Lisa | 383 comments Trying to catch up with all the posts I've missed.
Leea - hope your tests next week prove negative and you're fine and that you're having a memorable family camping vacation. Most of our camping trips had something happen to make it "memorable" - in some good ways and some in not-so-good ways. Those were my fav photos to scrapbook though.

Stacia - I'm wishing your mom a speedy recovery and that her health quickly improves - and that your stress will lighten.

Marcella - have a time in Hawaii! Hope it's not humid like it was when I went there in April.

Lori - thanks for the Highlander books recommendations and the price alert on one of them! I can't wait to get back in that genre.

I'm currently reading Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard and really liking it. Not very far in though and I get angry at all the interruptions to my reading time. grrrr...

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Thanks Lisa! I hope so too. I am not a fan of heat and humidity. Ha ha!

message 2253: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Noticed after my post that the book is hawked all over with the intro price. I caught it through one of my bargain ebook links. Didn't mean to become part of the propaganda.

Lori (lorimcd) Marcella, where in Hawaii are you headed? I was there in August & only had suffocating days on the Kailua-Kona side of the Big Island.

I am headed to Oahu.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Finished Like Falling (Surfacing, #1) by Jaden Wilkes and was disappointed. Too silly/angsty and I was hoping for more of the Mennonite life to be shown than there was.

Starting A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter with some friends. I know Melanie and Anna have been pushing this series for a while.

message 2257: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I'm reading Private Practice by Samanthe Beck and definitely not as sexy as it seems from the description. And the woman is too naive for words! She seems like she's 14 instead of 28.

message 2258: by Sandra (new)

Sandra | 27 comments I finished Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky, #0.5) by Veronica Rossi and started Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) by Veronica Rossi this morning.

Stacia: Indeed I also let myself escape a muffled YAY! when I saw you were reading A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, #1) by Elizabeth Hunter . It has every cliche in the genre but I think is fun reading and a short completed series.

I'd get by if you found it slightly better than the last one ;P Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about it.

I hate it when that happens. But those Entangled covers are so alluring!

D.G. Angie wrote: "I hate it when that happens. But those Entangled covers are so alluring! "

I know! I went in hoping for a romp but I'm 2/3 in and that's when they first do it! Grrr...

Does anybody have any recommendation of a hot book with a stuffy hero? I love those.

Her Best Worst Mistake by Sarah Mayberry has a stuffy hero. I can't recall the steam factor. Lisa Klepas It Happened One Autumn (Wallflowers, #2) by Lisa Kleypas is a tried and true historical rom with the stuffy Lord Westcliff, but maybe you've read it already?

message 2262: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Finished Hot Ticket (Sinners on Tour, #3) by Olivia Cunning (look at that cover :) These books are hot steamy and just pure fun to read. Stacia, remind me again when we're reading Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4) by Olivia Cunning ?? I can't wait for Eric's story, that's going to be a fun book.

I was going to read a few ARC's but I can't seem to get them onto my Kindle must be the wi-fi here at our hotel. I already had This Girl (Slammed, #3) by Colleen Hoover loaded on my Kindle so that's what i'm going to read next.

I've read both.

I found About Last Night by Ruthie Knox in a friend's shelf. Let's hope it's any good!

message 2264: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Stacia, I really liked The Elementals series that you're starting. The 1st book wasn't the best one in that series, but I did enjoy it - enough to buy and read the rest of the series.

I haven't heard from Netgalley on Wicked Beat (Sinners on Tour, #4) by Olivia Cunning , Eric's story... sure hoping that I can get the ARC. If not, I'll rely on you guys to tell me if it's good or not. I can't imagine it not being good. I've read the other Sinners' books.

Started in on Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost - the Night Huntress series. Read the prequel, Bones' New Orleans story.

If I don't get a bunch of reviews written soon, I'll completely forget my thoughts - LOL! But I'm too busy reading and working on interviews/follow-ups these days...

message 2265: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Lori, I love the Night Huntress series! The characters are fun, there's great humor and some of the best sex scenes, IMO. It will definitely shoot up the heat index in your climate-controlled home, heh.

message 2266: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Oh, Lori. I just read the first two full length books and I LOVED them! I only stopped because of previously scheduled buddy reads, but I will be returning to them ASAP!

message 2267: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Yay - I'll have to check out the Night Huntress thread here...

Wendy, isn't Bones on your list of Book Boyfriends?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Night Huntress is a fun series but the first few books are the best. I sort of lost interest after book 5 and ended up moving on to the spin-off instead.

Maybe we can go into it right after we finish Tell the Wolves I'm home because it's published on the 6th and I like to try to get my reviews in to the publisher before the book comes out if I can.

message 2270: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I've had the Night Huntress #3 in my TBR for like 3 years. Sigh...not sure if I'll ever get to that!

It was like the author wasn't even trying. I had such high hopes for this series. Hope the next one redeems the series for me.

message 2285: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 436 comments Finished The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred . This was an amazing book. It was very emotional and gut wrenching. So powerful.

message 2286: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Finished Private Practice by Samanthe Beck which was meh. It had funny parts but it wasn't as hot as it seemed from the description or the cover.

Not sure what to pick up now...

message 2287: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm reading This Girl (Slammed, #3) by Colleen Hoover and I have to say it's sweet but we're getting how Lake and Will met through his eyes and it just feels like an easy way to write a book. I find myself skimming a bit and enjoying the parts that are in present time. Mainly because i've read all this before in the past 2 books.

message 2288: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm reading This Man (This Man, #1) by Jodi Ellen Malpas . I don't think the 'sexy' billionaire trope is for me.

I think the problem is I read the Crossfire series and I cannot tell a lie. I absolutely loved it. I assumed it meant I liked the plot, which in this instance I did, but I think it was the author's writing that I really liked.

I was hopeful I could find more like that, but I think I am going to have to avoid this storyline in the future.

message 2292: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I like reading about billionaires but I don't like the ones that are similar to Fifty Shades. I think Judith McNaught wrote some good contemporary romance about rich men but those may be outdated for some people. I also really liked Kleypas' Travis series about an oil tycoon family.

I don't understand this trend. If you love an author, why wouldn't you want something new and fresh from them as opposed to the same story through different eyes?

I feel like some readers think this will give them insight to the male mind, forgetting that it's a female writing the male POV.

I agree, Kay. I loved all of JM's books with the rich men. But she has a way of writing emotions that few authors reach.

I feel like I stepped in it. haha! I hope I didn't offend anyone. I haven't read JM's Contemps but I would consider those before 50 shades...

I also haven't read the Crossfire series Angie. I was just worried it was another book like 50, but I know a few friends who loved them.

Yeah, I don't know why authors are doing this male POV, it becomes to much for a whole book. IMO

D.G. Paradise (Second Opportunities, #1) by Judith McNaught is phenomenal.

I haven't read any of those billionaire books - not even Fifty Shades.

message 2299: by D.G. (new)

D.G. I still have to read that one and Perfect (Second Opportunities #2) by Judith McNaught ! If only they were available on ebook! It's so difficult for me to pick up print books these days.

message 2300: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments They're not in ebook - no wonder I haven't read them lol! I'm a huge fan of JM HR books and I was just pissed she stopped writing them, but I really need to read them.
