I'm not really sure yet. It's a good start.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Glad you loved it. Tell the Wolves I'm Home was my faovirte read in 2012. And maybe of all time.

I admit that I am worried to start Hero!

Leea | 1437 comments Regina, let me know when you want to start Hero? I'm worried too.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 173 comments finished The Gladiator's Master which i enjoyed very much. it took me a while cause i was too lazy in between work days. now on to Beyond Eden (Eden, #1) by Kele Moon which i also am enjoying.

Leea | 1437 comments I'm reading Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4) by Olivia Cunning (love that cover) but something about this first part feels forced.

Stacia, did you start? I know you're super busy, but I wanted to get this ARC done before starting Shooting Scars.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I actually just finished. We were out all day and most of the night but I had my reader with me, so I read a little bit at a time when I had down time between activities.

I ended up really liking it but I could relate to both characters and have been in the same situation. Not sure if the book will work for everyone though.

For some reason, I'm not all that excited about Shooting Scars. I liked Sins & Needles quite a bit but can't seem to recall why now. My book memory has been awful lately. There's only a few books which have been sticking with me.

Leea | 1437 comments I have to say I never knew about "Eric's problem but now that I know, I just love him more. He's not perfect, he's got issue but he's honest and real and I love him. Ha! I'm 38% into it (view spoiler)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I haven't read much erotica lately, so it was a nice break.

I absolutely agree with what you said. Those were my thoughts exactly. (view spoiler)

message 2559: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm really enjoying that part. Their open honest communication is refreshing to read.

message 2560: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Stacia - sending lots of well wishes for your mom.

Stacia & Leea, I read Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4) by Olivia Cunning . And I've gotta get my review out, 'cuz the book comes out today, right? I wasn't sure that I was going to like the book, because there seems to be a lot of DRAMA in this book, especially in Reb's (Rebecca's) family and life. It's not my favorite of the series, but I did end up liking it a lot. Eric and Reb make a good couple. And yeah, I really like that they have that open, honest communication.

Picked up a time travel/Highlander/historical romance freebie, Going Back for Romeo by L.L. Muir and really liked it. It's by L.L. Muir. I started the 2nd book Not Without Juliet by L.L. Muir , and I'm not so sure about that one.

I took a bad fall at a friend's house and really banged up my right knee and shin. Still recovering and turning lots of pretty colors - LOL! I've been reading a lot. It's time to get the reviews in here and at Netgalley.

Read my way through Hotshot (Buchanan-Renard #11) by Julie Garwood , by Julie Garwood. It's a new series. The book was a bit uneven in places, but with some good feedback and good edtiors, I think this will be a really good series. Some places felt a bit longer than necessary, but I realized their significance later. I'm ready for the next book!

Also finished up the Cat & Bones Night Huntress series - yet more books I need to put reviews in for. I might have to read them again, just to keep them straight. I'm reading First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost , the one about Cat's friend Denise and Bones' friend Spade. I got it from the library.

ANGIE - thanks for the heads-up on Shooting Scars! I put in a request, so we'll see. Netgalley doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason about what they approve or not approve me for. Some publishers (like Harlequin) automatically turn me down; but for other books, it seems a bit random. Either way, it won't be that much longer for the book to come out, right?

message 2561: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I got approved for Shooting Scars so i'll be reading that next. I've got a 1/4 of Wicked Beat left, then i'll review it. It's not my favorite but it's a hot book for sure!

message 2562: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments It took me awhile but I finally finished Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt . It was so sad :(

I am starting Good For You (Between the Lines, #3) by Tammara Webber and looking forward to reading the following book which just released today.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Thanks Lori. She's going to be staying put at the hospital for a little while, so we're taking it one day at a time.

Sorry to hear about your fall. :( Feel better soon!

I have Shooting Scars but don't know if I'll read it before it's published. I'm behind on books at the moment.

Still working on Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt and started my last overdue galley Untamed by Jane Shoup , which is really good so far. I am anxious to see how it's going to go when this Jane meets her Tarzan. I hope he's completely removed from civilization in terms of how he interacts with others. I love those types of stories.

I didn't realize the 4th Between the Lines book was out! I am going to have to find a place to squeeze it in this month.

message 2565: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I only knew because I saw Webber post something about it on her Facebook page... I didn't even know a 4th book was coming out till the other day. I can't believe it's out already. Is the book about Reid? (I guess I could go look it up for myself. lol)

message 2566: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I finished 14 by Peter Clines which was good - -it would make a great movie. The audio is fantastic.

I just started the audio of Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple which is great so far.

I am about 35% in to Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle for some reason it is slow going right now.

message 2567: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments When I met Webber earlier this year, she was working on book #4 which is about Reid and Dori (a continuation from #3). She came to the Bay Area to research Berkeley b/c that is where Dori goes to school in book 4.

message 2568: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments ahhhh... I don't even remember what happened in book 3. Proves i'm getting older and truly losing my mind.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments It looks like book 4 is going to possibly deal with the public finding out that (view spoiler)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4) by Olivia Cunning and there is some smoking hot dress up scenes. They're funny too.

Now onto Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle Can't wait to read more about my Cam :)

message 2573: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Got turned down for the Shooting Scars ARC, so I'll just have to wait a few weeks.

I liked Wicked Beat, too.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I just realized my book requests have been shifting in a new direction. Didn't even realize I'd been doing it until I just looked at my shelf. Talk about real life prodding you subconsciously.

message 2575: by Ian (new)

Ian (setaian) | 640 comments Well I was thinking about The Nightmare Affair but $9.99 for the Kindle version...damn that's expensive. Maybe I'll think a little more.

The Nightmare Affair (The Arkwell Academy, #1) by Mindee Arnett

I'm looking for a cute and quirky audiobook if anyone has any recs. I've just read 2 Susan Andersen books and while they're mostly good, she can totally kill a mood when she starts writing about sex.

"Her hand reached into his waistband and glommed onto his cock"

WTF?

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 1116 comments Hahaha, I've never ever heard the word glommed before. It is not a pretty word. It sounds murky, and ew.

Oh yay! Didn't know there was aniother one!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Speaking of taking a while. I got a chance to finish Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Brunt and I had sort of a love/hate with the book. It was well-written, but it was quite the slow starter and the book had moments where I found myself starting to lose interest because I never fully connected with June. But the end was lovely. My emotions have been getting tossed around with real life issues, so I didn't cry, but the story was definitely something which tugged at the heartstrings.

Going to go ahead and finish out a book or two in progress before starting anything new.

message 2580: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Stacia, I agree with you about the slow start.

I finished Good For You (Between the Lines, #3) by Tammara Webber and I enjoyed it. Webber writes New Adult where I don't feel like I'm reading about immature, whiney adults.

I started Here Without You (Between the Lines, #4) by Tammara Webber . I also started Vampire Mine (Alpha and Omega, #3) by Aline Hunter which I have been waiting forever to read and it's finally out. I'm also listening to Shift (Shifters, #5) by Rachel Vincent .

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments I really do like Webber's style of writing. Even a weaker book by her is still enjoyable to read.

Oooh, Shift! I hope you like it! It was my probably my favorite book of the series. How long ago did you read Prey? That one got me a little emotional.

message 2582: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments It looks like I listened to Prey in May 2012. So, it has been awhile. I agree, Prey was emotional...especially what happened to her brother.

message 2583: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments I'm reading Magic Rises (Kate Daniels, #6) by Ilona Andrews finally! Waited forever for my preorder to arrive. It's SO good.

message 2584: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Hope you enjoy, Lisa!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Untamed by Jane Shoup and I had a lot of thoughts about this (maybe too many as I tend to overthink things), both good and bad. Definitely not what I'd been expecting...it was Tarzan and Jane, but not the family version, haha.

Starting Gravity (The Taking, #1) by Melissa West and it had a spooky little start until "hot guy" came in. I hope it gets back to being creepy.

message 2586: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) So glad I listened to Regina and read Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs and then Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs I really liked Anna and Charles in this one - maybe because there was more humour for me, or less victimization or something. And it def made a difference to read it before Fair Game. Which was great.

My only complaint was (view spoiler)

message 2587: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Bitter Night (Horngate Witches, #1) by Diana Pharaoh Francis . I think it was a mistake reading it right after Kate Daniels because I could really tell how new this author is to Urban Fantasy. Still does not take away the fact that the descriptions of the people were pretty bad and the antagonists weren't very clear. I don't know what it is but whenever authors use "gleefully" (like laughing or smiling) to describe the enemy, it just really bothers me. Definitely will not continue series. I have read her fantasy books before and it wasn't that bad so I thought that kind of writing style would carry over. I was disappointed.

message 2588: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished Shooting Scars (The Artists Trilogy, #2) by Karina Halle and it was fast paced, engaging and scared the crap out of me at times. lol!! Still working on my review. wrote it at 6am before getting the kids off to school and then working in their classes... Not sure if it's coherent. ha!

Next up... I don't know. I can't make up my mind, ask Wendy i'm driving her nuts ;)

message 2589: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Hero?

I didn't love shooting scars as much as I loved sins & needles. I still liked it just not the same strong love.

message 2590: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Finished First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1) by Jeaniene Frost , one of the Night Huntress "world" books about Spade and Denise. I liked it. Not quite as compelling as Cat & Bones, but I enjoyed how Ms. Frost expanded that "world".

message 2591: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I really didn't like the ending...

Regina, I replied to your email :) I'll start with you but i'm going to also read Gunmetal with Wendy to prepare for Magic Rises.

message 2592: by Gwennie, Mrs. Bookworm (new)

I didn't see this post! I am glad. Fair Game is a very different book that the first two and the novella -- I thought you may enjoy it. :) It felt like an earlier Mercy book. And the tension between Charles and whats her name made sense. Frost Burned was also back to the old fashioned action. I get why people didn't like River Marked and for me A&O was never as strong of a series as Mercy (except Fair Game), but I do like A&O and River Marked. My point being -- I thought you would enjoy it. Glad I was right!

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I am in no rush for Magic Rises, so whenever. Thank you!!

Lori I agree with you about the Night Huntress World books. Although that shower scene was hot!

Tellulah, I am enjoying Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple which you recommended. The audio is fantastic. I do find it incredibly sad though that (view spoiler)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments I don't remember Tell the Wolves I'm Home being slow in the beginning. I just remember loving it so much. Stacia, how is your mom?

When should we fit in Covet? It isn't due until September, so that is okay.

DG is in Europe -- thinking of her!

I am enjoying Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
