I think it is fine to ask someone to add it and to ask your friend, fans, etc to vote on it! I don't think anyone should pay people to vote (via a giveaway) but there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying that you have a release this month and would love people to consider it.

No offence, but many librarians, if not you, think otherwise. But, as they say, each to his own.
