7638 About to enter a hard crazy week...Kasia will be having surgery on Thursday, and we are planning a low key Christmas break for healing and recovery. Thoughts and prayers during these next few weeks are much appreciated.
7638 Tasha, I think it probably is a mood thing, but I didn't care for it. I could tell it was a good book, just not one I cared for.

Love this idea, Loretta. I'm terrible at sticking to the lists.

7638 In the past few days I've added 6 books to my nook and kindle. I think I may have a problem.

7638 It was a Bee Book when I joined the group - never did read it. :)

7638 I saw the movie eons ago…I'm not a fan of Tobey McGuire, so that wasn't too enticing for me. But I do love some of Irving's stuff, and have never disliked any.

7638 Apples and oranges. SK was trying a different genre with Joyland. It's not the same, or as good as this one.

7638 I don't think you necessary get any more from it, more just recognizing themes, characters...um, so yeah, you may get more. :)

7638 I loved the contrast of time periods with these two. I was born in the 70's, and remember the big cars, phones with cords...the vibe of that period really resonated. And then I loved Dr. Sleep and the current setting. It's really kind of boggling how different the word is in 35 years, and that an author can bridge that with appropriate pop culture references etc at both stages of his career. SK is a genius.

7638 I am giving this one back to the library. For me it's too much angsty drama. I like the add ins more than I like the story or prose.

7638 Loved this amazing work by SK. You don't need to read The Shining first, but I enjoyed reading them back to back. Excited for more bees to get into it!
7638 I too really liked this one. I thought the characters believable and the storyline realistic as well. I'm looking forward to more on the series.
