Also, what's the difference between the team spreadsheet and the tracking spreadsheet? I opened them both and they seem the same??

My name is Tricia (she/her), I'm 53yrs old and live in the suburbs of Seattle. Married for almost 30 years to my lovely husband, and have three kids (ages 18 to 24).
I had way too much time on my hands once my youngest went to college last fall (although the middle one is back and still giving me gray hairs) so I've recently started volunteering for my local library and just got a part time job at a local indie bookstore.
I played Tower Teams last summer with Judith and I think Lexi (right??) and absolutely loved it. My favorite genres are MM romance, regular romance, graphic novels, mainstream fiction, and paranormal/scifi/light fantasy, and some light gothic/horror/thrillers. I read a bit of nonfiction as well, and some literary fiction, but I prefer my books on the short and fast side. I typically have three books on the go - one audio, one in paper, and one on the kindle, so I can read in any scenario.
Nice to meet you all! :)

The Merchant of Death by DJ MacHale? Of course The Starless Sea, but I'm assuming you've read it. I can't think of any others that start with the bottom half of the alphabet.

Let's do 24 in 24!
203 I Think We've Been Here Before: A Novel
133 An Illusion of Thieves
208 Die Schule der fünf Türme
228 [book..."
I love the idea of 24 for 24!! I'm stealing it. :D

I really enjoyed this! The audio was well done and moved quickly. It tells the story..."
I totally get that. I've been thinking about this a lot since American Dirt came out and where I've landed is that I appreciate any author who tells a great story. I certainly don't consider any fiction book to be entirely factual, and I think that authors who write from their own experiences are going to give me something more accurate, so I do pay attention to that when reading.
If Kline were Australian or Indigenous, I think I would credit her with that unique perspective and think differently about the story. I don't plan to use it for any challenges that mention Indigenous stories or perspectives because I don't believe Kline can speak to that personally and I actually thought that part of the story was the weakest. But overall I enjoyed the book very much.
It's a little like saying men shouldn't write women characters. We can probably all agree that in most cases, men really don't understand what it truly means to be a woman in our society, the way our sense of identity and security is affected by the men around us, etc. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate a male author who writes a great story with a woman MC. I will just always know that he's writing fiction - he hasn't lived it. I'm not sure if I'm expressing myself well. Sorry.

I really enjoyed this! The audio was well done and moved quickly. It tells the story of 3 women who are affected by different aspects of the British colonizing of Australia. It was a pretty short book considering how many stories it was telling and I really appreciated that. It moved fast and I was never bored. 4 stars!

I read the first Infernal Devices and wasn't impressed. Felt very teen melodrama so I didn't read the second. But I really wanted to know what the Mortal Instruments is about since it's so popular, so I picked up the Graphic Novel series. It's really well done - picks out the relevant parts of the story, well drawn, and so much faster so we get to all the predictable twists much quicker. Highly recommend it as a way to have read her series without reading her series.

I liked it somewhat. I was expecting nonfiction based on the cover, and so was surprised to find it was historical fiction. I thought it lagged a bit and was pretty predictable, but it was entertaining at times. I gave it 3 stars.
I also removed 3 titles from my list:
American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America - I had heard about a book that discussed the different native tribes from the areas that would eventually become North America and thought this was it, but it wasn't. So I removed it.
Here Lies Daniel Tate - The summary just didn't grab me - it sounds super predictable. I could be persuaded to reconsider.
American Demon - I loved Kim Harrison's Hollow series and read all 13 of them. I discovered in 2019 that she started writing new ones, and added them to my TBR but after starting this book, I realized I wasn't interested anymore. I'm happy with where the story ended after book 13.
