April 2014 - 41/84 = 49%, 43 books unreadApril 2015 - 71/105 = 67%, 34 books unread
April 2016 - 104/142 = 73%, 38 books unread
April 2017 - 141/180 = 78%, 39 books unread
So, in the past year, I've been more or less breaking even in terms of books read vs. books added, though it hasn't always been the current group reads I've read.
Thanks for the reminder, I've been checking on my progress every April. I'm afraid it's going to prove impossible for me to ever read the whole shelf, but it is fun to keep track.
December 4, 2012 - 21/47 = 45%, 26 books unread
April 24, 2014 - 45/84 = 54%, 39 books unread
April 6, 2015 - 66/105 = 63%, 39 books unread
April 4, 2016 - 100/142 = 70%, 42 books unread
April 13, 2017 - 134/180 = 74%, 46 books unread
The completions percentage is steadily increasing, but so is the number of unread books, is this success or failure. Focus, that's what I need.

We're neck and neck Melanti. I'm also at 141/180 and currently reading 3 others I should finish this month. Just hanging around that 80% mark, can't seem to get any higher.
Back in 2015, I set myself a goal of 80% of the groups books and it seemed a trivial goal - only 10 more books, right? Somehow, I didn't really take into account constant new books. Here it is, 2 years later, and I STILL haven't manged to hit that seemingly easy 80% mark yet.
If you read 3 more this month, you'll probably pass me again.
That 80% mark is elusive for me as well. I hover in the high 70% range. It is fun to see how many of the books I can mark off, but I try to remember that the point in reading is NOT to make the list go away. :)
I recently read a wonderful article about Margaret Atwood in the newest addition of The New Yorker magazine. http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/201...I hope you are able to read it. I have a subscription so not sure who can see it. There is another I know is available to everyone about her writing The Handmaid's Tale for audiobooks. http://www.newyorker.com/books/page-t...
The Handmaid's Tale is being released on Hulu on April 26 as a Hulu Original. I am anxious to see it.
There's a lot of people eagerly waiting for the Hulu version. There's some chat about it on this thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I notice that one of the books on our bookshelf is not the default edition, that being Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. It has instead on of the combination novels. The listology shelf has the correct one, that's how I noticed.
Jumped from 44 in November to 47 (rated). I also have at least 5 unrated (different editions or I read it for school and don't recall my thoughts enough to rate it.)So I'll jump my number from 44 to 52.

Just catching up. I've read 46 of the 185, and have another 2 or 3 on my to-read shelf (and on my Kindle) - so I guess I've got quite a few to go. But as I have another 30 or so books outstanding, I may be some time.

I'm at 22,5 at this time, but is there an easy way to check? Now I just went through the list and counted the books that have a rating from me. With friends it's easier to compare.
Maartjie, at least you'll need to count only on the second page of the list: in the right upper corner it should say "You have read x of the top 100 books and y are on your to-read shelf", so the first page is already counted for you.
The list Nente is referring to is here.If you look at it in a desktop browser, it'll count the number of books read on the first page for you, then you just have to manually count the second page.
I didn't actually test it, but there's so many things that the app and mobile site can't do I just assumed this is one.
I'm at 72, and currently reading 3 more.I was able to check through my iPhone when clicking on the link posted. Had to count up page 2, but 1st page was counted in upper right hand corner.
94! That was much higher than I was expecting - and about two dozen are on my tbr list. Then again, this is one of the reasons I joined this group - I want to read and discuss the same kinds of books! :)
in 3 months since last reported, I have added 5:Mrs Dalloway - 5 Star
Invisible Man (Ellison) - 4 Star
Far From The Madding Crowd - 3 Star
Don Quixote - 3 Star
Treasure Island - 4 Star
making Total = 59
I am currently reading 2 more
and I have another 7 planned for next 3 months
so, making progress
when I first checked in March'16 I had read 22 of 136 = 16%
now 59 of 183 = 32%
have only read 25 but... There are a couple like Bell Jar and Breakfast at Tiffany's that I read but don't quite remember well so I didn't count them.

That's great! What a big difference Darren. I'm trying to work on the list too, but haven't checked yet. I joined July of last year, so am going to wait until then to see if I've made any progress :)
I started the group last June and had only read 14 by December 2016 I was at 48 (26%) now I'm at 64 of 183 or 35%. I don't really look at unread books because my goal is to just increase my % . Thanks for the tip on the top corner for the 1st page books Nente and Melanti. Much easier. Mine was off by one (more) for some reason and it didn't include what I'm currently reading. Looked over and over for one I may have accidentally marked as read (which I do occasionally when adding a book to read) but didn't find any. Oh well, 1 is close enough for me.

And some books I know I won't be reading.
Have read 69 and 13 are currently sitting on my shelf. Not as high as I would like, gotta clear my shelves!
You are all impressive people!I am only at 32. I now feel the urge to read more books along with the group. Will see if I can manage, since I try to alternate books written in a different language and because real life imposes a lot of other priorities, but a girl can try, no? :)
Those numbers do add up, even at a slow rate, plus sometimes we'll add new books to the shelf that you've already read. It's nice to alternate your reading between different types of books.
You've read 54 of the top 100 books and 15 are on your to-read shelf. (Is there a way to score the full list and not just the top 100?)
Page two: Read 27, to-read: 12 . Total 81 read out of 186. That could have been a lot worse.
J_BlueFlower wrote: "(Is there a way to score the full list and not just the top 100?) ..."I don't believe so, but that's a respectable total.
31 from Listopia link that Bob posted. Sadly there were many that I had read about 50% + of so I couldn't count them - really must finish!
I've read 87 of them and am currently near the end of House of Mirth for #88. So I've read nearly half of them. I'm in my 60s and some of them I read long ago, others recently. I expect to read 4 more that are now on the shelf in the next 12 months, others are farther down my list (I can't die for a long time, I have too many books left to read!)
I've read 142, currently reading #143, with a few more on deck. For the next couple of months I plan to focus on group reads. Maybe I can get to 150 before the group breaks 200.
Great list! I’ve read around 40-ish or so, but majority of them were during my school days many moons ago so I don’t remember a whole lot from them. There are so many books on the list I would love to read though and quite a few that I need to re-read (some I didn’t mark as READ because it’s been too long so I would prefer to wait until I re-read). Some are actually already on my TBR list. I have too many challenges going on right now and a long list of books to get to this year, but maybe next year I might do a challenge to get to as many of these classics as possible.
The easiest way to get the most current list of this group's former group reads is to click on "bookshelf" in the upper right corner, if you're viewing any group page on the website. That will always be 100% up to date. The group listopia usually isn't too far behind: https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...
Other lists people have been posting lately are just for fun.
