I want to read his complete tales and stories in English. Many years ago when I "discovered" Poe I read all that was translated into Danish. I hope there are some I havn't read yet. Will you read the play too?

If my edition has it, sure. It's called The Complete Tales and Poems, so whether that includes plays remains to be seen.

I've been working my way through the Complete works for a couple of years. I'm still only at 3 of 5 volumes read.
I know my editions had excerpts from the play in the poetry section but it doesn't have the full text.

Not embarrassing at all, Liza--just lots of good reading ahead for you!

Everybody had only read 36 at some point, Liza. I think that still puts you ahead of most of the population. Hopefully this group will help you get around to some of the ones you have missed.

Yep, I agree! We all started somewhere!
I would have had a similar number if I'd tallied my numbers when I first joined Goodreads.

March 2018 98 out of 211 = 46.4% (including Ulysses!)

Congrats! I admire your accomplishment!

12/2017 - 89/208 = 42.78%
3/2018 - 98/214 = 45.79%

making 88/214 = 41%
percentage creeping up, and on course for 100 this year...
Bravo, Darren. I don't seem to be tackling this list right now, but I hope to get to at least some of them before the end of the year.

With a gain of 0.3% per month it will take 11 months before I hit 50%.
Its April again. I've had a good year advancing on the group bookshelf.
December 4, 2012 - 21/47 = 45%, 26 books unread
April 24, 2014 - 45/84 = 54%, 39 books unread
April 6, 2015 - 66/105 = 63%, 39 books unread

You are making great progress! We share some unread books, Bob. Maybe we will get some of them on the reread selections before the end of the year.

51 is very few, but I read more 19th French authors, even if there are some on the Catching up bookshelf.

I am impressed Bob.
I am impressed Bob.

Hitchhiker ‘s is a fantastic audiobook! Stephen Frye narrates

Catch 22: I gave up after about 50 pages. About the third or fourth time the story has a catch 22-situation. The rest seemed to be just more of the same.

If you look at the group list
https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/9...
it should tell you the number (at least on the first page) independent of edition.

Then yes that’s correct! 157

April 2015 - 71/105 = 67%, 34 books unread
April 2016 - 104/142 = 73%, 38 books unread
April 2017 - 141/180 = 78%, 39 books unread
April 2018 - 176/217 = 81.1%, 41 books unread.
I haven't done nearly as badly as I was expecting!
I thought I'd be a lot further behind since I haven't been reading much and the group has picked several books by authors I dislike over the last year. But I've just a couple more unread books than last year, and that's just as easily explained by the fact that I haven't read a single one of next month's selections yet.
80% is awesome. I also have a number of books on the list that I do not intend to read--not fond of the authors or subject matter. I need to check my stats, since I have read a few off the list already this year, but I think it would be static since I have also not read with the group reads lately.

Even better, I'm to the point where merely adding on a new month's selections doesn't drop me below 80%, even if I've not yet read a single one! Yay! (It's a completely arbitrary goal post, I admit.)

I think I'm up to the point where about half of the books I have left are by authors I dislike, or books I attempted to read and just couldn't get into.
I also have unread books I don’t plan of reading. Maybe we should start a list of the group books people don’t plan on ever reading, at least not in this lifetime.
86 out of 217 so far but 10 of them I haven't rated on GR as it was 20 or so years ago that I read them. I plan to reread them and I'm not sure my feelings will be the same as when I was a teenager.

Ha. My list would go on for days.
lol. I would like to see that list, Bob. It would be interesting to see if we are all avoiding the same books.
Lori...I do find that I often re-read books from my early life and either loved it then but can't find the spark now or realize how differently I understand it now that I am older.

Bob...do the Never Ever List. That would be funny.
I must say I'm a bit worried about some of the ones I loved. I reread Little Women/Good Wives and although this was a great favourite when I was young and I read it more than once unfortunately, now I am older I found a bit too preachy and saccharine for my tastes. It has somewhat spoiled the warm memories and good feelings I had about it.

Re-reading childhood favorites has been a risky proposition in my experience. There's been a couple that I've seriously regretted re-reading.
I've had the same experience. Anne of Green Gables was that way for me. I still liked it, but it wasn't what I had remembered and I felt I had destroyed something precious.

Years of reading (maybe, I'm generalizing here) of dedicated thrillers will do that.
