When does the challenge end? I've lost track.

I recently read Mammoth at the gates which has animals on the cover, which you could consider related to livestock. It's currently being used in the spell it out if you wanted to move it.

sorry I'm behind on finishing my book for the wheel. my library is having their annual book sale fundraiser and I'm on the committee so I've been swamped setting up for that. Sale is tomorrow so then things will ease up for me.

I'm struggling with The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. I'm 30% in and don't like the main character at all. She's neurotic, immature, and an alcoholic. I don't mind evil MCs, or morally gray MCs, but I struggle with MCs who create their own drama and then whine about it. I'm thinking of DNF'ing. Has anyone read this and can advise me if I should carry on? Are the twists/reveals worth it?

Total Books on TBR as of 8/1/24: 608
2017: 13
2018:..."Welcome! It's never too late to join. I love how you've separated your books and goals. I just started at the oldest and am working my way to newest, but that hard because I naturally want to read newer titles first.

Most Ardently has plants on the cover if you want to move it from the spell-it-out wheel.
And the book I'm currently reading, Out of the Drowning Deep, has green text on the cover. Unfortunately, I don't think it has quite enough green to count for the 50% one.

We're getting so close to spinning both wheels! :D
I should finish Mammoth at the Gates today. It's #4 in a series so wasn't sure if you wanted to save that. Alternatively, the author is Vo, and I wasn't sure if V is a difficult letter to find? Anyway, I currently don't have it slotted anywhere so you can choose.

I just finished Most Ardently, which has author's first and last initials in GENERAL ELECTRONICS, if you want to use it there. I've put it into the spell wheel in the meantime.

Captains - I noticed that some books are getting finished, but there isn't any room to put them onto the spell-it-out page. Would it be easier to not assign a book to a letter until the book is completed?

What did you think of Funny Story? I'm not a huge Emily Henry fan. My favorite was Book Lovers - I DNF'd Happy Place. Just trying to provide context. ;)

I finished Pachinko if you want to add it to the "save" pile.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
The Murderbot series
Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
A Dowry of Blood by ST Gibson
those are my audio favorites

the MC is Korean but ends up in Japan. It takes place in both co..."Yes, unfortunately, it only starts out in Korea but very quickly it moves to Japan and primarily takes place there. So it's not close to 50% in Korea unfortunately.
A Magical Girl Retires is set in South Korea and is really interesting (and short). I read it in May unfortunately but thought someone else might want to use it for the mini.
Also, I'm currently reading Pachinko which takes place in Japan. I thought you might want to save it for if we get District 1 in another spin? I've put a note on it.

Question - shocker, I know.
Can we use one title for both a wheel task and an arena hazard?

Yay! I love mini challenges. :)

Finished #6:
The Vanishing Half
3 stars - It was just okay. I thought it was a really easy read - listened to it on audio and narration was good. I just didn't really understand the point.
One twin breaks all ties in order to live a life passing as white. The author never really explains to us why she felt she had to abandon her twin sister and mother since they both could have passed for white also.
Stella seems unhappy and lonely, which she didn't need to be. Her daughter is a typical, purposeless rich kid, and we didn't really get much more. Jude's story was the most interesting, but even then, not a lot happens.

Finished #5:
The Great Alone
Been on my TBR since 2019, and am actually bummed I waited so long. I loved it!

I've got four titles that start with You on my TBR:
You're My Home
Young Mungo
You Should Be So Lucky
You Can Count on Me
Unfortunately, none of these provide great options for the other team.

I got nothin, sorry! I keep trying to find a book I can take on, but still waiting for something that's actually on my 300+ tbr. lol
