D.G. Lori McD wrote: "I'm sure someone's asked this, but what's the difference between Young Adult & New Adult? Is it about age or rating like PG-13 vs R?"

Usually YA are in High school and New Adult are usually in college or just out in the work force. So in YA there's pretty much no sex and New Adult has sex.

message 2152: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments The main distinction is the maturity level and sex for me - I was speaking to several librarians who had attended the American Library Association conference which was in chicago this year - and that was their conclusion too. Lol. Because the text and situations read very young - not yet adult and not yet with the responsibilities of adulthood - but there is sex. :)

message 2153: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Thanks for the distinction. I was confused - seems like there's a whole new crop of NA erotica out now, and I couldn't figure out why they went with the NA label. Why make the distinction?

I guess the answer is that they're appealing to the college age range - or at least the 20s. Which makes sense in that, as you've said, most of the protags are in their 20s. So does that put FSOG and the like in that category? Is that why everyone's keeping their billionaires under 30? Sheesh.

Marcella - let's chat more about your thoughts on Deliverance - Hooch's and Matt's story. Inbox me if you don't want to do the spoilers thing. I'm really curious. I didn't like it AT ALL and wasn't happy with paying the $. Now that I have a better understanding that Marquesate is Dan's voice, I think I get why Vadim is so blatantly left out. But to me, the story suffered - big time. And it just didn't seem like the 2 guys I came to know and love in Special Forces.

Lori (lorimcd) BTW, really digging Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard . Wasn't sure when I started the book, but now that I'm just about 30% in, I'm hooked! I'll get to that thread and comment more.

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I accidentally read almost 70% of Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright last night. I was getting ready to crash, and then I picked that up. It was hard to put down!

message 2156: by D.G. (new)

D.G. That book was hot, Angie! Yesterday I got the sequel in audio.

Loved this book too Angie. I was not able to put it down either.

message 2158: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I finished Faking It by Elisa Lorello and it was ok. I thought there would be more steam since the guy is a male escort but it was so very tame...just about fade to black.

I need to read Feral Sins. I probably wouldn't complain about the steam in this one, huh? LOL

message 2159: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Do guys know where I should buy the ebook for Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright so that it will have the "orgy" scene that is cut out of some other editions?

message 2160: by D.G. (last edited Jul 19, 2013 11:22AM) (new)

D.G. I know it was out of the audio. Not sure about the ebook versions.

Stacia mentioned in her review that it was in the author's website. I haven't checked it out because the hero was so possessive that it didn't seem like him to share. But I may check it out once some time has passed!

message 2161: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments Thanks, D.G. I found the deleted scene on her site: http://www.suzannewright.co.uk/page12...

message 2162: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Huh. That scene wasn't in the version I read. It seems like a lot of set up and justification just to be able to include an orgy scene. Personally, I don't buy it from a character perspective.

Courtney | 159 comments About 70% done with Faefever and I've been developing a theory about Barrons and what he is since Book 2. I just can't wait to find out for sure and if I'm right or not.

I didn't buy the orgy either. I was still glad that my copy had it because I wanted to read it out of curiosity, but I didn't find it necessary, considering the way the male was so alpha possessive.

Glad to see some people reading Mr. Perfect so we can chat. I have some quotes to share/discuss that I didn't include in my review but I have limited online time today. We're only home for a short time and have to head back to the hospital again.

Leea | 1437 comments Finally finished Special Forces - Mercenaries Part II (Special Forces, #2 part 2) by Marquesate and I was so let down by this book.

So excited to start Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard tomorrow! I need a good book right now :)

message 2168: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Leea, Mr. Perfect is a great read & probably a good book to distance yourself from the disappointment of Mercenaries.

message 2169: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments Finished Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning which was alright.

Going to start the next one!

message 2172: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Finished Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard - what an awesome book! So glad that it's the July read. I honestly don't think I'd have read the story otherwise, and I'd have missed something really entertaining and well-done.

message 2173: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic Finished Crocodile on the Sandbank (Amelia Peabody #1) by Elizabeth Peters and The Curse of the Pharaohs (Amelia Peabody, #2) by Elizabeth Peters #1 & #2 in the Amelia Peabody mystery series. Fun reads; #2 had a better murder mystery plot.

Am up to chp 9 in Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning and it's ok. Trying not to compare it to Outlander! Not real fond of Hawk but like Adrienne.

message 2174: by Angie Elle, BaBAMB!!! (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments I'm going to be hopping back and forth between Complete Me (Stark Trilogy, #3) by J. Kenner and Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost .

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 696 comments Peggy--I haven't read the KMM books yet, but a few of the members here have told me that the series really picks up with the third or fourth books. Maybe they can encourage you to stick it out!

message 2176: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments @Peggy - yes, do NOT compare KMM's Highlander books to Outlander whatever you do! I've read them all and Angie is right, they get better further in, the first book being the weakest IMO. But I started liking them around #3, I think. It's been awhile.

I'm excited to start Mr. Perfect, after reading the comments here. But I need to finish the books I'm on first.

message 2177: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Peggy, while I really enjoyed the I'M Highlander series, it's very different from Outlander. But IMO, good all on its own.

message 2178: by Peggyzbooksnmusic (new)

Peggyzbooksnmusic @Angie, Lisa & Lori....Thanks for the comments! I should have waited until I'd read further into BTHM as now it's grabbed me! I'm even liking Hawk more although as usual I prefer the Beta male, Grimm!

Looking forward to reading KMM's

Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Am #2 on the library hold list.

message 2179: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments I'm also reading Mr. Perfect and i'm loving it! Just what I needed and I wasn't expecting much so this is a pure treat. I'm at 76%, should finish in the morning.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Didn't Mr. Perfect kind of catch everyone by surprise? The cover for it is so nondescript that you don't really get a feel for the book at all.

Peggy, the Fever series is very different from the Highlanders in writing style, even though it's the same author. You wouldn't know it was the same author if you weren't told that it was. But it's very good.

I think most of us are on the same page with her Highlander series. The first few books are shaky in parts, but books 4 through 6 are great.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Angie wrote: "I'm going to be hopping back and forth between Complete Me (Stark Trilogy, #3) by J. Kenner and Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost."

Have fun with Halfway to the Grave. :)

We've got real life issues going on over here so I haven't time to read this weekend but I am really enjoying Lost In Kakadu by Kendall Talbot - much more than I'd even expected. It's similar to On the Island with an unconventional romance, but has even more really great survival aspects to it.

message 2182: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 159 comments I think I'm going to read An Accidental Goddess by Linnea Sinclair before I continue on with Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning .

message 2183: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Glad you guys are enjoying Mr. Perfect. I always recommend it to people but I'm surprised that almost everybody has liked it (you know how it is with buddy reads...it always happens that some people don't like the book.:)

Another book by Howard that has funny romantic suspense is Open Season by Linda Howard . There's a scene about buying condoms so funny that I almost peed my pants laughing.

message 2184: by D.G. (last edited Jul 21, 2013 05:21AM) (new)

D.G. I'm reading Dark Awakening (Dark Dynasties #1) by Kendra Leigh Castle . I'm really enjoying this take on vampires.

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Lori McD wrote: "Peggy, while I really enjoyed the I'M Highlander series, it's very different from Outlander. But IMO, good all on its own."
Umm Angie - you need to read them now! Start with the fever series - Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning and then sprinkle in (before getting to #5) 4-6 of the highlander series - this is 4 Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning

Stacia says it perfect when she says the first three are shaky. I didnt like the first two in the highlander books. And the series/storyline doesn't begin until 3/4.

message 2186: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Stacia I hope your life issues get better.

I am going camping and gone Monday through Friday - I am hoping to get some reading time! We have no electrical hookup so I will have to charge my Kindle in the car when it dies.

Speaking of On the Island did any of you grab the author's other book from NG Covet by Tracey Garvis-Graves ? Let me know if you want to read it together.

So far so good, Stacia. I love that they are essentially on an even playing field (aside from the physical strength.) They are both cracking me up. I love Bones and his anti-hero status.

Unfortunately Penquin is anti-Angie. I do want to read this when it comes out, though. I can't wait to hear what you think, Regina!

message 2190: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished River Marked (Mercy Thompson, #6) by Patricia Briggs and I think I'm done with the series. Great mythology but in terms of character growth, there just wasn't any for me. I feel its now just - let's have Mercedes have another supernatural adventure.

message 2191: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 667 comments I didn't get approved for Covet either.

I'm finishing up on Feral Sins (The Phoenix Pack, #1) by Suzanne Wright this morning and I love it. PNR is hard for me to get into lately but this book is so good. I have said this in the past... Shifter worlds are so attractive to me especially when done well and this author has done it right. Also, the erotica is balanced just enough with the story.

message 2192: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Tellulah, you should go back and read Alpha & Omega now and then when you are done, read the last Mercy. I don't think you will be disappointed, but you absolutely cannot read Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson, #7) by Patricia Briggs until you have read:

Alpha & Omega (Alpha & Omega, #0.5) by Patricia Briggs Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs Hunting Ground (Alpha & Omega, #2) by Patricia Briggs Fair Game (Alpha & Omega, #3) by Patricia Briggs -- because you went straight through to River Marked, you have had a few spoilers for A&O, but not serious ones. But reading Frost Burned before Fair Game would be a huge spoiler!

Some fans were disappointed with River Marked, I wasn't. I do disagree I saw a lot of character development for Mercy in River Marked and I thought it was a great focus on her and Adam. I loved it. We rarely got just Mercy and Adam time until River Marked. But some fans missed the other characters and missed the action - but like you, liked the mythology. Frost Burned made everyone happy. So I don't think you should stop. :) But - go back to A&O first.

I was done. No really. But then I read your post and I'm like - oh, okay, I should go read this other series and then finish up with Frost Burned. I'm so easy. Just gonna go get a t-shirt saying "I'm a book slut."

message 2196: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments Puta! Puta! Too much? LOL. We are all book sluts here. I am proud to admit it. Ha. The thing with Briggs, is that she writes characterprs and world builds so well. I can see why some fans were unhappy with River Marked -- not me -- but I get it.

A&O starts out with an essential novella which is great. Number 1 and 3 in the series are freaking amazing! Both Leea and I thought #2 was slow, and honestly you don't have to read #2 to go on to #3. Wendy really liked #2. :)

Now reading Fire Horse by Mickie B. Ashling . So far it's okay.
