You are SO lucky! I wish I could be Canadian OR British. My healthcare decisions would be much less stressful.
Hello again, I'm Chris. I have been a member here for a while but haven't been here in a few months. I hope you can take me back with open arms :-)
Hi I'm Marcia, Love to read all types of books, but my favourite read is a good thriller. However, probably my favourite book of all time is A Time to Kill by John Grisham. I was made redundant in 2010 and having given up on baking and gardening, I decided to write, and I loved the process of thinking up a plot with twists and turns, leaving clues for the readers so they could guess whodunit, and yet another indie writer was born.
I currently have nine books on my kindle waiting to be read, the housework needs doing, I have two German Shepherds and a Bichon - oh yes and a husband - and the film is never - ever - as good as the book!
Nice to meet you!
Hi I'm Jean. I love a "Great Thriller", pun intended, so this looks like a great place for me to sit, read, and discuss. From reading the threads this seems like a warm friendly group and I'm glad to be aboard.

The name's Anthony Puyo. I love reading, though I'm slow at it. I like many genres, and I really only want one thing with a book I choose; for it to entertain me. I'm a new writer as well, and that's how I write; fast, to the point, with high emphasis on action and the sights and sounds of the setting while making sure the plot, even if done before, brings to life solid characters.
I don't care for awards or any high praise from the mountain top of critics. I only care what the general public thinks because that's who I'm a part of, and that's who I write for.
Books I'm currently reading: Night World by Robert Bloch; good so far. And Something Wicked This Way Comes (Just started).
Hi, Anthony. Your "Welcome to the Family" URL is Cher - Gypsys Tramps And Thieves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOSZw...
Hello, all! I live in the UK, in deepest, darkest Devon which is a beautiful part of the world. I love reading books with an involved plot and lots of intrigue, and as a keen family historian, I like stories where solving the mystery means digging around in the past.
(I'm also a writer of mysteries and they do say to write what you like to read...)
I saw that your list of books, Sean (thanks for the invite), had some of my favourites on it so I reckon this group could suit me well!
Look forward to picking some good recommendations. :-)
Welcome from deepest darkest Devon, Wendy. Tis indeed a beautiful spot. Hope you enjoy the group.
I took a break from social media this weekend and we have so many new members!!!Welcome back Chris!!
Welcome Marcia & Anthony---I look forward to reading your writing.
Welcome Jean & Wendy---I hope you're gonna like it here!!

Hi, Mickey Sandoz here, 50 shortly, or is that just short of 50, whatever, I've spent the last 50 years reading, watching, listening, and now you are gonna have to listen to me. I am writing a series which is available on Amazon, which I am half way through. I have taken a different path at present, and printed the books in script format. Not something that is done very often, and I would love some feedback. The language in the books is colourful, but representative of the characters. I can offer a lot of help regarding self publishing, and can confirm it has been a steep learning curve, from editing, formatting, language, book covers and ISBN's.
My reading over the past 3 years has been limited to developing the plot, or the sports pages of the nearest newspaper
My favourite book. Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman. It got me thinking about time.
My favourite sport. Golf. It's good at wasting a lot of time.
My favourite possession is a timepiece, with a Swiss family name, it has to be really.
Another good book was Longitude, about John Harrison who kick started the timepiece revolution which my distant family played a big part.
Maybe if I can prove to you that time is variable, but not in the way you are thinking, I might even play my part in this time thing....
Hi, Michael Your "Welcome to the Family URL" is The Two Towers Soundtrack-03-The Riders of Rohan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Uuye...
Hi everyone. My name is Cheryl. I live in Scotland (SE of Edinburgh) in a very rural location. I am a Foster carer and I have 2 children at University and 2 teenage foster children at home with me and my husband and my cat. I love books (obviously), music, film and theatre but have too little time to pursue all these usually and with Christmas fast approaching even less time than usual!!!
Bless you for giving Foster care to children who need good parents to help them when they need it most. I think that's a noble and honorable and difficult way to serve others. I'm sure those kids appreciate what you do, or will when they're old enough to realize how much you've sacrificed for them. All the best to you and your family, especially at Christmas time.
Hi, Cheryl. Your "Welcome to the Family" URL is watchmojo.com's Top 10 Frontmen in Rock: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wShy...Glen, your "Welcome to the Family" URL is LOTR The Dawn Battle Theoden's Victory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjBwX... (This is from the 1978 Ralph Bakshi animated version, with Anthony Daniels (C3PO) as the voice of Legolas).
Welcome, Cheryl!!Did you hear Lemn Sissay's essay on foster children? About how all the great characters in literature/fiction were foster children?
Superman, Harry Potter, Lisbeth Salander, Jane Eyre... (of course, you're probably LOADS better at being a foster parent!!)
MJ Colewood here, author of The Last Treasure of Ancient England I am originally from England but have been living in Spain now for over 20 years. Having been through Madrid and old Seville I am presently living in Catalunya in the charming province of Girona, Spain's petit toscana, where I shall be for the foreseeable future. I divide my time between writing fiction and non-fiction as well as teach history. I look forward to getting involved in the discussions and discover some great mysteries along the way.
