It's already 9pm here which is already too late for me to start reading more stuff. So I'm going to skip reading it today, it'll make me even more behind on the reading but I really don't care. I'll try reading something else, maybe it'll bring me back a bit of will to read.

I thought I'll be able to catch up to today's chapters, but I guess not. Also, even though the story is interesting, I'm not finding it that enjoyable. The magic system is the best thing in it the book.

I don't care about any of the characters. I'm rooting a bit for Fie and Tavin. I remember liking it the first time I read it, but also I don't care much about it.

😂😂 @Yeganeh Maybe you thought Jas and Fie will be together because they despised each other at the beginning and that's a common trope, plus the prince and the MC ending together is also a cliche. I actually like that it's the bodyguard and not the prince that get's the girl.. or at least it looks like he'll get the girl.

Chapter 5-8

Gosh, Jas.. I remember his attitude that I didn't like when I first read the book, and what a surprise I still don't like it. But I liked that he and Fie had one or two conversations, and even though he's ignorant about anything outside of the palace, I think and hope they bond and become friends.

So the teeth thing.. A tooth has limited power and it runs out, right? That's why they take teeth, and carry a bunch with them. That would make the special teeth extra rare.. like how to you know to use them, that it's worth wasting it.

Finished it... and I wish I didn't decide do jump into this BR and read it. Not because of the buddies, I enjoyed discussing with you, but the book gosh.. If nothing else, the end twist was a little surprising, I did not expect there to be some other planet in the play.

Okay... I can do this.. I can do it. It's only 100 pages of my life, only 1.5h that I'll waste.. I can do this.

I didn't read the explanation, since you mentioned it I'll give it a look if I don't forget.
But definitely will give her other books a shot.

I finally started it, probably won't catch up to today's chapters because it's already late here, but I'm going to try to read the 1st day ones.
This is a reread for me... but since I don't remember a thing it may even be a normal read 😂

So... chapters 1-4
🤣 Fie punched the dude.. I mean if that isn't the best meet I don't know.
I agree, the castes are an interesting thing. Other than that.. it's too soon to say anything.

Ooooooh.. I never registered that the Kemen that was connected to Ventillas was a guy 😯 I'm surprised.

I just finished chapter 26 and OMG the TWIST. I got so comfortable with this book not expecting much, and boom 🤯 Things just got more interesting.

Chapter 27.. Oh no, he was left to relive his captivity days, and even though Lena returned it feels like a betrayal.. and I'm guilty, but I'm like yeeees, be angry at her 😅 she left you...

Finished it.. And I have to say, even though I enjoyed it, I find that it was lacking something. It needed more. I feel like one book is too little to tell a fantasy story, especially since this book gave me more serious fantasy vibes, there should've been more exploration of every story line we had that was woven into this story. Jehan's rage and revenge was understandable and a good story line, however I felt that it wasn't more deeply explored as it should've been.

edit: Oh, and the ghosts thing.. I'm disappointed that hasn't been explored and used more.

I'm back to reading this.. after the disappointment of Iron Widow I need something to lift me up a bit.

Chapter 11-13
After the part about Mari being a good archer, and then getting infected and left... yeah, I'm still suspecting her.

“Did you know Lord Amador’s greatgreat-grandfather died in a rice barrel?”
Cas only looked at her.
“It’s true,” she insisted. “His middle son hit him on the head during an argument and then buried him under the rice until he suffocated.”
“I . . . How do you know this?”
“It was in a book I read.” Lena gave the rice one last poke before returning the scoop to its hook. “I wonder how long it would have taken.”

Omg 😂 this random bit of info.. and how she's still interested in it. Love it.

Okay, we are back.. there's a mystery woman that is our archer.

Oh, great Yizhi is back in the story again.. 😂 I feel none of the feelings she's having for him, it's there just to be there.
Is Yizhi in a mob? Because showing his tattoos and saying it's part of his father's family sure sounds like it.

This whole war is a joke. I know she doesn't really care about it but... killing someone that is fighting on your side is just.. the things will overpower you. But, also now that I think of it, we weren't really made aware of the amount of danger.

I finished chapter 28, and... I'm figuring that this is not a book for me, I'm not enjoying it that much. I wish I could finish it now, but just thinking of listening to more of it today is making me do anything else. It has potential, but it's not well done, at least not for my liking.

Naaah 😂 megazoids, or even better the evil things/persons the PR had to fight are much better to imagine.

Yeah, I watched Pacific Rim, I did have to google how things looked because I forgot 😅 what a surprise, but that's kinda cool.. I think that'll actually make me think of the book a liiiiiittle bit more serious.

The possibility of there being more Iron widows or that there were is better, then she's not THAT special, although she still kinda is, at least where I'm at, so maybe later that'll change.

I want to say that if nothing else I like the message/reality it's weaving into the story. About women and how they are treated, and what happens to them while some think that's just "the way it is". So maybe I'm not enjoying enjoying the story, but I like that part, and that she's fighting for the other girls that are stuck in that position and are weaker than her. I hope that part gets worked more on it.

I'm gonna google lotus feet... not to be left out 😂 Although, it sounds horrifying and I probably don't need to see that 😅

edit: I was right... I did not have to see that.. I wasn't sure what I was expecting seeing, but not this. I'm shocked. I'm even shocked what kind a thing was a thing in the older days.

Finally I started seriously reading the book.
The hell had her family did to her feet? What? I'm just... shocked.

Chapter 7.

Sonofabitch.. he's using the same lines one every one of them. I mean there could be a small chance that he wasn't the one that killed her sister, but doing everything the same with every girl... suspicious.
Oh, okay, so he is a scumbag.

Chapter 8.

:O Well damn... I thought it'll take more time for this to happen. I now wonder what'll happen in the rest of the book.

End of chapter 13 thoughts

Things are getting more interesting, and she's so fucking crazy that makes it even better.. however, I'm having a problem with the things going too fast, at least it looks too fast for me. One moment she's the strongest of the picked girls, but still a lot weaker than the Revenge guy.. but the same day/evening she manages to destroy him because she's stronger than him and kills him.

Like, okay... Since I don't think I even read the synopsis of the book.. from the beginning I assumed her mission, that would be the endgame for this book, is getting revenge for her sister so when that happened so fast I was shocked and disappointed. But okay, she's going for bigger things, still think that the revenge should've taken more time but okay..

So now moving to the Li guy. They join for a battle 2 weeks after the Revenge dude's death, right? He's the strongest, but somehow, she that somehow became stronger than what she was told in the first assessment, ends up being even more stronger than that and she's kinda matching with him on the strength? after only 2 weeks her power sky rocketed? Just... to fast.

Oh, and plus she may be a fox spirit... which I assume is even rarer. So..yeah, the special snow flake is not working for me. Besides that complaint, I'm okay with the book. From the looks it won't be something that I enjoyed a lot, but something with potential.

P.S. Does anyone else see these things they are fighting in as Power Ranger's Megazords? 😂 I just can't see them as anything else.
