35559 so my tree book: Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan , has fae, also called Fhrey, being killed by a mortal beheading them. this doesn't work because it has to be mentioned in the title, correct?
35559 I finished this for the second time a couple of weeks ago. I hadn't read it in many years.
I'm really enjoying the first few books like I did last time. I'm really impressed with how Rowling builds characters, even annoying ones like Lockhart and Dobby. You can just see their expressions and visualize what they would be like! I personally feel like Dobby is too dramatic, but she did that on purpose.
And with Lockhart (view spoiler)
Someone also earlier mentioned that they loved Dumbledore and Harry's discussion about the sorting hat. I did too! The idea that people are powerful and they can choose whether or not they can wield their power for good or evil is always a cool theme.
35559 I nominate:

The Ice Princess
The Ice Princess (Patrik Hedström, #1) by Camilla Läckberg
Camilla Läckberg

Returning to her hometown of Fjallbacka after the funeral of her parents, writer Erica Falck finds a community on the brink of tragedy. The death of her childhood friend, Alex, is just the beginning. Her wrists slashed, her body frozen in an ice-cold bath, it seems that she has taken her own life.

Erica conceives a book about the beautiful but remote Alex, one that will answer questions about their own shared past. While her interest grows into an obsession, local detective Patrik Hedstrom is following his own suspicions about the case. But it is only when they start working together that the truth begins to emerge about a small town with a deeply disturbing past.

35559 Melissa wants to try seeker. I'll volunteer for beater or keeper but I'm COMPLETELY fine sitting this one out. Hmmm, instead maybe sign me up for reserves and I can help when someone gets tired for 24-48 hours. But honestly I'm completely fine letting someone else try. Like Apoorv?

35559 Hello! Oh look, I have friends in here! *waves*

Anyways, MelanieJoy from team Lockhart popping in to say hello.
And to *shake hands* with Louise and say good game! You pushed me to be a better seeker, so thanks!

Enjoy the rest of Towers!
Jun 29, 2018 07:35AM

35559 Do it Melissa! It's fun.
Thanks everyone. Louise had picked a book that was 100 pgs shorter than mine so I was worried I wouldn't win. so I just read furiously and pretended to be working hard at my desk haha. I was late to a party because I finished the book first! But it was no big deal. Ok today I'm for real going to post my tree completion and my U book! What else should I look for?

35559 I DID IT GUYS!!!! WOOHOO!!!

Ravenclaw won!!! YAAASSSS
Jun 28, 2018 03:02PM

35559 I finally found the snitch! That took forever. Looks like the Slytherin player found it first. Oh well. I did the puzzle first so she's not too far ahead of me.
Going to read One Fine Cowboy by Joanne Kennedy for the match
Jun 28, 2018 07:46AM

35559 I spent 2 hours yesterday scrolling the archived BRs for the snitch. It's well hidden because I can't find it yet. And with the clue given Im afraid Im going to miss something. But if it's an adequate clue then it does help narrow down the search. I'm on my phone so I can't search till I get to my work computer.
Jun 27, 2018 08:48AM

35559 Ok I'll put my tree book in today.

I also have a bright yellow book I might not have added yet. It has a blue truck on the cover.

I'm finishing my U book hopefully before the snitch is released. Just a few hours! Ya'll send good thoughts and prayers so I can find it before I leave work!
Jun 26, 2018 02:04PM

35559 Sorry I still have several to add to my Towers shelf and to our completion thread. I took off reading last week, I don't pick up any new books. I'm trying to finish my U book but work and personal life has been crazy. I'll see if I can get it done tonight because I have to look for the snitch tomorrow.
Jun 19, 2018 12:31PM

35559 Emily I LOVE Sherrilyn Kenyon books. Acheron is my current favorite but I've only read 9. Can you tell me how Styx is when you're done?
35559 I just finished this! It's still amazing. JK Rowling has a lot of world building to do in the first book, and she sets it up well. She brings in a great plot, likeable characters, well developed villains, great twists, and more. I also personally agree with her that Draco would make a horrible boyfriend. He's kind of narcissistic, always thinking he's the best; he has no compassion, and he gets insanely jealous easily? No thank you.
Jun 18, 2018 12:39PM

35559 Chasers sound like they read the most so I probably won't sign up for one. But looking for the snitch sounds like fun.
Jun 18, 2018 12:07PM

35559 Cool! You excited?
Jun 18, 2018 08:59AM

35559 I finished Age of Myth (The Legends of the First Empire, #1) by Michael J. Sullivan my tree book, so I'll add that today. Then for this week I'm reading Fragile by Lisa Unger for another challenge, so the U can work for something. I still have a few books to post completions for.
And I'm seeker for the next quidditch, woohoo!
35559 It's a very witty book, so if you follow along well you'll catch the dry humor. Also the book tries to accomplish a lot, it has to set up the series and build the world so we just get hints of each character. But he does a good job with just starting out. I'm looking forward to Age of Swords, book 2. He wrote that it was his favorite of all of them.
