35559 I'll join that one!
35559 ok! it's on my TBR list now!
35559 MH, I totally agree with you about Noah's ex. Very believable and well written.
Regarding Charlie, (view spoiler)

(view spoiler) Did ya'll have thoughts on that?

Overall, I really liked it. I loved the writing style, lyrical and with imagery, but also some intrigue. I was very impressed with Hester Young. Part of me wants to go back and read the first book, but I'm wondering if know a few things from the second book would spoil it for me.

35559 Oh! I read The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor #1) by Jessica Townsend

this should work for a charm!!! I'll post it in books read thread soon if i haven't already.

35559 I also just finished The Shimmering Road (Charlotte Cates, #2) by Hester Young
so if anyone has someone or something on a road, similar to Partials (Partials Sequence, #1) by Dan Wells that might work for a charm

35559 so for summoning I read Two Nights by Kathy Reichs which has a dock and water but no boat. would it work with stillhouse lake like you're summoning the boat back to shore?
35559 I'll probably finish this today. I didn't read as much during the weekend, but I'm finished through chapter 18. Just found out that (view spoiler) I heaved a big sigh of relief!
Will keep reading! I didn't read the first one yet so I don't know what to compare it to. I've lived in Mexico so the vivid descriptions of their time in Nogales is very very relatable to me.

Which of the characters do you relate to?

I think the way she describes Oscar the realtor is so realistic! I've met a realtor like that in Arizona that helped my parents buy a house.

At the beginning of the book I was distrustful of Theresa but I'm less so now. Which is exactly how Charlie felt, and I think it's REALLY cool that Hester Young can take you on the same journey discovering her characters that her characters go through.
35559 I agree the trials were very good.

I have a question I want to discuss with you guys WHEN YOU FINISH THE BOOK! DO NOT READ the SPOILER until you're DONE!

35559 I heard the Los Angeles online library is HUGE. You have to go in person and make an account at a branch but if you can get out there it's worth it. My grandpa told me.

35559 I'm doing 2 BRs and a BOM currently. I'm might be able to do another BR but it takes me longer to finish books than I would like because Real Life gets in the way... hahaha
May 17, 2018 02:13PM

35559 haha Apoorv how many libraries are you registered at?

35559 I'm reading The Trials of Morrigan Crow (Nevermoor #1) by Jessica Townsend as a buddy read and it's awesome and hilarious! Anyone of you should join while it's still going on!
35559 In chapter 3!

Current favorite quote: (view spoiler)

Also favorite quote: "Meanwhile, fear had set up camp in her stomach and was having a festival."

I'm loving the writing of this story! It does feel like a fun cross between Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter, but in it's own new and refreshing way. Like it deserves to be a story.

35559 oh good so there's no rush.

I have to take a look at the classes. And back track in the books read thread to see if any of them fit anywhere. I've completed 3 more books that I can post. I'll finish The Shimmering Road by Hester Young today or tomorrow and I'll finish Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly after that.
35559 Joining in! Team Gilderoy Lockhart. This looks good!
