749599 @Em nahh, if I really want it I can screen shot it, but thanks either way.
749599 Is it just me or that apology was.. weak? I mean I'm glad she's back on good terms with her friends but.. too easy.

The Jake thoughts make me uncomfortable. Especially her imagination when he asked her if she needed a lift to see the mirror. If this was any other ya contemporary I think I would've been okay with it but here.. no.

I like that Shoshanna has these amazing ideas how to get more customers. I think that's the thing I like most about her, other wise she doesn't really stand out to me.

I'm stopping in the middle of chapter 13 for now, but I'll finish it later and post my thoughts.
749599 I wouldn't have minded a pretty picture of the world 😂 The glossary was good, but I have to say I remembered very little from it, I don't remember any names. Plus, it was a bit disorganized I would've liked all the element magic people to be in one place, and also the schooling year 1 was on one page, and then the rest was on the next, or the page after that. So I like that the author is still explaining things while writing the story because I have an ebook and going back to the glossary wouldn't be as convenient.
749599 True about cringing about past stuff, I guess I've gotten used to other contemporaries with characters that are more mature.

Yes, I thought the guy's boss will catch them, and then he'll lose his job.
749599 Oh, I hope everything turns out good.

I read today's set of chapters, and they went by fast.

I agree with the home and money problems, it's understandable but she's acting childish. The Jake thoughts.. made me a bit uncomfortable, especially because I don't feel like this is classic ya as we said.

Her having a surprise for her moms was cute, but it backfired..
And the moment she decided to upload the friends video I knew that's where shit is going to happen... and I was right. It was with good intentions but it wasn't thought through.
749599 I didn't start it yesterday, so I'll try to catch up, or at least to catch up as much as I can.

I don't like the fact that we don't have a map. Maps are a great way to show a kingdom and better explain land. Even thought I read the glossary I have no idea who can do what, and what means what so the fact that we have that but not the map annoys me a bit more. Hopefully I'll figure out what means what as I read.

I read yesterday's chapters for now.. I don't have much to say. I like that it's an army/assassins asian book, but other than that I don't care much for it.
749599 I'm surprised, but at the same time not really, that this is not really a YA or at least it doesn't feel like YA for me. It's more for younger... young adults 😅 I guess I'll see how that goes because last month I read something that was giving me the same vibes and it was okay, but I wasn't much impressed with it.

So what are your thoughts on Shoshanna and her telling everyone in the store that Jake doesn't like books?
For me it was a bit too much. I understand that she's a book lover and that she's working at place she loves, but it was judgy how she acted because he's not a reader. I mean okay, he's not a reader and maybe the bookstore job would've fit much better for someone else, BUT people need jobs nevertheless, and a lot of people are working jobs they don't love so... On the other hand Jake was acting like a jerk.

Not getting her coffee the way she likes, but getting himself the perfect cup was a douche move, but her response to it - throwing the coffee - was so childish. And here was I thinking they are semi starting to have a normal coworker relationship.

Oh-oh, I kinda have a bad feeling about the video. I mean it can be nothing, but...
749599 Yeah, the DARPA part extended the plot and on one hand it was interesting all the fucking everything up, but it got a bit too much and boring... and as we agree it didn't fit very well with the first part of the book.

749599 :O I haven't noticed the spider on the cover
749599 Ready! :D

Oh, really? I didn't know that.
749599 The rest of the thoughts.
I'm currently on part 5, and man if they don't fix the memory dump everyone is experiencing when the timelines align everyone is going to die from shock or just their brain is going to collapse from so many different memories/realities.

And here we thought that the agency plot doesn't bring much to the table 😂 But even though things are connected obviously, I feel like I'm reading a different story than the one I started. How about you?

I finished it. And even thought it was a brain scrambler 😂 I enjoyed it a lot.
749599 Right? Darce and I were talking how nothing discussion worthy was happening, so we are not the only ones with that... Maybe this story is not one of those that that follows a character on two different-ish stories, but one story told in two books. Because even though it was an easy and enjoyable read it didn't bring much to the table.
749599 Oh, yes the spoiler I forgot to read that.

1. It wasn't? I thought it was, and now I'm trying to remember. Didn't she approach him after they busted Slade's operation, and asked about the chair and he told her about the other agency or whatever it is that came and took it, and is probably trying to reverse engineer it to make it functional.

2. It all is confusing. First I wanted to say, well the building appeared and then the memories came because the memories come after the specific time the timeline is changed... BUT 🤔 you are right.. If the architect had been sent in the past and made his building as he obviously did, then the building would've been there because it was built then or maybe before Barry's time of going back.. and everyone then would get the memories of it NOT existing.

Maybe Crouch got confused with it all 😂 I don't know.

3. Maybe not but I don't know.. I guess we'll see how things play out by the end.
749599 Just ended part 2.. things are getting more and more interesting. If time is still changing that means that Slade made the chair again. I'm curious how Barry and Helena are going to stop him.

Part 3.. wow, so many going back to the past moments. I'm wondering what Slade meant when he said Helena hasn't traveled like he has.

I said I'll catch up and read part 4 too, but I'm not feeling much like reading today, so I finished part 3 and stopped. But since tomorrow is part 5, and with that the last day of reading, I'm just going to finish it all tomorrow.

I know you said you read Dark Matter, but have you read anything else by Crouch?
I read Wayward Pines the first book, and I remember liking it, but I'll have to reread it so that I can read the other two books in the trilogy. Either way, I think Crouch is going to be my easy sci-fi author because he has some mind blowing ideas and tells amazing stories, and the books even with a complex idea are written in a easy and fast to read way.
749599 I had around 60 pages left since yesterday so I decided to finish the book today. I enjoyed it. How are you guys doing, any thoughts?

(view spoiler)
749599 The moment she said she knows how to get the coin from Saint I knew what her plan is. And yeah it was a low blow, but I can't decide if either way she should've done it because that way she's taking care of herself in the cruel world or.. not.

749599 M7 updated

Do I need to write what I finished or just that there was an update?
749599 I finally picked up the book. I didn't catch up to today's chapters, but I read the first three.

I don't remember if I read the synopsis for the book or if maybe it was an auto-click when I saw it's by Maniscalco, either way I didn't know much (close to nothing) about the book except that there's Wrath *shrugs*. So I'm pleasantly surprised we have witches and princes' of hell. I'm loving the family vibe.
