Please Introduce Yourself, Let's All Get To Know Each Other
I have either lived or visited many of the State, much of Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy.I am 47 and currently seeking Social Security Disability ---- I have worked either Summer jobs, full and part-time jobs since the age of 13. So being disabled (fibromyalgia, migraines, herniated and missing disks in neck and back . . . from living :) is VERY difficult for me . . . Not only the pain, frustration, sadness, and inability to do what I used to do is a challenge for me to because of my limitations.
I am a single mother of a 19 year old totally amazing daughter.
I love books, puttering, gardening, traveling --- which my disabilities hamper, yet, I do try very hard :), my family and sweet animals.
Nice to meet you.
Hi Angela. I'm SS Disability after working all my life. There seems to be a built in guilt component to disability. It makes me angry when people do the guilt trip thing or call Social Security an "entitlement". I paid into SS all my life (including self employment tax for a while which is double SS).
You know if you're in pain and what you can do. Don't let others get you down.

I'm also on SS Disability. My son tells me it's nice that I have the luxury of not having to work. My remark to him was "Do you consider living in constant pain a luxury?" I would rather be able to work my old part time job. Tomorrow I have more surgery to fix 4 disks in my neck to help to relieve the nerve pain in my left arm. So if you all don't hear from me for a while, that's why. Wish me luck.
Good Luck Paula! I've been told I need to apply but holding off as long as I can! Getting harder tho!

Hi Paula,
I had the neck surgery back in 2003, and had 3 discs removed and a plate and screws put in my neck, to stop the electricity running up and down my arms and legs. I had to leave the gov't after 24 yrs of service. But the surgery was successful, and now I run my own business from home. All the best Paula! Things do get better.

Rob, it is amazing that we are at opposite ends of the world and yet have much in common. I am in finance but support an IT division. I also love some of the same authors - David Baldacci, Tom Clancy, Steve Berry, and James Patterson.
Hello all... and thanks for the invite or letting me join this group. I live in Southern New Jersey about 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I love to travel (thanks to my wife), poker, golf, and writer.I really enjoy a good thriller/suspense/mystery and have read almost all of David Baldacci, James Patterson, Steve Berry, Daniel Silva, Tom Clancy, and Vince Flynn. There are quite a few others I like that I have read also. And as a new author - who knows maybe I will make your list.

Hi all. I live in a small country town just north of Melbourne Australia. I am a mother of 5, stepmother of 1 & grandmother of 2. I work for Child Protection as a Foster Carer. I am a bookaholic, so much so that I can't go one week without buying at least half a dozen books. I buy most of my books from the local charity shop at the moment (recent releases in perfect condition for no more than $3 a book). The authors I currently read a lot of are: Stephen King, Kathy Reichs, Jodi Picoult, Clive Barker & Daniel Silva. My other passions include dressmaking, quilting, baking, cake decorating & cross stitch.

I am 48 and have been on disability for a couple years now. It is so hard to get on so I wish you all the best. I too suffer from migraines, as well as seizures. I don't have any kids, but I don't know what I'd do without my dog!
Welcome to Angela, David and Kyla,
Happy to invite you to my group, and lots of my friends.
We are a friendly lot and give our support to all our members, our books help us all make life more enjoyable, and we as friends hopefully do as well/
Paula, good luck.
Our pets also give us so much love, we love our cats and dogs here.

Welcome to all the new members. Hope all goes well Paula. SS is a small consolation for being in pain everday. I am not on SS but have a loved one who is. People who dont understand, don't have a clue.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone :)Mike when everyone else is watching TV I read. I generally read till stupid o'clock in the morning :)
I do that to. I've always been more of a night person anyway. I always worked jobs that started early, so I got by on like 4 hours a night and then did what they tell you not to...slept in Saturday.:)
Yeah it's a little known state of being that some people seem to be capable of. It's like not thinking or doing anything for a few hours in a row. I'm told it's very refreshing but I've never had much luck achieving it...
Sleep in's, not thinking or doing anything for hours ......... What have I been missing out on lol .......... Much rather be busy, even if at times it is reading a book, makes the day/night go quicker :)
Hi,I am Paige from VA. I love to read Mysteries and Thrillers are my favorite. Some of my favorite authors are Robert Crais, Robin Cook and Stephen King. I spend a lot of my time reading and doing Genealogy Research. Looking forward to being part of this group.

Hello! My name is Michella and I have written two short stories and a novel which can all be seen on Amazon. I am in the works (3/4 of a first draft in) of writing a sci-fi that I can't wait to see as a finished product. I just turned 33 last month and I am now living in Oregon fully enjoying the great outdoors! Thank you to Sean who invited me to join this group :)

Thank you for the welcome everyone. I have my own animal farm, lol. A small Chihuahua and three cats. And most of the time they all do get along. Most of the time.
We live with 2 felines, though in the past there have been more. Xander (note spelling, my daughter was into Buffy the Vampire Slayer), is 17, closing in on 18. We're not really sure of Luna's age. She's been with us about 9 years but she was an adult when she, "took us in".:)
Oh, their pictures are on my profile.
Just added a few more pussy cat pictures on my home page, Mike hope you like them!
