message 262: by Penney (last edited Sep 29, 2012 07:06AM) (new)

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Ok Jim, I've finally made some choices. I tried hard to stick to the 'One per category' rule, but I also had to make picks from that very random, very large pile of books that you own but only periodically delve into. So here it goes...

Spring
1. Spring Cleaning: Once Burned ~ Hellooooo, it's Vlad, nuf said. Or take Passion Unleashed out of that pile.
2. Season of Rebirth: I feel like whenever there's a "New To You" category I'm always trying to shove m/m down your throat (hmmm), so here we go with another attempt ~ Warrior's Cross, I liked this one and its not erotica so you won't be bombarded by images you might not want to fall asleep with :)
I also noticed a historical in that pile of yours, by one of your favorite authors no less ~ Just Imagine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips
Once Burned (Night Prince, #1) by Jeaniene FrostPassion Unleashed (Demonica, #3) by Larissa IoneWarrior's Cross by Abigail RouxJust Imagine by Susan Elizabeth Phillips

Summer
3. Summer flings:
I like Kristan Higgins and noticed her in your pile so you might like to try My One and Only
4. Beach Reads: Seeing as how, among many things, you're also a gaming nerd, I think you might enjoy How to Tell a Lie. It was funny and sexy with clever, witty banter between the H and h.
My One and Only by Kristan HigginsHow to Tell a Lie (Truth and Lies, #1) by Delphine Dryden

Autumn
5. Sports Season:
Hockey, one from me and one from you... Scoring Lacey and Fair Play {{Mine's probably better}}
6. TV Seasons: Eternal Seduction ~ A new series for me as well, I liked this first installment. If you wanna talk flawed characters, how about a heroine who's a homeless drug addict? (A heroine addicted to heroine, hehe)
Scoring Lacey by Jenna HowardFair Play (New York Blades, #2) by Deirdre MartinEternal Seduction (A Darkness Within Novel, #1) by Jennifer Turner

Winter
7. Cozy Winter:
Midnight Man ~ I read this about two years ago and I still remember it well and fondly. That's how I know it's a good one. Super hot first sex scene btw.
8. Pass It On : Hearts in Darkness ~ I don't remember who recommended this one, but its one of my fav reads of the year. I don't usually enjoy short stories because they rarely feel fully developed, but this author did a great job.
Midnight Man (Midnight, #1) by Lisa Marie Rice Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye

I hope you find something in here you'll like. Happy Reading!

I have never done a buddy read before, so you would have to explain to me what that is and how it works but I would certainly do it if you have time!"

I have done a buddy read where my partner started a new thread, and also where we just did private messages to each other. Unless there are others that would like to join, I would suggested we just message each other to discuss it if that works for you. I am happy to read the book any time after Monday (up to three weeks from yesterday when it's due back!). Just let me know.

Ty | 1943 comments Hi Nikki! Good to see another Georgia girl - I grew up in Savannah. Great fun going through your TBR. I gave a couple of choices for you in most of the categories so hopefully you'll find something you like. Enjoy!

Spring
1. Spring Cleaning:

Creed - Kristen Ashley - just released - would love to do a buddy read with this!
Playing to Win - Jaci Burton - these covers are hot! I noticed you enjoyed the previous 3 in the series. Keep going!
2. Season of Rebirth:
The Duke And I - Julia Quinn - we have a lot of the same genres in common, but I noticed you don't have a lot of historical romances. This one is pretty good recent classic.
The Iron Duke - Meljean Brooks - I'm fascinated by steampunk and loved the world building in this book.

Summer
3. Summer flings:

In Bed with a Highlander - Maya Banks - both on our TBR, also available for buddy read. I love highlander stories.
Samson's Lovely Mortal - Tina Folson - I've been eager to start this series but something else always distracts me. Maybe you could inspire me :)
4. Beach Reads:
First Grave on the Right - Darynda Jones. One of my favorites this year. The heroine's snarkfest and sarcastic one-liners had me laughing.
Perfect Cover - Jennifer Lynn Barnes - absolute escapist fiction - high school cheerleading squad as a front for a clandestine spy group. bootilicious, bombs, and boy crazy.

Autumn
5. Sports Season:

Flat-Out Sexy - Erin McCarthy - this book has definitely been buzz-worth lately.
The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins - You might have heard of this one :) A great read!
6. TV Seasons:
Angels' Blood - Nalini Singh - if I had to pick a PNR book to take to a deserted island, this would be it.
Halfway to the Grave - Jeaniene Frost - I see Once Burned on your TBR but no Cat and Bones. Start with the infamous couple who started it all!

Winter
7. Cozy Winter:

Years - LaVyrle Spencer - or pretty much anything LaVyrle Spencer. I keep coming back to this book - the comfort soup for my soul.
8. Pass It On :
Pushing the Limits - Katie McGarry - This was recommended to me in last month's PIFM by the awesome Irina. It was SO GOOD. Like, Ugly Cry Good. Seriously, you really need to get you some kleenex.

Happy anniversary! And thanks for the picks. There are quite a few that I want to read, but I think I will start of with It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips . Hopefully I will also be able to get a hold of In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks and Wicked Nights (Angels of the Dark, #1) by Gena Showalter as well. I'm excited to start reading.

message 296: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Hi Tania! Here are your picks. I had a good time looking through your shelves. Hope you find something you want to read this month, but if you don't let me know and I can pick some new things.

Spring:
1. Spring Cleaning: Midnight Rising by Lara Adrian. You have rated the first 3 books in this series highly, so perhaps you will enjoy the next entry in the series as well. Or, you have had The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks on your TBR shelf since 2010.
2. Season of Rebirth: Jasper Fforde is one of my favorite authors and I didn't see him anywhere on your shelves. The Eyre Affair is a great place to start with his books and is the beginning of a really fun series.

Summer:
3. Summer Flings: I like the cover of Soulless quite a bit, and it sounds like a good read too.
4. Beach Reads: I haven't gotten this far in the series yet, but if The Dragon Who Loved Me by G.A. Aiken is as fun as the previous books in the series, this should be tons of fun as well.

Autumn:
5. Sports Season: The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton
6. TV Seasons: You enjoyed Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, so you may like Cry Wolf as well. It's a definite favorite of mine. And you also enjoyed the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I have only read the first book in the Edge series, On the Edge, but I liked it very much.

Winter:
7. Cozy Winter: I really enjoyed Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison, a great read. Or perhaps Open Season by Linda Howard, another favorite of mine.
8. Pass it On: Both Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch and Bunny and the Bear by Eve Langlais were recommended to me in previous PIFM challenges and I loved both.

Midnight Rising (Midnight Breed, #4) by Lara Adrian The Darkest Hour (KGI, #1) by Maya Banks The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next #1) by Jasper Fforde Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger The Dragon Who Loved Me (Dragon Kin, #5) by G.A. Aiken The Perfect Play (Play by Play, #1) by Jaci Burton Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison Open Season by Linda Howard Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #1) by Gini Koch Bunny and the Bear (Furry United Coalition, #1) by Eve Langlais
