new characters we were introduced to added to the story.

If you do decide to read it, don't skip over the beginning with the small island in China, even if it seems boring. What happens there affects everyone and everything, including the rest of book 3 and all of book 4.

I'd recommend you read book 3 and then decide if you want to continue. I'd expect that you'd immediately grab book 4, but that might just have been me. I do like the mystery part of it, but when all was said and done, the mystery wasn't the best part. The characters were.

I admit I had some issues with #3 but I'm glad I read it. I'm not in for the mystery either and certainly this took relevance in this one. I still have the last one to go. BTW I'm planning to read it after my current reading,
The Demon's Lexicon (The Demon's Lexicon Trilogy, #1) by Sarah Rees Brennan .

D.G. Cut my hair today and I feel so light! (I had like 10 lbs of hair...so I'm donating 13 inches to Locks of Love.:)

I got the audio already for Magic Rises (Kate Daniels #6) by Ilona Andrews but will start it as soon as I finish the two books I'm reading now The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1) by Cinda Williams Chima and Killing Floor (Jack Reacher, #1) by Lee Child , both which are going so good. If only Recorded Books hadn't been jerking us around with the release of the audio, I wouldn't have scheduled a buddy read of another book during the release date of Magic Rises!

message 2475: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments That is such a nice thing to do, D.G., donating your cut hair! *applauding you* Wow, 10 lbs - that's lots of hair and cut 13 inches! Must've been real long. Bet it's much cooler and your neck muscles are thanking you for a break :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments All this talk of Elemental Mysteries. I won't be getting to read book 2 until September 1st because I'm waiting for my friend Carina.

D.G. I'm excited to see you reading Demon King. Wendy and I love that series.

Finished King Hall by Scarlett Dawn the other day and it had a few debut/new author issues (repetitive phrasing, insecure heroine, some crude situations thrown in almost to increase shock value possibly), but I think I liked it in spite of the flaws. After a shaky start, I ended up finding the second half of the book to be a lot of fun and I like that there's no romantic entanglements at the moment (although I know who the love interest will end up being and I strongly approve), and the friendships are the bigger focus.

Finished Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys tonight and liked it, but didn't enthusiastically love it the way I loved her other book Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys . The author sure has a beautiful way with words though.

Getting back to The Heiress Effect (Brothers Sinister, #2) by Courtney Milan

This is the second time I've donated hair in the last 5 years. First time it was 14 inches, this time it was 13 (my hair grows like weeds!) I was starting to get headaches because my hair was so long and I have tons of it. I'll post pics in a few. ;)
