I did earlier when I DMed Cat that I would be later than expected. My toddler is napping so gonna read like mad to catch up. It does seem kind of slow at first.

Aiswrya and M, I loved The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1) by S.A. Chakraborty and did not like the sequel. It's hard to understand, the settings and histories and characters were difficult to follow, they weren't too hard during the first book but then I got into the second one over a year earlier and the book didn't do much to jog my memory other than repeat the names. There's a lot going on.

35559 I can't DNF - I've got DQs tonight! Haha but honestly I've barely started because I TOTALLY forgot about this one this weekend while I was dog sitting. I'm pretty sure I can get far enough to get DQs in. We'll see how I like it.

I have to read it more slowly than most of my books though. Have to settle in for the ride.
35559 Hey friends, Heads up: DQs for parts 7-9 are a little delayed as I'm on pacific time in the US and have to catch up on these parts after work, but you will have them late this evening! Hope that's ok!
35559 Laura let me know when you get The Last Equation of Isaac Severy

35559 Sorry I’ve been MIA! I’m here working furiously on a couple books to catch up to where I said I’d be. I’ll have to go back and read our discussion later today.
35559 almost done with A Beginning at the End. Really intriguing book!
35559 Thanks Laura! Do you have a preference? I'm down to wait to schedule any of these. It sounds like The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs is our best bet, and we can schedule it for right after Wheels begins? Stacey would you want to read one of these or wait until you finish the Vanishing Half?
35559 I'm making a shelf for the ones I think would be good buddy reads that I haven't read yet.

Here are a few:

The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore (Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore, #1) by Robin Sloan All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders Dragonfly by Leila Meacham

I also would love to read a few of the ones you suggested:
The Lost Book of Adana Moreau by Michael Zapata The Revisionaries by A.R. Moxon Curious Toys by Elizabeth Hand Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal
35559 I won't get that one any time soon but you guys go ahead.

Still working slowly through A Beginning and I should be done by tomorrow as well.

I have a few books I'd love to buddy read with you guys after you finish A Vanishing Half

35559 For Aiswrya:
I'm a picky reader as well.
I've heard of Kylie Scott and K A Tucker and I think I've read a couple of their books. You can also check out
Jaci Burton Play by Play series for a sports theme,
Julie Ann Walker for a biker/secret agent theme, and Jay Crownover for a bad boy/ tattoos theme. Those are some of my favorites for HEA romances. They're slow burn enough for me but not sure for you.

35559 Good to meet more teammates! I have not read our team name's book, although I have seen the movie and the sequel multiple times.

I'm also listening to A Beginning at the End

and slowly making my way listening through Renegades and reading through Last Call at the Nightshade Lounge. Interesting reads so far, we'll see if I like them or not by the end.
35559 Laura, I'm also listening to the narration and I like it for this book. I typically don't do narrations for buddy reads either but I'm glad I did for this one.

The normal family thing was interesting - they say all types of normal families - they didn't care as long as you exhibited normal socially acceptable behaviors instead of being reclusive or things like that.

I agree, all characters currently have redeeming qualities but their interests will clash later it seems, so we'll see what happens. I don't trust any of Moira's and Kristi's friends/family though.

35559 What's up Team Pants!

Been a while since I've done a chatty team challenge, been doing team challenges recently but took a hiatus in 2019, so it's good to be back! (My first team challenge was WOBBLE 2016 - very intense but so fun!) Been on teams with a few of you before so it's good to see you again, and great to meet new people!

I'm in California in a pretty high COVID spreading area so still sheltering in place other than working as a nanny for two families who are also self-quarantining. (Previously taught pre-school before the school shut down).

My current top genres are YA and fantasy; I occasionally sprinkle romance, non fiction, literary fiction, and mystery/thrillers in there. Feel free to take a look at my books and see what you like or ask me if I like a book, or tell me that a TBR book is a MUST READ because you LOVED it or whatever! There's also a place next to the profile name where you can compare books from shelves and that's really fun; I do it a lot with new friends.

Have a great weekend everyone and looking forward to getting to know you better!

Here is my shelf
35559 Finished all of Strangers part 1

Good set up to the plot. Good character development and set up, can really understand perspectives and motives, and neat ways of connecting the 4 of them. Definitely eerie how our current society mirrors their prologue in some aspects.

One idea stayed with me about how the internet and technology resources broke down and it's not a resource that's as available as it used to be, which was in part a cause of the apocalypse. So, very interesting - coming at the post apocalyptic society from how the internet is a scarcity or is fallible.

Who you guys rooting the most for their story to play out the way they want it to? Rob, Kristi, or Moira? I'm a Rob fan currently but not of (view spoiler)
35559 My DQ volunteer from the previous post is from Traveling Pants team :)
35559 I agree with Laura - it's super ironic that we're reading this right now! "flu epidemic and subsequent rioting and looting"...
35559 I can't start it till tomorrow - important book to finish for a challenge and then I'm good to go!
35559 Let’s shoot for a Beginning at the End if Laura Can still get it. Stacey just let us know when you it comes through. We can set the BR to start like midweek, or a week from tomorrow or something to give you guys a breather and to get the book? Does that work?
35559 Woohoo this is great! Thanks Mods!
35559 Curious Toys looks a little creepy but not as much because the horror stuff isn't happening to the narrator like in All is Not Forgotten. I don't think I'm ready for that one. But Curious Toys looks more like a thriller/mystery
