Sounds like a place from a Lord Peter Wimsey novel!
Hello all i am Jonathan from the U.K i have recently started reading books since i am on a weight lost program. i am currently reading Girl on the Train, i have loads of books from Claire Mackintosh, peter May to Ian rankin.
Hi everyone, my name is Gaynor and I live in a small town in Wales, within walking distance of a rather wonderful castle.I have been an avid reader ever since childhood, and although I enjoy many genres my favourite is crime / thriller / mysteries. In recent years I have started writing in this genre too. There are so many authors whose work I love to read. I particularly enjoy books by Sophie Hannah, Nicci French and Mark Billingham. I have recently purchased some of Jo Nesbo’s books. I haven’t read any of his work yet so I am looking forward to making a start.
My other interests include travel, and over the years my husband and I have visited some amazing countries. My favourite has to be Iceland as the landscape is so dramatic and the air so clean. Though one of the most awe-inspiring places I have visited was Petra, in Jordan.
Music is also a big part of my life and my tastes are very eclectic. I play and teach the piano, and recently my son has started to teach me to play the cello. I love live performances and apart from many orchestral concerts I have also been fortunate enough to see Meatloaf, Chris Rea, Deborah Harry, The Stranglers, Mary Black . . . Though something tells me you may not be interested in that.
Anyway, getting back to books, I enjoy the work of many other authors too, such as Val McDermid, Stephen Booth, Lee Child, James Patterson – and so the list goes on. I am hoping to expand my horizon by participating in this group and making friends along the way.
Here’s to new discoveries!
Hi Jonathan,I'm hoping to read The Girl on the Train. I'm also thinking of going to see it in the cinema too.
If you enjoy Ian Rankin's Rebus books you may like to try out Stephen Booth's DS Fry and DC Cooper series.
The girl on the Train is a good read i just hope the movie of this will do the book some kind of justice, as for the Ian Rankin i only just found out that the book i have picked up "Even dogs in the Wild is Rankin newish of number 20 of the Rebus series so i need to get his very first one.
I own the book Girl On A Train. So it is a good book? That's a relief 'cause I just bought it. I didn't know there was a movie, too.

He died last year, Cosmos. The pieces from the IN SEARCH OF... series were made way back in the 1970's.

Still better than the damned election cycle, Cosmos. Hell, even the Twitlight Saga, much as I hate to admit it, is better than Trump's campaign!
I've been busy this past week so forgive my tardiness for welcoming our newest members;Athena
Nina
Mark
Jonathan
and
Gaynor
I hope you all will enjoy it here!!
**Nina--I invested in my first Kindle after having my first kid. I could turn pages with one hand while she was breastfeeding!!
Strokes are no fun. That's what my mom said after she had a mini-stroke back my freshman year of college...which was in '96.
It's so hard when that happens. I remember when my dad's cancer got into his brain. I felt so helpless. All you can do is just be there with her. There are so many treatments for stroke these days. Remember having people she loves near her is good for her.
Cosmos wrote: "I'm very upset. My mother is in the hospital. She had a stroke."Cosmos, so sorry to hear about your mother. I hope the doctors are able to help her have a speedy recovery so she can return to the mother you know. I know it's hard, but you have to be strong for her, us mothers worry when our kids worry, even if it's us they are worried about.
