Leea | 1437 comments I'm almost done with Come Back to Me (Viking & Saxon, #3) by Josie Litton , it's really good and I can't wait to see what happens. I do love how in these books some of the characters have special gifts.

Regina, I may finish tomorrow morning if you want to start Lie Still? I know I keep going back and forth - sorry!

Wendy, I cut that dream loose when I saw him on The Surreal Life. I can't marry a man who is higher maintenance than I am. LOL

D.G. I was a NKOTB fan in the DR! So their awesomeness crossed boundaries.

I haven't listened to a song in years though. Should download some from iTunes. ;)

message 1955: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Now that I understand the world better, I'm really liking Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi . Thankfully, my library has the second book in the series which I just requested.

Why do descriptions have to contain huge spoilers? As I went to request the second book, I couldn't help but to glance at the description and got a huge spoiler in first sentence! WTH??

I love Under the Never Sky and I'm so glad you're enjoying it. The next book is good too as well as the little novella about Roar & Liv.

That's how I was. I had to get past the first hurdle of trying to figure out what was going on, then the book started to become a lot more interesting. I will say that this series is definitely more character-driven than world driven. Normally, I'd complain when the world isn't as complex in sci-fi/dystopia/post-apocalyptic, but the characters were so lovely. I adore Perry (I would mention a scene but I don't know if you're there yet) and think Aria is far less annoying than a lot of other female protags.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) Kay wrote: "I decided to read MacRieve (Immortals After Dark, #13) by Kresley Cole. I just hope it doesn't disappoint me b/c I've seen some mediocre reviews."

I think it's a departure from what we read in Lothaire. As with the other lykae romances, MacRieve's mate is an immortal he despises. (Lachlan hated vampires who kept him captive. Bowen hated witches who hurt his father's family).

MacRieve has an emotional depth and maturity I have seen in other IAD books. I thought it was very good and didn't want to put the book down. You should be fine, as long as you don't expect Lothaire's over-the-top hijinks.

Leea | 1437 comments Reading Lie Still by Julia Heaberlin (with Regina :) and it's good. It always interesting to read a book set in Texas, I can't wait to see how she writes the state.

Might continue on with the Fever series with Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning . Not too sure yet.

Crystal Navarro (kanarenee) Marcella-- Loved it! So heartbreakingly good. I got to the end and my boyfriend was like 'Don't tell me your crying' and all I could say was 'BUT IT WAS SO SAD AND SO BEAUTIFUL'

Thanks, Anna. I am on Chapter 14 right now and I'm loving it! I just love her Lykaes...so yummy! I forget how much I enjoy Cole's writing and humor too...I guess that's b/c we get an IAD book only once a year!

I haven't read The Arcana Chronicles or The Dacians series. Have you read these yet?

message 1969: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) | 1447 comments You *may* continue with the Fever series? LOL! I am not sure if I had a choice to continue it! I felt like I was going to go insane if I didn't keep reading. :D

I am really enjoying Lie Still by Julia Heaberlin -- Leea thanks for kicking me in the butt to start it. :) I might not have!

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) @Kay... I havent read the Dacians or Arcana, yet. Couldn't work up excitement for the spin-off even though I bought the book. I want to try the Arcana series. :)

Courtney, keep going with Fever! I promise book 4 is so worth it!

I've been power-junkieing my way through the Elementals series. Want book 4 now! It makes me realize how happy I am with other series like Fever or VA that I came to them once they were already complete.

I think I'm going to jump to a totally different type of story and read Anonymous Sources by Mary Louise Kelly next because I fear any follow up YA PNR will be pale in comparison to Elementals.

D.G. Finished Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1) by Veronica Rossi and loved it! I'll start Roar and Liv (Under the Never Sky, #0.5) by Veronica Rossi next and if it fits the Bingo shelf, I'll move on to Through the Ever Night (Under the Never Sky, #2) by Veronica Rossi .

Elementals is not similar to Fever but it's a LOT of fun. The books always make me smile. That series was like a breath of fresh air when I first read it because it's so smartly written and not full of annoying characters.

But if you read it at some point, start with the short prequel novella. You'll be happy you did.

Woo hoo D.G. I'm happy you loved it! I wasn't sure if you were going to for some reason. But I'm happy to have another person to share the Perry and Roar love with.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments Leea, I won't be starting Joyland until later this afternoon. I am going to try and buckle down and finish DoBaS first, just so I can quit juggling books.

What is this series like? I keep meaning to start but then I delete it offof my iphone (I have the audio). Would I like it?

Are you in a rush to read the Elemental series, Regina? I'd like to read them, too, but I'm thinking it'll be September before I can get to them.

D.G. Regina wrote: "What is this series like? I keep meaning to start but then I delete it offof my iphone (I have the audio). Would I like it?"

I think you'd like it. It's about a world where a group lives in a dystopia society and escape to a virtual world while another group lives in the wild and have to work really hard to survive. The story has interesting parallels with today's world, I thought...the males characters were great too. The female lead wasn't too bad but I thought she needed a bit more depth. Overall though I really liked it.

Don't know about the audio. I read the book.

Lisa | 383 comments While investigating the Elemental series and adding the first 2 books to my wish list, I read the Kemmerer's blog article, 'Talking to an author'. She sounds like a sweetheart :)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 862 comments She is! She is one of my all-time favorite authors to chat with. She's big on reviewer rights and loves all feedback on her books, even when it's not positive.

I can't be happier for her success because it's well deserved.

message 1990: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments Her ability to juggle family, job AND writing, oh AND keep in touch with her fans, answering emails, etc. - impressive! She must get lots of support from her husband. Or she doesn't require much sleep LOL. Yes, I like what she said about loving to read reviews on her stories, even the negative because it's getting a reaction - that she inspires feelings and that the reviewer takes the time to write about it. Great attitude! Love it.

message 1991: by Leea, Escape Artist (new)

Leea | 1437 comments Started Joyland by Stephen King ... I really like how King tells stories.

Regina, Still reading Lie Still by Julia Heaberlin 33%, (view spoiler) Going to talke a bit of a break for Joyland, but i'll read more in a bit.

Yes, I was very lucky in that respect. All the Fever books had been written. Sorry, if I implied Elementals series was similar. I just meant that I hate the fact that I have to wait for the rest of the series. Wish it was complete too! :)

Oh, Kemmerer's Elemental series...love it! Not to be confused with Estep's Elemental Assassin series or Elizabeth Hunters' Elemental Mysteries or Anya Bast's Elemental Witches or all the other Elemental series out there.

I get them mixed up, too.

message 1995: by Lisa (new)

Lisa | 383 comments @Tellulah - Oh, I meant the wait for the next book in the series being REALLY hard - that similarity between Elemental and Fever series, not the story content. I mean the wait for the final book in the Fever series was torture because of the dang cliffhangers! Yes, it's nice getting into a series that's already complete, for that very reason :D

I read Joyland by Stephen King and really enjoyed it. Makes me want to read more S.King novels. I used to read all his books early in his career but dropped off when I first moved up here to the woods, in the dark, where I got scared more easily. Now I can handle it better. I think. Eek.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) If you're looking for a great investigative reporter murder story Anonymous Sources by Mary Louise Kelly was a fun and fabulous read.

Anna (Bobs Her Hair) Lisa wrote: "@Anna - OMG! I had no idea there were so many Elemental type series out there! Thanks for posting that along with the author's names. Nice!"

Elementals are the new vampire, didn't ya know? heh heh Anne Bishop's new UF Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop has Elementals incorporated into her Others series. There are other Elemental series that I've stumbled across, but Jennifer Estep is the first author(that I know of) that dedicated a series to these particular paranormal beings.

I wonder what's next? Perhaps Nalini Singh will have a spinoff series for rat changlings. There'd be other rodent changlings - chinchillas, hamsters, and gerbils - to spice things up. Of course it would have to take place in a culture that reveres rats. Think it could work?
