7638 So today was the first day back at school...and the school called me at about 1:00 to come and get my daughter. :( Her tummy hurt. This has to stop - I think that kindergarten is a little too young to be playing hooky, which is what this is feeling like. I know she doesn't love school, but we've done what we can, she has friends in the class...hmmph.

7638 Tara - I used to LOVE "Charmed". My husband called it the "Pretty girl show".

7638 I agree, Loretta. I've had a blast with this thread. It reminds me of college and the online boards we had. :)

7638 TEEHEE!!!!!!!!

Seriously, when you all read the book (which IS good, so you should read it) you will understand.

and it's sooooo fun to laugh at what irritated me only a few days ago!

It was inspired by the book.

7638 Just saw on the Kindle site that there's a feature to "Lend" some of the books!

7638 At least it isn't a June wedding - photographers can't be *that* busy this time of the year, right?

7638 Did everyone recover from the plague? I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

7638 ...and I hope for a winning lottery ticket! :P Amy, if your house is anything like mine the chances are pretty close to the same for Mom getting to rest and recoup with the same amount of nursing/pampering as you provide!

Feel better!

(I finished my first book from you yesterday - I gave Still Alice 5 stars! THANK YOU!)

7638 I agree he's a great story-teller. There are flaws, but he tells an interesting story, plus gets all the art history discussion incorporated in a way I found really interesting.

I'm sure that getting noticed by a publisher is what he's hoping for in getting this one out there. I agree fully - there is a fundamental immaturity in nearly all of the characters. It would be really fun to read this after a good editor has gotten ahold of it.

7638 It has to be 5 stars if I can't put it down and must finish in a day. It was GREAT.

7638 We only got about 5 inches, but had about 20 hours of winds from 25 - 45 mph, so the drivting and blowing was what we had to contend with.

Yesterday was delightful. After pulling down Christmas decorations and a little cleaning I started Still Alice and read most of the afternoon and evening, and finished it last night. I gave it 5 stars - great book.

I started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland today, and will have to decide what else I want to dive into. I'm feeling ambitious this year!

7638 Kasia thinks Kanani is beautiful...we will see. :) But that's really pretty perfect for you guys! You're going to love her clothes and accessories.

7638 Inconceivable! (you use that word so much, but I'm not really sure you know what it means.)

WAY too much smirking. And it's not in the right places. He needs to find a new word for "big-wigs" too.

Keep reading...Garrett will explain.

7638 True, but if he really wants to improve the story, it may be helpful as well.

(I probably would have tempered my rant on "smirk" though...)

7638 I got the American Girl email today - Hawaiian girl named Kanani. :) I thought of you right away.

7638 I think how the author interacts with our group is largely up to Stephanie. Obviously it's a private group, so he can't peruse our discussions, but if she wanted to let him join she could. Otherwise as we go we could certainly generate a "Questions/Comments For the Author" thread and leave it open for a certain amount of time then I'll send it to him.

As you keep going, he DOES deal with the paradox. :) And unfortunately the relationships all stay fairly juvenile. However, the story is very interesting and the way that the art is dealt with is really interesting.

7638 M. Clifford has replied to my message - he's excited that his book has been chosen for a group read, and is willing to answer questions, etc. :)

7638 Mike and I just watched Inception...hour and a half until midnight. Doubt we'll make it. The storm was so bad they actually cancelled the city's NYE celebration. That's never happened before.
