35559 When does the month officially roll over?
Jun 16, 2025 04:59PM

35559 I don't think I'm going to finish my last book by the deadline so I'll let it roll over and put one of my reserve books (What the Woods Took) in instead so we get those points. :) It works perfectly for forest on the cover so bonus.

I should have Things We Never Got Over in the next day or two.

35559 I'm working my way through Things We Never Got Over and will have it done before the 17th. It's the last book to get me to my cap, and I'm putting all the other things I'm reading with smaller page counts on the Reserves page.

Would a fictional carnival work? Like Caraval by Stephanie Garber? I've already read it, but just wondering if it's another option?

35559 Someone was reading The Pairing and it has a bunch of landmarks on the cover.

35559 I will probably not get to Transcendent Kingdom before the 17th, so I'm removing it from the spreadsheet for now. I will put it back after the month rolls over.

35559 I finished Malibu Rising but wasn't sure if you want me to leave it in reserve on my shelf? It's 369 pages and right now it's just filling a spell it out spot. If I enter it into the spreadsheet, I have room for one more book before I hit my cap. Or I can just leave it on my shelf for now.

35559 Sorry Bernadette- you said South America book and I assumed. 🙈

35559 Captains - can we get the spreadsheet updated? I think Jackie is reading something for "journal" and I feel like I saw someone read something for military. And I think I also saw Bernadette finished Tender is the Flesh. But I could be wrong about all of these! LOL I want to make sure we have the latest info when picking books or tasks. Thanks!!

Sam - Here's a reminder of book eligibility. I read a lot of graphic novels also (I read both of Gareth Hinds iliad and odyssey graphic novels and loved them!) but unfortunately they don't usually count. :(

◈ Books must be started after the start date of the challenge to count towards the challenge
◈ Books must be >100 pages.
◈ Books with MPGs Childrens / Kids / Poetry / Play / Graphic Novel / Illustrated / Photography / Art / Cookbook (or which have "Illustrated" in the title or an "Illustrator" contributor in the metadata) must have at least 30,000 words (must be a verified count. sites that provide estimated word counts are not valid sources for verifying word count). ArBookFind is a great site to double check (there are also .co.uk and .com.au versions). If in doubt, ask your captain. A good rule of thumb is that if the audio is over 3 hours, the book will be long enough.
◈ Any book in any language will count, as long as it meets the criteria.
◈ "Re-reads" will be allowed, if it has been six months since you have read the book.
◈ Spell-it-Out Rules: Use the first letter in the book’s title, series name, author’s first/last name, character’s first/last name, narrator’s first/last name (if listening to an audiobook), or translator’s first/last name (if reading a translation). You may ignore (or not) “A,” “An,” or “The” at the start of titles.

Sam - I don't see that task. Make sure you're looking at the right spreadsheet.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

The best thing you can do is read something big. The more pages, the more points we get! And then in addition to points, we can slot the book into a challenge prompt when you're done with it. Whatever you're reading right now can totally count also as long as you finish it after you got assigned to our team (captains correct me if I'm wrong?).

Hi Sam! It is a lot your first time, and jumping in mid month, so take your time and ask for help if you need it. :)

35559 I put Demon Copperhead on the spreadsheet filled in for the watermelon task. But you are welcome to move it to a spell out letter instead if that's more useful!

It also has the sun on the cover, if that would count for "stars"?
Jun 08, 2025 10:59AM

35559 It has a lot of characters in it though so I don't know if you want to save it for a harder letter. I put most of the letters in the spreadsheet already.
Jun 08, 2025 10:58AM

35559 I just finished Demon Copperhead and there is a character named Emmy.
Jun 06, 2025 11:22AM

35559 I hope to have Demon Copperhead done by today or tomorrow if that helps anywhere.
Jun 05, 2025 10:40AM

35559 What happens to the previous cheese since we didn't have an X in time? Did we get partial credit for the other letters?
Jun 04, 2025 01:56PM

35559 I added a book to the Countryside scene task, but it's a novella so if someone has a better book, go ahead and remove it and I'll leave it in reserve.

35559 I just finished Elegy for the Undead for another challenge. Since it's only 188 pages, I've put it on my shelf but not in the SS until we figure out if we can adjust our numbers. However, if you can use it, just let me know and I can plop it in there.

It's MPG queer/horror/romance/zombies/scifi/set in PA/has a head (face?) on the cover, and works for letters E, M, V, J, L, D, H, C, T.
